MY 2019 CAMERA GEAR KIT for Photo/video-kit.com/mannyo...
I just purchased the FJ400 thanks to your review. Love watching all your content, keep it up.
Thanks for reviewing this unit, and thanks for the feedback on getting lower power! Firmware is already available and will be shipping with the first units!
When will they ship
@@Brian_Eason The first units will start shipping in the next 2-3 weeks!
@@WestcottLighting Do you guys have anything to rival the Godox Ad200 pro on the market as of now ready to ship?
Can I trigger the strobe with a Canon 600ex RT speedlite?
When are these lights coming to Canada?
Gonna have to pick one up just for the all cam trigger and AC adaptor..you’re also the first to mention the low power limitation Goodlooks on the in depth review
Thank you!!!!!!!!!! just brought the Westcott Fj400. Love it!!!!
You (probably at the request of Westcott) forgot to mention that this is simply a re-brand of the Jinbei HD-400 Pro. There is a complete ecosystem when you reveal the real manufacturer of the product because they have tons of flashes that work together. It's not nice to withhold information from your audience because Westcott doesn't want people to know that it didn't actually develop and manufacture this re-branded Jinbei flash.
Would a jinbei flash work with a Westcott flash ?
Your reviews are getting better each time, you and your wife are a great team, keep growing!
Idk what any of this means, but the photos are fire! Dope video bro.
hey im subbed to you also lol. you 2 should collab
As a videographer transitioning to still photography, I'm slowly picking up some of the jargon
Hahaha thanks for checking it out regardless bro ✌️
I'm also a Hybrid shooter, but I'm picking up the still photo jargon.....Chicago NW side....!
@@MannyOrtiz Old video but I have a question, the westcott trigger can only fire the FJ400 correct? They dont have speedlights or anything else in their product lineup?
I like how you can control the light with a Canon transmitter!
U use 35mm with Z6 ... is it better for standard fix for Z6 or better take 50mm... thinking one of them.
Hey Manny, thanks for the great comparsion. Do you also have noticed a Orange tint in the Westscott Flashes?
instant like for the "why" at the beginning xD
Stoked to hear Westcott came out with a new flash!! I currently use their Solix LED, Ice Light, and Flex Mat
Did you ever try the lower power settings after the firmware update? Was it low enough to give just a kiss of light? instead of a bright blast even at the lowest setting?
Each time i start watching the videos for the info, I quickly get side tracked thinking about how super cute these two are as a couple❤️ sweet duo, made for each other☺️
Bro this video cracked me up!!! I also love the shoot. Well done. Lighting is everything.
The built in AC adapter, the almost universal remote and the price certainly make it a serious competitor to the Godox/Flashpoint equivalent for those who shoot in studio or on location exclusively with monolights. The only real disadvantage I see, which you mentioned and is a big deal for me personally, is Godox has a much larger ecosystem that includes speedlights. If Westcott comes out with speedlights to work with this light, I may just consider switching.
yeah, it's a serious competitor. I'd like to see where they go with the line before I think of swapping from Godox/FP
this one is a re-labeled jinbei, so there is a similar ecosystem here...
@@AutoAt Adorama started importing and selling Jinbei lights under their own 'Orlit' name(I looked at the Orlit Rover RT/Jinbei Mars-3 300ws pack and head system some time ago but lack of speedlights in the lineup swayed me toward Flashpoint). It now appears they have all but abandoned the Orlit brand, not expanding their line up, and moved to Flashpoint(rebranded Godox) lights instead.
I could order Jinbei speedlights from overseas, but dealing with Chinese companies for warranty issues is very problematic to say the least. That is why I went with the Flashpoint system. Adorama handles the warranty on their branded versions domestically. IF Westcott starts importing compatible speedlights and such under their own name, and handles warranty issues themselves as Adorama does, THEN it will be a more serious competitor for US buyers like myself.
Jinbei Has so many flashes and on Europe they are more affordable
Nice review!! Love using the Z6 + 35mm f/1.8
one trigger to rule them all, it's about time
The strobe and trigger might be my next purchase for lighting💥 Awesome work!
