It adds level of mystique and how hard it was to get that keyboard. Also keeps reminding us of that its a difference between west and east, or in this case India.
As a keyboard enthusiast, I can safely say this keyboard is still a great deal compared to many "gamer" cheap keyboards. Many Cherry clones are actually BETTER than the original Cherry MX switches, take a look at Gateron or Outemu (kailh is also great, Cherry MX is basically canceled at this point). Anti ghosting is just a load of marketing bullshit. Ghosting is when you press a key, and it registers a completely different key, all keyboards have anti-ghosting IT IS LITERALLY NECESSARY FEATURE FOR THE KEYBOARD'S FUNCTION. So we got past anti-ghosting. It's like marketing a car having functioning brakes as a special feature. Now on to the RGB, it looks silly in disgusting in my opinion, while the TVS has a beautiful vintage-like design. But hey, whatever floats your boat I guess.
Because it's so God Damn good. Mine's 8 years old and still works like a charm, the only thing I have to look out for whenever using that is whether the rig has a PS2 port Edit: mine has the original cherry ones though
ye but the mechanical switches are way more comfortable than membrane and the old mechanical-like switches. But they break easier since they are a more complicated mechanism and I dd say getting 5-8 years off of them is pretty darn good
I had one till about 4 years ago. Spilled a little (like a spoonful) water on it once. It stopped working immediately. Not even a chance to dry it out or something. Later took it apart to test what went wrong. Apparently it shorted, somehow. Was great while it lasted but I am not a fan of large Enter keys (The EU layout is worse. Had to tolerate one at work for almost 2 years). I prefer brown switches now anyway. Still, the old TVS Gold was pretty much the only affordable mechanical kb we Indians had access to before the RGB rage really caught on.
I m an Indian, So i know this decrease in quality and increase in price, I bought this keyboard wayyy back in 2006, stopped working in 2013.. When I contacted my local dealer about buying new one he was using the newer version When I tried that, I kinda knew what's changed, the keyboard response and feel both had changed.. So, I went for a Shitty 400 Rs Keyboard.. lol.. I said, if I m to use chinese crap, i would use 8$ crap rather then using freakin 40$ crap that time 1$ used to be 50 Rs. and keyboard was around 2100 Rs Freakin all this days, all its happening in INDIA in manufacturing is, Get chinese innerparts of product, assemble and Sell at price that would rip of ppl to core Total crap and bull shit going on in product manufacturing :(
yeah , its a sad situation. Till 2017 they were producing these with cherry mx blues, the original ones. I have a 2012 model and its still going strong.
This! This is exactly what people need to understand. Instead, they are blinded by the branding and misplaced nationalism and they unwittingly climb aboard the hype train of overpriced mediocrity..
My uncle gave one to me because he had a spare one lying around. I took a keycap off when I get home and see it's a cherry mx blue one. Feels like hitting a gold mine. (note that this happened in 2020)
cherry MX really isn't that special, I feel the word "clone" is thrown around a lot by people who aren't familiar with the mech keys market. At this point, the "clones" actually make cherry look bad, I remember using Kailh box white click bars for the first time, which use a different design form the click jacket in MX blues, but still have the same concept of the switch being "clicky," and they put blues to shame, the click feels sharper and cleaner, the sound is nice and thick, people really need to start looking at Kailh, Gateron, and Novelkeys more, as they have made so many improvements to their old designs that they arent really clones anymore like they were around 2012.
The music and the fart was the best part of the video, not meaning that Indian music stinks, or the keyboard, or Indian people owww.. I'll stop now 🙈 🤣
Omg a foreigner just reviewed the TVS fuckin gold!? But it sucks nowadays cause it's actually not really a good deal anymore considering that the better keyboards are getting cheaper
the cherry switches that were used in TVS keyboards were made by zf electronics TVS, the joint company that is owned by TVS and ZF Friedrichshafen, the owners of the cherry brand. Their factories in India are still operational and they still make the cherry mx switches and various switches for automotive and industrial applications. I don't get why TVS stopped using the switches when they have almost free access to them. The only USP for the TVS gold and the reason for their legendary durability were the real cherry switches that they came with. I don't know why anyone would buy them anymore.

kalih switches aren't chinese clones, I can say that they are some of the best clicky switches out there, and they are actually better than cherry in the clicky department.
Their box clickies are (much) better, being a different design. Kaihua's standard switches are Chinese clones, not particularly good ones. Gateron and Outemu blues are both more consistent and less rattly in my experience. Not really any worse than the real deal though.
I read the reviews for the other alternatives with more switch options and RGB, just to find out they have average after-sales service and die within a few days of purchase, on the contrary people who bought their TVS Gold's back in the early 2000s still have them in working condition and don't wish to switch to any other keyboard.

