Just beginning to try macrame. Before I start my first kit I thought I would practice the required knots. I looked at many videos and I am so relieved to have found yours on the horizontal clove hitch. I patiently worked on it and it took me awhile. It was so very helpful when you explained that on the first tie the cord is in the front and on the second it's in the back. Thank you so much for doing this video. It's truly a macrame 101 unlike so many others.
Thank you so much! Unbelievable how many videos out there race through this so that you can't tell that on the second half of the knot, the working loop stays in front. Simple, but crucial!
Thank you so much, I struggled with this but your instructions are spot on in explaining and not time lapsed. You really gave time to explain this which is much appreciated & made it easy to understand and I think I have it now so a huge thanks!!!
I have been trying to do this knot for I don’t know how long. Nobody else has instructions as clear as you. I didn’t realize the knot was tied back and then front. I was feeling so badly about myself. Thank you so much. Please keep teaching ❤️
Thank you so very very much. I have struggled with this knot like forever and watching your video for the first time I got it. Now I can make some of the projects I like. Thank you, thank you, thank you
Same here, it’s really simple yet mine looked so dodgy, its because it wasn’t made clear “top” and “bottom” ! No wonder mine looked so messy! THANKYOU SO MUCH! 💖
Thank you so much for a very well explained method. I was starting to get discouraged with a new project and ran into your channel. I'm now pressing the 'Subscribe' button. You're an excellent teacher!
I have tried and tried to do this and just couldn't get it, UN'TIL i came across your video! All the other videos I watched did not explain and went so fast couldn't really tell what they were doing. Thank you so much for sharing. I now can make a project I have been wanting to do for months. Thanks again for such great videos!!
My problem is I always seem to have one hitch that's smaller than the second. While I've managed to perfect the stitch going from left to right, when I work right to left, the stitches form bumps (high...low, high low) , just like your stitches in this video. I was wondering if you've found the remedy to this, possibly after this video was made? Thanks so much.
Thank you I am using your tutorial for my wall hang! I am adding a rope to make the line completely straight as I am creating a square piece with sections... but the lines are extending outside the piece to the left and right :( do you know how I avoid this?
Hi there! I'm wondering if I wanted to make an entire wall hanging just using rows of the double half hitch knot, would I have to make my leading rope extra long? Or is it okay to keep cords all the same length? Thank you so much!
Hi! The rope I’m using in this video is actually a cotton clothesline I got from Walmart. Now, when I need a braided rope, I will buy it from either Knot & Rope Supply, or Hello Bobbiny (this store is in Poland, so shipping is expensive if you live in the US. However, some US Etsy shops also sell it). I typically use either 4mm or 5mm for most projects. Hope this helps! 😊
@@GrayWonders well..it's true..I'm just starting to learn this and sooo many on YT seem to go so fast and are ver impatient...I'll be doing all my learning from you..have an awesome day!!!
If you flip your project around, you are able to tuck the ends in the back of the knots! I like to trim and tape them first, and then just gently tuck away. :)
I love your posts but right now I am so confused between : Horizontal double half hitch knot & Horizontal half hitch knot & Horizontal clove hitch knot. Are they all the same?? please help me....
How do you tuck them in since you tied those knots how do you squeeze rope in there. I could see doing this with string and then you take a needle and pull the string through the needle and then push the needle through the knots to tuck in the thread but how do you do rope?
2bLikeJesus John3:16 if you watch my video on the vertical double half hitch knot, I actually show how I tuck the ropes in which is very similar to this. But typically you are able to gently pull the rope loose enough to tuck the rope through. Sometimes you might need the help of a needle (or something similar) to push the rope through if the knots are too tight.

Thank you!! I’m really glad you found this helpful ☺️
Yes I feel the same way.
I have watched so many videos looking for you lol. Thank you for explaining this step the placement of the cord is what I needed to know.
Finally got it! Watched several videos and couldn't figure it out. It has helped me to keep the leading rope in my hand at all times.
Yay!! I am so happy that you were able to learn this knot. It was definitely a tricky one for me too when I first started out. 😊

This was super helpful! I was able to go left to right with no problem, but I wasn't able to do the opposite haha. This video was so clear. Thank you!

Thank you for this great instruction , finally I get it!!!!
thanks! I am just starting macrame- I had to watch this a trillion Times to understand the second method haha, but I got it!!
Thank you. Great tutorial 👍
Thank you so much !! I have a question, do you have any macrame wall hanging tutorial ? I want to create one, a large size. Thank you

@@GrayWonders Thank you! The knitted/braided cord certainly gives it a different look- I appreciate it!
سلام عزیزم ممنونم از این همه لطف شما خیلی خیلی کارتون دیدنی و عالی است ومن لذت می برم.
You should be giving classes at Michael's or even private lessons...I'm sure you would have MANY people to pay for your wonderful tutorials..
Wow, thank you so much! That really means a lot!

Can you link the cord used in Method#1? It looks very nice and soft. Thanks.

Question for the 2nd way (video). Whats gonna happen to the excess on the side? How do you conceal or hide them? Thanks!

Double half hitch knot and clove hitch knot are the same thing. A half hitch knot is just the first half of a double.
@@GrayWonders THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH. have a great day
How do I change colors or can I