Thanks for the review, Manny! I saw FStopeprs and yours, but love you including the real-world perspective as well, though. Very insightful.
What a great look for Diana's look!
0:30 ............... that 3 second stare.................says it all :)
"Rest it on your hot dog" Lmao! Diana's soul evaporated..
Died when I heard that ROFL
lol. That was hilarious.
consinkid1 I called it my hotdog first lol. He had me sitting down posing and I said that I had to hide my leg bc it looked like a hotdog. He’s not that original. 😂
@@intendandinspire I'm just playing I love you guys!
looks really good , like the display & controls ..
Now I got to try flash with classic chrome. Digging the look.
Hi,
Great video!! Do you have any issues with white balance? I use the Sony system and Godox have been giving me really bad white balance issues (usually a heavy blue tint). So I have to adjust the Kelvin every time I switch between no flash and with flash. Wondering if I should switch to Westcott for more accurate AWB.
Lol glad you also keep it original with the “Sears Tower”
Are the samples you show SOC or they have some color or skin retouch?
Those cables behind the first pictures haha! Love the flash
I need to start doing flash photography
Ben Howard Go for it
What power were you shooting at? I see a lot of f1.8 Plenty of power on a day with more sun?
Not the hot diggidy dog 😂
I see this strobe light as jinbei hd400 or rovelit /orlit 400 ,they look similar
Thank You!
Awesome video Manny!!
Hey Manny! I just saw a video on Miguel Quilles using a wesctcott trigger without a Sony adapter, what's with that?
Orlit has their own echo system not as deeps as godox but it's close and they have an app that lets you control your entire studio from your phone
Sears tower aka Willis tower, NICE! 👍
I was just looking at the fj400's and AD400, so with the firmware update do you feel the Prescott's are better strobes? I want to invest in the best options possible.. Thanks, Chi-town photographer 📸😁👍🏼
You guys are adorable as a couple, great video
Great photographer, great couple.
Cactus v6ii trigger works cross platform as well.
so after the firmware update did it work like the godox?
It's the newer version of the Orlit 400. Seems to have a few upgrades from the older version. Rebranded for westcott.
Can I use the trigger with a Leica SL system? I really thought I an just buy stuff, the Godox I have wasn't working on my camera.
You two guys are the best. I love your work.
So it does not come with the trigger right? I have to buy it separately
1/32 power - if this is a rebranded Jinbei as others say, it should be able to go from 1 to 9 power (on manual). That means 8 F-stops adjustment. 2 to the power 8 is 256, so it should be able to go to 1/256 power. If each 1..9 full stop equals an exact f-stop difference. Generally, if a flash supports some form of TTL, it may be able to go much lower.
Bro which light and softbox did you use while in your studio speak about your sponsor square space? The lighting looks great!
Why I don't see you release a video from the Montana at Sony Camera Camp? didn't you join the camp? if you do, can't wait to see it comes out.
Manny, I'm loving your videos. You are killing it, as always. Keep it up.
Diana's look after you named all the camera brands you have. She was like "bet" 😂😂😂
That trigger is dope. Wonder if this is going to make other brands come out with something similar?
Good job team
great video bro
Are u manually adjusting strobe power?
im not sure if im using the correct term - but its a relabelled jinbei 400
It is. It's also branded as the orlit 400 and now the westcott fj400. I will say this one has a faster recycle time and rated for more overall flashes. A few small upgrades. But it is a rebranded strobe.
@@ihatesjws669 that's the term i was looking for - rebranded :D thanks!
Nice review. And glad to see there’s more competition in this market. It means that manufacturers will be forced to come up with creative designs and technology to keep consumers interested.
But the price is still high
nice review. I have ad200 and V1 and hesitate to go to ad400pro. if we go to FV400 with their trigger, we cannot dive additional godox ad200pro for hair light,... correct ?
about photography, I noticed that you are often lower than face and horizontal, not pointing up. I suppose this position is the one giving your nice 'wide angle" effects in your images ?
Super informative video as always Manny! Thanks for the real world review.
