Ah Jasper, Just as the story does, you lead us into that other world with a tincture of Oldfieldesk spookiness. Thanks for the taxi ride into the grey.
Great story and narration! This is excellent. Oh, this story is amazing. You find some great ones! If I discuss the story, I will be harried a "story ruiner," so I will keep guessing and thinking on my own. Great job, Jasper! Keep it up.
@Story-Voracious66 love that word. I should have said, "harried as a story ruiner." I love many of the words that were once, but no longer, commonly used. Some of the modern synonyms do not do it for me. I love old words like that! I also enjoy the usage of the word "grey" in the title. I am an American, but I am a bit of an Anglophile when it comes to word usage.
@@donaldmccleary9015 I've always been fond of the old words myself. I also read Nevile Shute as a young girl, specifically because he used the word 'presently' a lot. I found sentences such as: "Presently, they came to a clearing" comforting, I don't know why. Yeees, I was a strange child.... ❤
My American wife heard me listening to this and she said you have a marvelous voice. I couldn’t agree more. Please keep the stories coming, I’ve almost been through your entire playlist. As someone that studied to do narrations, I admire your talent. An expat in Florida.
@@jeremypearson6852 You can study to do narrations?? Also...Florida sounds like a nice place to be right now. I've had to bust out the thermal socks...🥶
The haunting music score is just perfect & most excellent narration, befitting the title ... perfection *Jasper.* Will listen again as soon as darkness falls. It's 6: 06 where I be
A very strange tale from Mr Metcalfe, a writer sadly forgotten by many. I work near Cavendish Square, and will totally avoid all ANCIENT taxis. Thank you, as ever.
I began to listen, but I've been going through a bit of a patch, and my mind isn't properly on anything at the moment😢 I shall have a listen soon Jasper, as well as continuing my voyage through your archives ❤
New yo this channel only just discovered with this tale. Excellent narration & great story. Just subscribed & looking forward to more of work. Brilliantly done!
I thought I wasn't listening properly. After re-listening to patches, I realized the author was engaging in a little deliberate obfuscation. When you are talking about slipping through the cracks of time, that may happen.
A strange and melancholy tale by John Metcalfe. Hope you enjoy it.
This story is a masterpiece of loose ends and missing explanations.
I thought at first that I wasn't following it. Some judicial re-listening convinced me the author didn't want to be followed.

This is the best thing to wake up to. Jasper, you are the King! Thanks 👍

As an Australian Anglophile, I believe that we've all found an excellent aural niche to enjoy.

Absolutely. I had to read and re-read a few times. Metcalfe's stories are often deeply strange.
