UPDATE: Having issues? Check out this sort video that repeats all required settings again: • Astro A50 + USB Dac Tr...
UPDATE 2: This is now also confirmed to work for the Astro A40s.
Using a PS5 + Astro A50/A40 and a monitor for 120 FPS gaming? You must have ran into the issue where you can only connect your Astros via USB, with terrible audio quality, loss of EQ settings and the game/voice balancing features. Astro suggests purchasing the HDMI Splitter but this does not work with HDMI 2.1 games, which is most likely the reason you got a monitor in the first place!
There is a $30 solution which easy to set up and restores the A50/40 to it's former glory.
It's called an "USB Audio Dac" and you use it to convert USB Audio into Optical, which you then use to connect your Astro A50 Base Station.. like this:
PS5 -- usb cable -- USB Dac -- optical cable -- Astro A40/A50 Base Station
Preface: I never make videos but I really thought this needs to be known more widely. I honestly can't believe there is a solution for something that has been a huge problem for so many customers, that can be resolved relatively easily. So here we go..
In this video I show you how to set it up. This solution is ideal for those using a monitor without optical output. The only known limitation I've found is that Dolby Digital output seems to be disabled in the PS5 UI, but that setting is known to distort/echo the sound/imaging for competitive games (like CoD) anyways, and this is where the EQ features of the Asto A50 come in.
Written diagram/settings:
Step 1 - Audio Output Setting
1. Connect USB Dac via USB to your PS5
2. Connect Astro A50 via optical cable to USB Dac
3. In your PS5 go to Sound -- Output Device -- and select "USB Headset (USB Audio Device)
Step 2 - Microphone A50 Setup
1. Connect your Astro A50s via mini-usb to USB to your PS5
2. In your PS5 go to Sound -- Microphone -- Input and select "USB Headset (Astro A50)
Other notes:
In the PS5 Audio settings I'd recommend to turn off the "Switch Output Device Automatically" because this can switch your Voice/Mic input away from the A50s to the USB Dac sometimes. Just set it up once and then turn auto switching off :-)

I just got my A50’s yesterday and I can’t believe we have to resort to modding our tvs and consoles just to get the A50’s to work with current game specs when Logitech/Astro can easily just release a 2.1 HDMI/Optical adapter. Nonetheless, THANK YOU for doing the community a much needed service with this helpful video.
you can thank sony/microsoft for being cheap to push their own headsets. a optical port is literall only 10$ lol
I just got mine in today and I am ECSTATIC to report that this works even better than I anticipated. Now I don’t even get that annoying drop out in audio that the hdmi splitter would cause when switching to 120hz crucible in D2. Now I’m able to not only have 120hz at 4k but i don’t drop out of party chat momentarily when going in and out of PvP. THANK YOU
fuck i thought i was the only one that cops that audio drop after pvp
Super happy to hear that dude! That's why I made the video 🙂
Yo it’s not working. How did you do it ? I just got mines and there’s no sound on my astros
@@Unknown_Meliodas have you checked out this 2nd video? It goes over all the settings again: ua-cam.com/video/ioGH1Nv-5ZU/v-deo.html

You’re a life saver bro…I just dropped $200 on my a40’s with the mix amp and have been researching for like 2 days now on why it wouldn’t work 😭🤟🏼
Where did you find this audio dac? Or you buy a different one?
This WORKS! Not sure why no one figured this out sooner. It really is such a simple solution. Thank you for discovering it and sharing!
and can you change balance between game sound and party chat on your headset?
@@daviddi7702 yes.
Can you run 120fps 1440p? And does sound and mix work on the a50s?
@@Unknown_Meliodas yes, you can. The sound and mix work perfectly and you get access to the presets programmed into the headset. The only thing you lose is Dolby 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound. You have to run them in stereo, but I find that better for directional audio in FPS games.
@@landoctor94 is there any cables I need extra that don’t come with the item
thank you man was searching a long time for an issue, i think this is the best issue to use the astro and get all hdmi stuff like 2.1 vrr 1440p etc. the only thing is that dolby is not supported by this but the sound is okay. It is also nice that this fix another problem that i got, when i plug my usb from base station into pc (for dc or something) i was not able to become game sound from ps5 but with the dac it is easy and all works finally. Astro just had to release an 2.1 hdmi adapter and we saved a lot stress ..
THANK YOU!!! I have been looking for this solution for quite some time!
You are welcome!
Thank you so much for this. Came across your post on Reddit. I was so frustrated I couldn’t use either my Astro A40/A50’s, and ended up buying the Steelseries Artic Nova’s. But after watching this I can now use my Astro A40’s and still get 4K 120hz on Warzone. Thanks so much!!
You are welcome! Happy to hear this!
Your not getting 4k 120 on warzone lol get a grip
I can comfirm thats this works perfectly for Astro A40 tr pro.
Thank you so much for making this video. It works perfectly, Some people say that they lose dolby, you dont from what I can tell. I have dolby set up in the ps5 settings, audio is the same if you have it in pcm or dolby. Sounds just like if you were using the hdmi audio extractor. I tried it on my other 2 ps5's and audio is the same.
Again thank you for this information.
I cancelled my order of an HDMI 2.1 optical splitter and am going this route instead for my A40s. Much cheaper and seems more likely to actually work with what I need it to do
@@dillonswain4903 it works man.

