Yes. You’re on the money with your thoughts. GU made a mountain out of an ant hill. A bunch of other people jumped on the bandwagon without thinking it through, and I would say that now’s a good time to try and break into the camera influencer space. Brands will be looking for new people to replace the cranks. Time to move on. Oh and regarding the S9, combined with the new Lab app I think this camera can make a very valuable little niche for itself. We all need ways to improve our social media offerings for clients and here’s a compact that can build on the fly specialty looks (client only looks perhaps??? Their own secret sauce? Yeah I think you can sell that idea. ) for immediate turnaround on set and/or on site. B-roll, micro interviews, multi crop deliverables from the phone I think. I’m thinking they finally nailed the connectivity holy grail and from there you can serve clients quickly and in new and exciting ways. Can’t wait for mine to come through.
A big part of the frustration is that L-mount users have been waiting for more professional S cameras forever, and now another camera with an IMX410 sensor comes out, and LUMIX says it's not for them. Sony has an entire ecosystem of different E mount cameras supporting the end user. We still don't have the S1r/S1Hii. I’ve never seen a beginner photographer or casual user pay much attention to camera releases. The backlash came from people who are really into camera gear. At this point, every camera that LUMIX releases that is not the S1r/S1Hii will be criticized into the dirt; and that is completely fair.
You know why people were in such an uproar...?! One word... THREATENED ! "Dang, you can store 39 luts in the camera and shoot with them straight out of camera ? My LUT packs that I'm selling might take a hit." Or maybe, "dang...it has the same stabilization that's in the S5ii/X ?! Dang, my current camera doesn't have that." What about.. "Wow, it shoots 6K Open Gate and it's full frame ?! Dang, my current setup does not.." Whatever the case, for the most part...people felt threatened. "Wow, they made this camera for tiktokers ?! Why do they need all these pro-capable things ?!" lol. People feel threatened ! For various reasons. The S9 hands down, has been one of the most FUN cameras to shoot with, in a VERY long time. It's been great, and I've been getting great results with it. Aside from that, the Lumix Lab App is a GAME-CHANGER, and every camera company will copy it. Personally, it's been a WORKFLOW changer ! Getting everything SOOC, I haven't had to edit a thing. Feels good getting that time back.
@@Marcus_Visbal they’re the same price in Australia and many other markets. The S9 is a good camera but not for its price. I will die on the hill that the S9 is a joke camera for its price. PS I have canon and Fuji
Gerald’s video felt more like a tantrum or just negative bias for LUMIX. And Sony Fanboys are just butthurt “their” creators are hanging with Panasonic
As an owner of the S5II I know the S9 is going to be an amazing camera for personal everyday use, or a second camera in many instances of professional jobs or content direction.
Gerald is an amazing camera reviewer but he ain't very good at shooting video or taking photos most of those guys aren't .sometimes I find it hard to take People seriously when all that they are is actually a human spec sheets that can't take photos
@ThomasThomas-c1z completely agree, I value opinions of professionals in the field a bit more because how a camera performs during production, which can be more content creator focused workflow or actual production on set, far more than specs. Once I know the camera technically can perform, I want to know it can and what limitations it’s going to have. The Sony burano is amazing on paper, but I’ve worked with a handful of guys that used on production and it has too many faults, too clunky, and the ratios for switching resolution is far to whacky.
Please please please stop calling the S9 a rehoused S5ii It doesnt even have an evf, or a hot shoe, or mechanical shutter, or unlimited recording, or a headphone jack, or a second card slot etc etc, its most definitely not a rehoused s5ii And on top of that the S5ii is now cheaper here in the UK than the S9. I've been a lumix user since the gh4, and I now own a S1 an S5iix and an FZ2000, but I can say the S9 sucks in a big way.

It will definitely be the first rendition but once it’s beefed up and added to other cameras too, it’s going to make workflow changes for sure
Thanks for watching as well!

Completely agree. I, myself have been waiting for the S1H II to potentially jump systems but at this point, I don’t know if I can in good faith
👏Good for Lumix. Weather it was intentional or not the promotion for this camera stir up people to talk about this camera.
I wanted to hate this camera because it seems so restrictive yet so perfect at the same time

What did you say that requires this to be age-restricted?
Not sure why that happened
Would you buy an A7Cii or the S9 if they were the same price?
A7C II hands down. I own the A7IV and love the camera

“We are nice but angry all the time.”🤔😂🤣
It’s how it feels day to day 🤣

I disagree

are you serious?

Great video I just uploaded damn there the same thoughts on the camera.
Hell yea, will check it out 🙌
15 minute recording time?? No thanks. I was pretty much ready to consider this cam til I heard that fact.
me when I'm a paid shill who wants future free sthff:
Please please please stop calling the S9 a rehoused S5ii

seems like you never watch the whole video lol!
It's not a rehoused S5. It's a castrated S5.
Well said the S9 is a marketing gimmick. It’s an abomination of a camera.
Too many excuses
