Great job! Welcome to the Voiceplay rabbit hole! Mind if I post some unofficial rules for listening/reacting to Geoff/Voiceplay videos? They're just something I've put together after several years of being a hardcore "Voiceplaya."
The name "Rachel" is not of European origin, so it doesn't follow the usual "female names end in A" pattern found in Indo-European names. Compare also "Elisha", which is a man's name, from the same source language. There have been a number of rather famous women named Rachel, but the most legendary by far is Rachel the wife of Jacob (the Jacob who was also known as "Israel"); she was also the mother of Joseph (the Joseph who went to Egypt and ended up in charge of grain storage) and Benjamin. Most other women named "Rachel" are named after her. Next most famous is probably Rachael Ray. But Rachel Potter is the best _musician_ named Rachel :-)
@@jonadabtheunsightly "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" was one of my favorite musicals when I was younger! There's a verse in the opening song singing about Jacob that says "He was also known as 'Israel,' but most of the time, his sons and his wives used to call him 'Dad!'" Totally off topic, sorry, but your comment made me remember it.
This was such a fun reaction! I love getting to watch people enjoy VoicePlay for the first time 😁 Rachel Potter is definitely amazing. Names of the other members -- Geoff, you know. Bald gentleman at the back left is Eli Jacobsen. Eli is pronounced like L.E. or "Ellie". Then there was Rachel, and on the right side is J. None. J. None has left the group since this video was made, but comes back to feature a lot. Bottom left is Layne, the group's class clown and beatboxer/vocal percussionist. They're all fantastic. I'll let others give you more information. Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this, and I would love to see more!
The beaboxer who also played the French chef is Layne Stein. Rachel is the guest female. She also appears in their cover of The LIttle Mermaid and many other videos.
Rachel has been featured with Voiceplay more than any other artist. She did Phantom of the Opera with them about seven or eight years ago. Her most recent, I think, is their Wicked medley.

With VoicePlay videos, let the credits roll. Sometimes there are extra bits, and often the background music is the song’s karaoke track - which is available to their Patreons as a perq.
Aw, have you never seen The Little Mermaid by Disney? Ah, we're talking classic Disney! Well worth checking out! Voiceplay does a LOT of Disney, some of them have and do work for Disneyworld. And your moment of realization at the end was adorable. Don't feel bad, it happens to the best of us! Now maybe something more current, like "Creep?" That includes VP's "newest" member, Cesar De La Rosa. He stepped in for J. None (the guy in the red jacket in this one), who was invited to sing with the US Naval choir, which is quite the honor! But J. does come back often to sing with the group. Like in Valhalla Calling, my favorite song by them, and it features both J. None AND Cesar, which is my favorite Voiceplay lineup! (They've been around for like 20 years, so the group members change a bit.)
Another great Voiceplay cover is "Just Sing". It's a HUGE collaboration with MANY other a capella artists. If/when you do that one, be sure to turn on the captions. They included information about who everyone is, as well as a few snarky remarks.

Very fun to see your intro to Voiceplay. Look up their version of "i knew you were trouble" for very early collaboration with Rachel, and their Wicked Medley and Phantom of the Opera for a couple EPIC collabs. Welcome to the rabbit hole 😊
Rachel (RAY-Chelsea) has the perfect Disney Princess voice. She played Ariel at Disney for over 5 years and sang this song multiple times a day.
Geoff, Layne (beatboxer) and Earl (high tenor who left in 2020) met in middle school and have been singing together ever since. (Rachel and Eli also went to school in the same area and competed against them in singing competitions in high school .)
They used to perform under another group name and around 2010 they rebranded themselves as VoicePlay. Around that same time they brought in Eli (pronounced L-E) Jacobsen as a tenor. Their beatboxer had left and Layne switched over from baritone to take that spot. At that time Tony Wakim became the baritone until around 2017. J None (Black baritone who left in 2021) took that spot. When he was recruited by the US Navy, Cesar De La Rosa joined as their baritone/tenor.
They have always liked to bring in guest artists, but since around 2020 they’ve been one permanent member short and fill in that fifth spot with a guest who is especially suited for that song.
I’ve listed all that because I’m hoping you’re going to continue reacting to VoicePlay and it can be a little confusing with the personnel changes.
They are amazing and it is a 🐇hole you WANT to go down! If you like the Disney stuff: Moana & We don't talk about Bruno (Encanto) are musts! They have a huge genre range, so if you have a favourite genre then choose a song and go for it! 🌹🕊
You should check out Voiceplay's song In The Hall Of The Mountain King. No lyrics but it is fantastic!
