Nice comparison. It would be better to have the green set at your carry distance (not total) and see if the shots with the club in question can actually hold a green when landing on it. 12-15 yards of roll for a 7-iron is not necessarily a good thing.

I have the old t200 in this video. I carry 174 with similar spin and ball speed, 116-118mph, about 28-30 height, I don't get anywhere near 15yrd roll out, it's closer to 3-5 yrds

The last stat on your chart is the most telling. Distance from pin. You were 12 feet closer with old version. Your shots also looked straighter with the old model. I know it was only a few shots so it’s not a fair comparison completely as you really need a bunch more but this does show that if you have the old model, absolutely no need to buy the new ones.
I play the t100s and needed a gap wedge. Thankfully my club pro was able to get me one since they no longer make it as the 150 replaced it. I saw the 150 and it looked like a slightly fatter top line to me but not positive as I wasn’t looking side by side.
Titleist makes some incredible clubs and glad I switched to them this year. I have two Vokeys on order as well as my old wedges are just about done.
Thanks for the video. These comparisons are always fun.

Can’t go wrong with either. I was surprised the peak height & spin was better with the stronger lofted new ones. But yes, in this test at least, dispersion a bit tighter with old.

@@LetsPlayThru It's only couple of shots and also different shaft could change things but more ball speed, distance, speed, steeper landing angle and better feel to me is clearly tipping the scale towards the new version. They have done a really good job with these.

I switched from the old T100S to the new T200 and couldn't be happier. Great feel, control, distance and forgiveness. I even got the T200 Utility 3-Iron which is a nice option to replace hybrids. Really loving these new irons! The 100S were just too unforgiving for me (despite having an amazing forged feel)

Happy to read this. I have been playing the T100S for over a year 5-G, then I have the 4i Utility T200. I have had so much trouble with the 5 and 6 in my T100S. Has gotten so frustrating to the point that I've considered playing a hybrid instead of the 5. Finally pulled the trigger on T200 in my shaft fitting last night in a 5-6. I love the T100S 7-G, amazing club, my dispersion has gotten tighter and my spin has gone down while distances go up. Super excited for my combo set.

Im playing off 2 atm, im interested in a set of these, I'm currently using Cobra cb 5 to pw, I'm going to get t200 in 6 to gw, as they should cover the same yardages but be more forgiving in speed retention with off centre strikes... and i won't have to change my 52, 56, 60.

I love my t200s I was using 620mb but in the winter struggled, summer they were great. The only thing I don’t like is I find them hard to shot shape. They’re straight as an arrow, not a bad thing but it is if you need to navigate obstacles. I’ve been much more consistent with them.

I would love to see a comparison of a iron from ten years ago with the same loft. Like an old 6 iron compared to a new 7. Have the distance really changed? Or just the loft?

Mere Mortals carrying a 7-iron 170+ yards is quite impressive! Can the slight distance edge of the new T200 be attributed to the .5 stronger loft?

    • @LetsPlayThru

I was no a fan of the last iteration and didn’t hit as well. You seem to be swinging the club much faster this season than in past and curious if you have been working on anything in particular to gain that added yardage with your irons?

Gabe, l came back into golf 21 months ago after 22 years away from it. I started with the Titleist T300 irons. Wonderful clubs just to see if l could play at a low level again. I got down to 5 within five months of playing again. They were great clubs. As last summer went on l noticed l wasn't getting great spin into greens from second shots and felt l needed a more players type of iron. I went for the P790s although l was looking at the T200s from Titleist. The new T200 look better than the previous generation model. Titleist very seldom out a foot wrong when it comes to clubs. Great video again, Gabe 👍.

I'm not a big fan of the new loft jacked irons out there. I miss my old Mizuno's that had a 34 degree 7 iron. I could hit 165 yds, and hold the green. My last set of PXG's had a 28 degree 7 iron, and yes, it was a couple yds longer, but always found myself running off the back of the green with the lower spin.

Some people will probably conclude that there isn't enough of a difference between the two models, but (small sample size alert) increased ball speed, launch, spin, height, and carry are all in favor of the new model. Add in the fact that the narrower sole is probably going to get through the grass better than the old one. I could see getting the 150's in the short irons and the 200's in the mid irons.

I did exactly that. Did something a little unique. Went with the 2021 3 iron utility T200 (bent 2° weak) and 2021 T200 5 iron into a T150 set. Couldn’t be happier. In my fitting the new and the old were so similar I ended up going 150 4-P then buying the irons I mentioned earlier on my own and building them up. Have never been so happy with a set, and the switch was effortless.

I’ve learned over the years that it’s a lot of hype. I went from Taylormade R7CGB max irons that weren’t fitted to me to fitted stealth irons and they’re no longer, not any more forgiving nor more accurate. Should’ve spent the $1400+ on other stuff. Just practice to be more consistent and accurate and your scores will improve

I would be cautious when purchasing the T200 irons as I have owned them from new since August 2023 and the plastic backing (back of the club head) has come off on the 7 iron. Seems to be a problem Titleist are having with them. Also the cheap plastic that they have glued to the back fades dramatically and quickly making them look really worn and cheap within a few months. I'm in the process of returning mine which is unfortunate as they do perform very well.
