True. I bought my Rog 5s 2 years ago, now, i don't have any software updates. My biggest regret ever. Lol. Might as well upgrade to Samsung s24 when it releases
I have been using ROG phones since ROG phone 2. Currently using ROG phone 6. I loved the fact that the front camera was in the bassel instead of the screen and also I loved the front facing speakers. Now, the thing that I hate the most, the punch-hole camera has been added to ROG 8.... Very disappointed....
Right for me this was the worst design i have seen on rog,why they try to become normal phone is just absurd to me,that punch hole camera was ugly ass i would say,also they ditch the front facing speaker just outrageous bad move,at this price phone better get red magic 8 or 9 for me now
my guess with that punch-hole camera thing is that those screen are cheaper to get from factory since mainstream phone uses them.... concidering the price of the phone i feel like they're being cheap on the engineering side of things, it's just sad

Usually rich people buy these gaming phones and they switch within 3-4yrs. But this time they should have given 3OS updates(atleast) since they moved to more convention daily driver format.
I think it is not for middle classes , yesterday my rog 3 phone dropped ,and display became fully black now the repairing is around 12k, Which is high for me after 3years of users
All series of rog phones are weak and bulky and overkill

I think it's probably due to very less people buy a dedicated gaming phone that working on updates might not worth the cost to them

Specially when they provide superior audio and also they are more practical for gaming

Updates wise cos I have heard that users don't get updates on redmagic devices in India and the lack of service centres scares me to for the Red Magic series

It actually happened what I feared. They removed the bezel. Thick bezel is very necessary for gaming.
Android smartphone is supported multi task in background so more ram is very helpful 🔥

This is the first ROG Phone i genuinely like. I've been looking forward to what's going to be the 8 Gen 4 since QC bought Nuvia though, so we'll see what next year brings

Asus ROG is not ROG anymore, ROG 8 is lacking the design theme of ROG series. Yeah they addressed the camera, but should have given the front firing speaker with all display only and front camera in the frame.

Which is a better one? one plus 12 or rog 8 pro. Other than the curve and flst screen, one plus seems to top rog in hardware or at the very least on par with it. Someone care to explain which is better? Thank you for your time cuz i having a hard time deciding. Using for both gaming and daily

Having a higher ram is just a gimmick. 8 gigs is more than enough until unless the OS has the best RAM optimisation.

How are the speakers and macro pictures now. I'm leaning towards the 7 at this point. Smaller battery is a killer. Wider is also weird, it's already wide, so I figure it would be worse to hold.
I wish they would put the screen thing near the camera. I use a metal plate for magnets and I just cover up the display in that position.
The speakers are now pretty shit, because instead of having 2 asymetric front firing speakers now you only 1 front and the other at the bottom therefore the stereo will be no longer be a true stereo, also smaller battery, and worse thermals and worse aeroactive cooler accessory than now only has 2 buttons instead of 4 and no longer has a subwoofer to enhance the sound power and quality of the phone and still manage to cost the same with less, and that UGLY ASS punchhole camera no wonder Blackshark are no longer making phones after this failure of the blackshark 5 and 5 pro with those nipple camera

If you're a serious mobile gamer, you know the annoying issue with slim phone while gaming. You cant hold the phone comfortably in landscape when gaming for hours and I'm pretty sure it gets hotter compare with thicker phone not to mention a smaller battery. Another thing is if you have smaller hand, forget about the air trigger.
I love the phone and would have gotten one but the lack of software update not past 2 years is a deal breaker.

I lost a phone due to water damage, so I'm always extra careful and leave my ROG 5 at home when raining or when I go near water bodies. Upgrading to the ROG 8 only for the IP68 would be good for my anxiety 😅

Bhai bilkul bekar hai Rog phone 8 abhi tak ka it doesn't have front firing speakers+ built in dac + advance level optimisation for chipset in armoury crate it makes it unique in it's segment
just because of to given bezel less design and a honey bee on the top i personally hate this kind of design and camera with not on par with other phones as well and comes with 1 lakh of rs .

- Selfie punched hole

Currently on a Redmi note 10 pro with a punch hole so miniscule it's pretty much ignored by your brain 80% of the time.
But I'll be real, I want it gone.
I've taken 0 selfies in 2+ years, the front facing camera is useless aside from face unlock, which I can 100% sacrifice any day of the week.
500 mAh less capacity is not something very important imo, 5500 mAh is still pretty good, selfie punch hole is probably going to be under display camera in the next 1 or 2 ROG Phones, but i'll 100% agree that ditching the dual front facing speakers is a real shame, The RedMagic 9 Pro is pretty much better (except on camera performance, of course)

Probably as future proof for emulation..since the SoC is already more than capable of running current demand.. probably developers will start to make PS3 emulator for Androids in near future..

1)the bezels with front cam and speakers were not an issue for true gamers,
2)6000mAh battery still gave more peace of mind.
3)3yrs os update is a must in this day and age, it's not like they're doing R&D for multiple devices like Samsung. They should figure out a better way to provide os updates. If Samsung can do it they can too.

Yes they finally got ip68 is great but in my opinion the phone still is expensive because it has alot less Os update compare to iphone Samsung and google pixel and cost about the same if not more and still have less Os support etc

Really curious how the camera will perform. Battery is smaller, thats a downer, the total 6000mah was a great USP for previous models, why go backwards.. 24gig of ram is a waist.
It's still a big battery, i expect it to be fine. as chips get more efficient batteries last longer as well
