Hello! could you please talk about the pain near the elbow after exercises? I'm did the usual stretch exercise for the triceps and I only feel a stretch in my shoulder. A physiotherapist told me that I have joint hypermobility syndrome and that's why a simple normal stretch exercise is not enough for me... But I don't know If that's true
I have diffuse disc bulges in l4-l5-s1. When I stand for some seconds, I can feel heaviness near my knees(both legs) but if I walk I dont feel much. Can you please let me know why I am feeling discomfort and heaviness if i stand.
I had low back pain after bike accident. First intuitive solution that I been taken for myself - to stay still as possible, reduce spine movement to let damage to heal self in addition to medical threatment (I have MRI that say 12mm protrusion in one of spine disks). But since several month I figured out that works bad - every moderate load on spine took back pain back. I'v reseached problem deeper and started to do some low back yoga every day (~15 min plank/cat's bend). It were counterintuitive, I have to do yoga with some little pain in the back. But since month of train I realized that my daily pain has gone, and my back now more resilient to any loads
The key with low back pain and disc injuries is to slowly and steadily ease back into exercise. One thing at a time. Those backbends are a super common exercise for discs. Personally I've found that a holistic approach gets the best results. You may enjoy this masterclass on back pain and sciatica: www.shapeshiftwellness.com/LBP-masterclass
@ShapeshiftWellness Thank you for proposal! I had to change my life due to back pain - if I stop exercises pain returns back bit by bit (in several month). So, I do more physical activities, drink more water, control my sleep/wake times, count my food calories and working time in a week. Also I bought good ortopedic pillow. It's all helps reduce stress levels, speed up metabolism and keep pain away. I discovered that now I haven't low spine "burden" after sleep, that was marvelous thing - It was an issue before accident.
Hi i have a question :) Is it right that doing extension with a disc extrusion can be really bad ? Thank you for your answer :) Greetings from Argentina !
Hey! It's more based on symptoms. If radiating pain gets better with extension, that's good. If radiating sciatica pain gets worse with extension, we ease off it a bit.
Random question but may I ask what you think of David from stayflexi? He is very flexible but also very strong and functional in his flexibility (you'll see immediately if you just watch one of his shorts). To me it looks like a very healthy state to be in. What do you think?
He’s a good dude and definitely entertaining, but I think the research doesn’t support super deep stretching and hypermobility as being a benefit. Rather, some research shows hypermobility to be a risk factor for chronic pain and injury. Yes, if you have the strength to back it up, great! But… most people don’t. They just try to stretch deeper and deeper and never truly get strong. Main point: in a head to head comparison of flexibility vs. strength for literally any meaningful health outcome (injury risk, blood pressure, blood glucose, all cause mortality…) strength wins every time by a landslide.
@@ShapeshiftWellness I see. It makes sense to me that strength would be more beneficial. But it's also nice to know that stretching in the right way while at the same time building strength is at least not harming (if done correctly). I just like to be a little more flexible which is why I was concerned. My main goal is being healthy and well prepared for aging. Thanks for your elaborate answer! Appreciate it.
Almost everyone I’ve ever worked with has made some progress. Some people fix it completely, while others reduce the impact pain has on their life so they can still do the activities they love. Who knows how much progress you can make? Progress of some kind is almost always achievable.
Yea man I do get temporary relief from alcohol and half the time my meaning ful activities usually include alcohol. You have def studied greg lehmans stuff
@@ShapeshiftWellness true. I'm finding the same thing. Just hard to say no more often than not. But yes it messes with your sleep cycle as well only adding to the cup
I literally want to be you. I will overcome my low back pain and I will become rich helping others overcome chronic back pain.

When people are dealing with hypermobility usually working on strength and stability is much more helpful than doing more stretching.

Lehman is great! I’m a pain science junkie.
I definitely found alcohol to make things better short term, but make things WAY worse long term 😬
