Sorry for the delay with this one. Been a bit busy. Hope you enjoy this wonderful Marjorie Bowen tale. I made a tweak to the source text because I believe there was a confusion about which character was speaking and thought it would improve the listening experience. If anyone wants to take me to task over my pronunciation of "murrain", I chose the archaic pronunciation "murrein" as it seemed appropriate to the period in which the story's set. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it 😉 CONTENT WARNING: 🙉Derogatory language 📢Loud noises
Hello Monsieur L'Estrange 👋 I was beginning to worry about you. As long as you're alright, take your time to do what you have to do. We be here when you get back 😊
@stephaniestevenson6335 ohhhhh....that is going to be grand. Two of the beat narrators out there. That is good news. I was hoping they would collaborate!
I've been waiting for a new release, and it is well worth it! Fantastic story and narration. Lord, this is a good one! They don't make em' like this anymore. What a reprehensible group of people! Very, very fitting consequences of their poor life decisions. Bravo! Well-done! Oh, your "Creator's Note" is awesome. The last sentence is one of the most awesome sentences I have ever read.
Thanks Jasper, for that wonderful trip back in time. Such presentation! I could just see the Jamesean houses and landscape. Great story choice. I'd never heard it before. 👏👏👏
Fabulous rendition and voice. Excellent sound effects makes this truly stand out as atmospheric and strange. The reader is a wonderfully charismatic narrator.
One of my favorites for giving me a case of the deathly hallows or as we say in the US, the all~overs is: *"Martin's Close"* & a nice little ditty by *Jasper*
I know I'm three weeks late commenting here, but I was so thrilled to see that you narrated "Kecksies"! This is one of my favorite short stories by Marjorie Bowen ("Florence Flannery" and "The Housekeeper" are my other favorites), and you did a great job on it. Keep up the good work!
Enjoyed this one, Jasper. Very atmospheric, even without your superb storytelling skills. The housekeeper Goody was an incredible character; I could see her vividly despite the only description given was of her large, clean hands. Just out of not-very-much-interest my old married name was Baitup. I can't remember where the name originates from though. ❤
😄This was such a treat!!! I just finished reading her story Black Magic and was hankering for more of her work. You always deliver and never disappoint! Another excellent example of your incredible and skillful art of storytelling! Thank you Jasper! 🐙
Bravo...to the time spent & the research you do to find these gems.... as well as the production in which you put so much effort in....& the numerous voices... Just wish you had nothing else going on that keeps you "busy". ....think of the children!
I honestly thought this was going to be a story about some haunted underpants!! It was actually a cracking tale and very dark! And not a pair of kecks to be seen!
So hard to find good horror readings on YT. Everything else is all "Crappy-Pasta" written by no-talent amateurs using the same tropes over and over, all written in first-person in a transparent attempt to mask the bland writing. Thanks Jasper, for bringing us the classics.
It's so frustrating. I suppose I could do a Community post at the same time as I do a new upload but I've read that you also get punished by the algorithm if they think you're spamming your subscribers...😔. It's just crazy to me that people who actually watch and engage (and are channel members) don't get notifications.
Talk about a creepy jeepy- (heavy euphemism warning ;) 'throwing himself upon' the married woman who spurned him. Yikes. Reminds me of John Bormann's Excalibur, Love Bowen. Cheers! ("Now you’ll put spells on US, you blankety blank!"- if iiii say that I’m censored and accts yeeted, lol- ah weeell, aye, och, aye, as me Scotts grannie'n auntie'd say).
Exercising your telepathic powers again, Mr L? I have been spending the past few days demolishing white hemlock around my place. It has a smell like the herb called rue here...one dislikes it heartily after a few hours of pulling it up. Ms Bowen perhaps could have benefited from an editor who gently steered her away from the unfortunately similar names of the characters. But your presentation is most entertaining & the source material well worth your efforts. It is, as we like to say these days, what it is.
Another fantastic, creepy story fantastically realised by a fantastic narrator. OK, I'll calm down now. Thanks Jaspwr for delivering the goods once again. 🫡

@@stephaniestevenson6335 What's this?...The only other narrator worth of the name. "Just the facts, mam" Where did you read about this?
Good singing voice there, Jasper.....Cheers!
Oh yes, he has a great voice. That Randall's Round song is AWESOME. I find myself humming it often 💜
Check out *Randall's Round* if you like Jasper's singing ... it's a good one
What a couple of charmers. This is beautifly narrated, and is a chilling grimoire indeed. Thank you for sharing. From Ruth x
Love to hear from you, Jasper ❤❤❤
Eyup, lovely.........just in time for cocoa!!!😂
Absolutely amazing! You are so talented! I think it’s genuinely genius!!Thank you so much ❤❤❤
Omg...stopping everything to sit and listen to a master author/narrator read a story about another master author 💜 And Jasper is singing!! 💜💜
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I've been going through Encrypted withdrawal!!😅
You can’t keep a good man down. Both Jasper and Richard are proof of this. Loved the story thank you.

Oh, your "Creator's Note" is awesome. The last sentence is one of the most awesome sentences I have ever read.
Well, even though you expect this ending, she gave it a little extra ghoulishness for that ending. As always, marvelously done!
Hello Jasper, I saving this for tonight, I can't wait! You had me the moment I read "two debauched noblemen"...just my cup of tea!
Thanks Mr.J. ❤❤❤ You just made my day.
Thanks Jasper,
for that wonderful trip back in time.
Such presentation!
I could just see the Jamesean houses and landscape.
Great story choice.
I'd never heard it before.
👏👏👏
Things never turn out well when you play hide and seek with the dead.
Fabulous rendition and voice. Excellent sound effects makes this truly stand out as atmospheric and strange. The reader is a wonderfully charismatic narrator.
Beautifully narrated as always Jasper.
Thank you!
I just listened to the mugwum the other night great story.

As always, I loved it Jasper. British funerary rites fascinate me.
Check out what's been happening in Hull recently...
That...a was great story superbly narrated ,Jasper that was a chilling tale.
Simply excellent!
Great story and fabulous reading! (A bit darker than I expected...)
Fantastic stuff - brilliantly narrated.
Thanks for uploading this for us, absolutely loved this tale!

Yes, that tale was good but you made it 1000 tomes better by your reading and the music ❤️
Always a treat. Thank you, Jasper.

Dude that was a great story and narration. Perfectly spooky and everything I dig about these tales
Good story-vividly told. I was confused by the fact that Horne has two names-Richard & Robert. But no one else seems to have been.
@@stnger9 There were a few inconsistencies in the source text I was using. I seem to have missed the Robert/Richard confusion when I was reading.

I do like a good period piece. Maybe it's my hammer horror youth.
👍
I honestly thought this was going to be a story about some haunted underpants!! It was actually a cracking tale and very dark! And not a pair of kecks to be seen!
Haha! I thought exactly the same! 🩲😆
Somehow, Jasper slipped this thoroughly chilling tale past me.
Love me some creepy stories :)

Well, drunks will say & do any thing will they not?🤔