Mine works fine?
If you want to use your Astros with the ps5 the same way you used it on the PS4, you will need an hmdi 2.1 audio extractor. This video will get you majority of the features of the Astros, but it will not let you change the game and voice volume separately.
Which one do you recommend?
Thanks so much for the solution!! I was in a bit of a panic trying figure out how I was going to upgrade my ps5 set up for the new warzone when the Astro Splitter was capping me at 1080p! Liked and subscribed

I really appreciate this video as I have a pair of Astro A40 TR’s and a PS5.
However, for Christmas I upgraded my monitor from a 4K/60hz to a 2K/270hz. Obviously like many others watching and commenting, I was unable to get 2K/120hz on my PS5 when trying to play MW2. We all found out that the reason why is because Sony did not include an optical port on the PS5, and Astro made a piss poor converter/extractor that does not support 2K/120hz. I have found a HDMi 2.1 2K/120hz extractor but it’s $120-$130. I might as well just buy a new amp at that point or headset…
I am going to try your solution as my thoughts on converting into usb was what led me to finding your video. Thank you and I will share my results with everyone to help others out experiencing the same issues.
The adapter/converter DAC that you have linked is not available. I have found a few others. Here is a link to the one I ordered.
LiNKFOR USB DAC and Headphone Amplifier, Coaxial/Optical/6.35mm Headphone Output, USB to Coaxial S/PDIF Digital to Analog Converter Comaptible with Windows XP 7 10 and Mac PS4 PS3 a.co/d/6eyiBAQ
Wanted to follow up with a comment. I purchased the optical usb converter DAC linked above and it works! I am able to hear my PS5 audio on Dolby 5.1/7.1 with the adapter connects to the mixamp via Opitcal cable. I also was able to stream and have my audio go through to OBS easily via my elgato. Thank you!
I am having trouble with these settings to get the audio to OBS when trying to stream through my elgato 4K60 Pro. Any suggestions? When I go to all audio on PS5 it does not go to my stream. Only way it goes to my stream is if I change the audio from USB to Astro mixamp.
So instead of the separate Astros adapter I use this? I appreciate the video it’s a disgrace that we’re two years into the new generation of gaming and Astros still hasn’t updated their stuff
But for my output Device set to USB Headset(Astro Mixamp Pro) & if i switch it only HDMI Device (TV) and i buy the PROZOR 192k digital to analog Audio Converter. For my microphone Inout device is Set to USB Headset (Astro Mixamp Pro).
I have used both the Astro Adapter and this USB Dac.
I am facing different issues using both.
While using the Astro Adapter:
- Sound works fine as if the PS5 had optical input.
- I cant get 120hz at 1440P
- I can get 120hz at 1080p only if i use EDID emulator (another adapter)
- Voice chat/game sound is adjustable
While using the USB Dac:
- I can get 120hz at 1440p
- Voice Chat/Game sound not adjustable
- Sound is lower than the HDMI splitter (in my opinion).
I have communicated my issue with Astro since they advertised that the Adapter could work at 120hz/1440p but im not sure if they would find a solution.
Sony has missed up everything by removing the Optical Input...
How’d you get it to work? The Dac he recommended isn’t working I’m about to cry
I just switched to the dac and you’re right the sound is much lower and people in voice chat sound very weird now. Honestly ide rather use the Astro adapter it sounds way better.
The Astro MixAmp Pro has the same issue with the new Xbox Series X/S. My previous Xbox One X had an optical cable which sounded great with the Mixamp and the A40 headset, but with my new Xbox Series S, there is no optical out and the sound through the USB port alone is not good. It's literally like 50% the volume and quality of what I had before. Unless you have an optical cable option, the Astro Mixamps aren't good.
This do not work the voice and chat are still on the same channel. The point of being like the old setup was for you not to use the "all audio". I'm not sure if you can still use the EQ settings. I can toggle through them but I don't know if it's working.
Same problem game/chat balance not work
I’m assuming this won’t work with my gen 3 Astro a40 tr
When I put output audio settings to USB AUDIO FOR THE DAC it doesnt work. when i put it to USB HEADSET ASTRO A50 it works but not well the directional sound sucks
Wait, does this make you lose surround sound? Because that's not worth it for me unfortunately
You don't lose surround sound. You lose Dolby Digital 5.1 if you'd use it for watching movies using that format. It does not affect sound in games like Warzone etc. Also the virtual Dolby surround still works as well.
Does this allow you to use the mixer for the game chat/game audio
I've got one of these coming tomorrow. Dose the dac work straight out of the box or dose it need updating.
It works straight out of the box!
Excellent ! I finally got ahold of a ps5 and was trying to figure out how to get my a50s to work. I didn't want to get Astros splitter since in hampered the frame rate. I was even considering buying a different headset all together but non have the features I like on the a50s
Thanks for the video. This doesnt seem to be available on amazon right now but i found another one that i'm going to give a try. It's a USB-C with an optical splitter so it can output to two devices. Someone in the comments of the product said it works for PS5 so now i just need to figure out how to get my ingame mic working. wish me luck!
Can you let me know the product name? If it works I can update the video description to point people to that solution as well