What light stand did you use with the Westcott FJ400?
always keeping it 100
How about that review on the canon ESO R eye auto focus firmware update?
Super jealous of you man, your wife is such a beauty, such a supportive person, and everything else which a man desires in his woman. God bless you both. 😘😘
Competition is good! Perhaps this will trigger a dramatic price drop on the Godox AD400 Pro. Based on Robert Hall's recent group buy, there seems to be a pretty hefty profit margin on the Godox AD400 Pro/Xplor 400 Pro.
Another fun and informative review. Great chemistry between you as always. Hotdog pfffftttt
not your “hotdog” 😂 💀
no wonder everyone's outdoor portraits look way nicer than mine. you guys actually have clouds blocking the sun.
Oh! I can see the copies coming out now...
This looks exactly like my ORLIT RT-400 TTL Monolight , which is awsome
question.... can the tamron FE 35-150mm f2.8 be a good all around lens for a sony a6400? it has stabilization and its cheaper than the last zoom lenses sony launched. with hope you could answer with another cool video. have fun
Jinbei HD-400 :D
You said that you weren't going to compare specs, .. them immediately started comparing specs😄
Did you put a gel in front of the light?
Will that trigger work with godox flashes?
That minimal power is a deal bneaker. Also did you actually compare full power or just paper spec?
Mo power baby
Awesome video! If you guys want to reduce the minimal power of the strobe, you can also use the modeling light instead or feather the strobe away to reduce the intensity. I hope that helps
Hmm this happens right when I've started looking for a 400w or 600w strobe. Black Friday can't come soon enough!
Hey Manny.
I know you can link this trigger with Canon 600EX-RTs but can it trigger lights from other manufacturers even like Godox
Great video bro! Keep them up. I really enjoy watching these!!
Thanks for the video. What backpack are you using? I’m in the market and that one is what I’ve been looking for.
This just came to mind. With the handicap of the unit’s lowest power setting still being too powerful, I wonder if there’s a way to decrease the amount of flash with more diffusion?
Flags, camera settings and so on. So much you can do.
Greetings I have a question I have a sony a 7111 and fj 200 fj 400 but I have not been able to configure my camera at high speed with the flash I would appreciate your help
"I don't know of no other trigger..." The Cactus V6II works with all those brands + Pentax + Sigma. Sadly their strobe project (RQ250) folded but the trigger is multi-brand and works with speedlights from many brands, even supporting cross-brand TTL.
Awesome!!
@Manny have you tested to see if the Godox R2 pro trigger works with this light or if this trigger works with Godox lights?
I agree with you regarding Power I have the same issue with my Priolite
To much power it will not go down below 15 watts. So I have to use my Godox 360 or 860 for interiors for shallow depth. The godox 400 overall is much better unit my humble opinion also.
Good stuff 👍🏾
Do you recommend this over the Godox400 ???
excelent video!!!!!!!!
Your videos are dope! Thanks for sharing your wisdom and new products for us.
@Many Ortiz - Have you ever updated the firmware and were you able to use 1/64, or some smaller power fraction of 1 stop? I updated the firmware today to v.1.1.1 and no matter what setting (Manual with power 1-9 and HSS) I'm in the power will not go bellow 1. Do you know how to turn down the power to less that 1 in manual mode? Thanks.
What’s the new range with the firmware update?
Isn't this the same thing as one of the Jinbei HD strobes?
Nice review! Thanks!
Manny I was wondering does this Fj400 be fitted for the magbox with the same adapter you use with the AD400
please can you say something about modeling light, nobody talks about modeling light but for me it is very important i am a food and product photographer and for me is very important to see what i do and then to shoot. i need powerfull enough modeling light, it says 20w LED but in real life how it looks can you led somebody face or or something to give an idea what it looks like?
Manny does the Octa-M always requires holding by another person or xtra weights? is that necessary? or just being careful. thank you
did the firmware update to the power settings satisfy your 1 down side?
I’m out of town so I can’t test it but will as soon as I get back
I literally bought the AD400 3 days ago based on your recommendation, and then this thing comes out of nowhere.
