- Forgot your Windows 7 Password (This is not a HACK), You can reset Password without CD Or any software using CMD.
In this video we will show you how can you do that but if u have any windows Bookable CD there is a second way to reset password, just check our other video for that.

guys if you dont find ur sethc folder do this
1)Find the icon Utilman, and rename it to "utilman1"
2)find cmd and create a copy and rename it "utilman"
3)start windows again and on the bottom left corner u will se the utilman icon click on it and your cmd should open
4)type:control userpasswords2
5)select your PC and change password

Michele Metzger did you rename the files right?Utilman Is the bottom left corner when you are about to input your password and cmd always pops ou.Try again and check if you renamed the files right

For all people on laptops, to get launch repair, open your laptop and when it says starting windows hold down power button. Open up your laptop again and the launch option is there.

Tried this on an old pc which we couldn't remember the password of.
This works! No scam and this isn't one of those spam comments. This literally works. So try this.
To get to the start option, I just clicked F8 a couple of times. It took a while but when I got into the setup thing, I followed instruction and it worked.
I'm cautious of the side effect yet to come, if any.

Hell yeah I love this, I could changed my friend/teacher PC password every time I want to prank them.
a easier way to get into repair mode is to restart your computer and keep pressing F8 on your keyboard during the rebooting process.

Boot the pc, wait for windows logo to appear. Turn off pc when the windows logo appears.
Turn on the PC and Launch Repair should be an option on the screen.

If you're doing a reset for a username that has two words in it like Bob Ross or something, put quotation marks around the user name for that PW reset step, so instead of it reading net user Admin *, you'd need to enter net user "Bob Ross" *

I didnt get he "System could not fix the peoblem automatically thingy" where you could click the link etc. It jus goes straight to "Click finish to restart" something.

Did everything and kept hitting Shift thinking it could work, after hitting it more than 15 times i remembered, I disabled my sticky keys pop up.
in the bottom corner of the login screen, go into the "ease of access" menu. you can restore sticky keys from there

Then it should shut down. Now, turn your computer on again then that black screen should come up.
Press 'Repair Computer.' Now follow the steps!

I also suggest typing in a password rather than leaving it blank. It won't pick up what you type but it's definitely inputting it so be careful.

I had to press shift about 10 times before the command box popped up. 5 times wasn't enough. I'm using an integrated USB mouse/ keyboard on a dell 745, so maybe that had something to do with it. BUT I got it to work. Many thanks!

When the laptop says starting windows hold the power button then turn ur laptop back on then that option will be available
January 2018 and it still works. If you don't find "sethc" make sure you are on the right windows32 folder.

Same for me. All steps went fine, but after leaving blank and logging in, didn't work.
I did get it to work by just typing in a password rather than leaving it blank. It's tricky because the cursor doesn't move when you do it, but it worked perfectly after that. So thankful!

The setup repair message doesn't show up for me
When the windows logo appears as it's booting up you need to turn off the power. I tried over and over unplugging it like he said but it wouldn't. You need to just shut it down as the screen is black and the little dots come together to make the logo :) I hope it's not too late but it worked for me

yeah I also need help because when I'm on the login screen and I just unplug the power cord and plug it back in it says Windows did not shutdown successfully if this was due to the system not responding or if the system was shut down to protect data you might be able to recover by choosing one of the safe mode configurations from the menu below and the only options it has is safe mode safe mode with networking safe mode with command prompt and start Windows normally
Christianpreaching I was having the same issue as well. Tried the process 3 different times hoping I could get the window open quick enough and it would stick. Came back to the comments and found this. Alt-Tab does work! All it does is call up the original window that’s still open in the background behind the recovery manager that pops up and places it in the foreground again so you can continue on with the steps. Definitely a helpful tip for future use!

Note: I did not have any files under Local Disk (C:). I had 4 hard disk drives instead of 2 and Local Disk was renamed and had nothing in it so I just randomly used any of the other hard disk drives listed on my computer and did the same process and IT WORKED! Thanks a ton, I bought a Acer Aspire 7741 laptop for $10 at a local thrift shop but it was locked (they didnt know the pass either) but now it isnt! Its got nothing in it except Sims 2...

It is not ALWAYS the C drive, you need to select the drive that has your windows install, in my case D.

Holy cow. I was tearing my hair out - December 2017 - still works! Saved my family's computer. Struggled a little bit until I realized I forgot to enter the star at the end of the command. Now my only question is - do I have to go back and change those files back that I changed?

2023 and still helpful, only video that worked for me out of a sea of incompetent garbage. My power button wasn't working, so if you want to do this without a functioning power button on a laptop remove the battery halfway through startup.
Feb 2018 still works. They should really add a feature to send you a code to reset your password. Not to mention patch this so it's not so easy to get into anyone's PC.

April 2018 - still works. I had to switch off the laptop by holding power button during the windows boot up to get the error message.
