You're quite right. The song appeared in Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame, sung by one man of course. And yes he was the villain. It's the darkest song Disney ever did in a movie.
I've never seen Disney's version of Hunchback of Notre Dame. I would not have recognized it, or known what it was about if I weren't a patron of Voiceplay. When they presented it on Patreon, they gave the background. Geoff did not want to do this piece, the character is so evil but presents himself as virtuous. Layne did the arrangement and convinced him to do it. It was absolutely mesmerizing, I binge watched it for days before it was released to the public. Great reaction, guys!! I look forward to more reactions to Voiceplay and Geoff!
Extremely difficult song - and not one Geoff wanted to do as he really did not like Frollo's character (super evil!) - but eventually he relented and did Hellfire. He did a great job! They are all so amazing here - their vocals and the beatboxing TOP notch. 🌹🕊
It had been many years since I had seen Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame, so I went on Disney+ and watched it I then watched the Voiceplay video again with much more comprehension. Voiceplay did a magnificent job.
Minister Frollo (Geoff's part) is split into the 4 singers, Geoff's part is what he feels he is, J None implores Maria to protect him, Eli is black or white - she either comes to him or Esmerelda will burn, Cesar is blaming God for making the devil so much stronger than a man. It is Disney's most evil villain.
One of the most evil villains ever on a disney stage... Evil because he not only believes himself to be good, But so thoroughly invested in his own goodness that any evil is acceptable. Burning down the city... Killing thousands... It's all justified as far as he's concerned. There is a reason that it took us three years to convince Geoff to do this one.
OK @melodiemal : NEWS FLASH ... YOU'RE NOT PERFECT. With your attitude you need some duct tape over your mouth so such awful thoughts can't escape you.
There's nothing wrong with a completely blind reaction. Sometimes it's better. They didn't know anything about the song but was still able to extrapolate what it was about from the video. Ivory was able to relate the character to a churchman for instance.

I didn't know the song either. Not everyone has seen the movie. There's no need to be so rude.