I am using these keyboard from last 10 years and i hit enter key millions of time but its still solid ,thats why we indian loved it
that may not be the case with these chinese keys anymore.
Yup, I don't really understand why did they change it. it was good as it was why change. stupid decision. Even After that, they increased the price OMFG.
@Holy Knight Can you stop. Not all indians are poor. This is very rude. I get that you disagree that the keyboard isn't good, but no need to be insulting. You have been reported to UA-cam and your comment should be deleted in a while.

Why do English UA-camrs Necessarily need to use an Indian Background Music in a Video related to Indian Stuff?😂
(Edit: *stop liking my post that much*)
It adds level of mystique and how hard it was to get that keyboard. Also keeps reminding us of that its a difference between west and east, or in this case India.

How do you know its for views and subscribers? Stop guessing everyone's like you. Selfish and pathetic bitch.
@BoxGAMING you are the one who needs to shut up. You are clearly 7 year old that just spam some swears without reasoning
The background music makes me feel as if I am watching the video on Doordarshan.
Ikr😂😂
Hahaha
😂😂😂😂
Because it's so God Damn good.
Mine's 8 years old and still works like a charm, the only thing I have to look out for whenever using that is whether the rig has a PS2 port
Edit: mine has the original cherry ones though
Ps2 to USB adapters have been around for ages.
ye but the mechanical switches are way more comfortable than membrane and the old mechanical-like switches. But they break easier since they are a more complicated mechanism and I dd say getting 5-8 years off of them is pretty darn good
Most motherboards should have at least one PS2 port, so no need to buy an adapter just yet.

I m an Indian, So i know this decrease in quality and increase in price,
I bought this keyboard wayyy back in 2006, stopped working in 2013..
When I contacted my local dealer about buying new one he was using the newer version
When I tried that, I kinda knew what's changed, the keyboard response and feel both had changed..
So, I went for a Shitty 400 Rs Keyboard.. lol.. I said, if I m to use chinese crap, i would use 8$ crap
rather then using freakin 40$ crap that time 1$ used to be 50 Rs. and keyboard was around 2100 Rs
Freakin all this days, all its happening in INDIA in manufacturing is,
Get chinese innerparts of product, assemble and Sell at price that would rip of ppl to core
Total crap and bull shit going on in product manufacturing :(
yeah , its a sad situation. Till 2017 they were producing these with cherry mx blues, the original ones. I have a 2012 model and its still going strong.
"If I'm to use a chinese crap, i would use a 8$ crap" - Right on point.
This! This is exactly what people need to understand. Instead, they are blinded by the branding and misplaced nationalism and they unwittingly climb aboard the hype train of overpriced mediocrity..

+aniMEanie01 I cant disagree on that statement now, can I? :)
My father uses 3 of these keyboards in his shop since 2015 and it is still working perfectly fine till now with no problem what so ever
I used TVS Gold for 4-5 years, spilled coffee, beer, coke and the damn thing still worked, needed silicone oil though. Water spill killed it.

My uncle gave one to me because he had a spare one lying around. I took a keycap off when I get home and see it's a cherry mx blue one. Feels like hitting a gold mine. (note that this happened in 2020)
True , I also have one in , I got it in 2015, it still works really really good plus they are cherry mx blue.....
lucky boi
Well i have been using that keyboard for last 1 year got cheery mx keys.
cherry MX really isn't that special, I feel the word "clone" is thrown around a lot by people who aren't familiar with the mech keys market.
"Why do Indians love this keyboard?"
Coz its cheap and being an Indian myself i can confirm that that is EXACTLY why we love that keyboard
i didn't even know that enter key and backspace shapes actually had any meaning !
My whole life is a lie

it gets very annoying when you type a lot
Akash Singh it’s frustrating but you can get used to it with time, I still prefer the longer one, size matters.

Nobody really does hear them in India

0:29 that actually translates to

4:02 the power of Indian products XD
the cherry switches that were used in TVS keyboards were made by zf electronics TVS, the joint company that is owned by TVS and ZF Friedrichshafen, the owners of the cherry brand.
Maybe because they can sell those switches for higher profit instead of putting them in a low cost keyboard..

kalih switches aren't chinese clones, I can say that they are some of the best clicky switches out there, and they are actually better than cherry in the clicky department.