@Low yes. The PS5 has a usb-c on the front so I plugged the optical splitter into that and it sees the audio device as. Usb sound card. I plugged an optical cable into the splitter and the other end into the astro mixamp for a test. It works fine and I couldn't believe how much louder the mixamp is using optical vs usb.

Hi Bowe,
Many thanks for raising this! Just received my DAC and connected as you suggested (Ps5 USB to DAC, Digital to Astro's base station (input); Ps5 USB to Astro's base station) and settings for Microphone Input Device (USB Headset (Astro A50)) and Audio Output for Headphones (USB Headset (USB Audio Device)) but unfortunately not getting any sound on the Astro headphones.
Any clue? Wondering if related to any other sound settings, would you mind sharing them also (HDMI Device Type; Audio Format (Priority))?
Thx
More details :)
Tested restarting the console and the settings changed automatically even if I have the Switch Output Device Automatically turned off:
Microphone Input Device changed to USB Headset (USB Audio Device)
Output Device changed to HDMI Device (TV)
SOLVED! It was due to the Output to Headphones that changed automatically to Voice Chat Audio. Changed to All Audio and boom, magic happening! Many thanks mate!!!!!
And when you change it to all audio it doesn't sound as good as it would normally
unfortunately, due to firmwareissue, my Astro A50 always suddenly "shutdown" while optical in use on PS5
HELP! My astro adapter was a total scam, it doesnt support 1440p 120fps at all. Are you saying this adapter does support?
Is there any others that work for 1440 at 120 I need one but it’s sold out
This wouldn’t affect your resolution or refresh rate as you connect your hdmi straight into the console but yeah I can’t find a single product identical to this anywhere online
I biught the DAC there is no USB port in it what do I do can u write the steps down?
Hey thanks for finding something that finally supports 120hz for astros, but do you really lose dolby surround sound function with this audio splitter??
Hey guys, I cant get the voice chat balanse to work. It just turns up or down the master volume?
Dose anyone have a solution?
This has always worked weirdly for me too.. I was never able to pinpoint why this happened, I think it's related to the Astro software. It worked somewhat for me, but never consistently. You should be able to still use the party chat / game audio slider via the PS5 settings.
WTF is wrong with SONY!? No 2k Native, No USB UAC2 support which is now required and used by most amp/dac, No SPDIF output(optical). In terms of audio we are going back to 2005 and in term of image they are still behind Microsoft.
Tempest 3d audio is a nice add to make cheap audio system feel decent but on the other hand, the removal of SPDIF and the lack of UAC2 support make high-end audio system sound trash. The HDMI over display port is another way to sell SONY TV.
Can i still pair my ps5 with my pc if I use this. Becuase with the current adapter I cant us ps5 and Pc audio at the same time. I was able to when I used my ps4
It isn't astros fault. It's Sony's fault for not including a optical port andthat is because it costs more to include it.
Thanks a lot. It’s a pity that Astro doesn’t fully support their most expensive headset.I use a PS5 + Astro A50 + Samsung G7 odyssey monitor 32. It should work perfectly…. But it doesn’t. You can’t play games 120 Hz. I also deal with random disconnections of the deck from PS5. As you said you are limited to 60 because of the Astro adapter…
Does this adapter you recommended have any specific characteristics? Thanks in advance.
Im in exactly the same situation but I have the Gigabyte M28U monitor. So check out the amazon links in my description, there are two USB Dac links that are confirmed to work. Basically it needs to be a USB DAC with the USB Audio 1 spec. It can be tricky to find those because most of them support the newer USB Audio 2 spec, which the PS5 does not support! So long story short get one of the two i listed in the description and follow the video, and the problem will be solved! Let me know once you've set it all up :-)
@@BoweFrankema thanks
I’ve finally decided to sell the A50. It’s a 350€ headset of problematic compatibility with the PS5. The DAC solution you recommend is good but does it worth the try and getting no Dolby, from a system that is supposed to provide me, regarding its high cost, the maximum performance???….
I’m getting the SteelSeries 7P+ soon.

Is not only Astro, Astro is the only headset company trying to fix this nightmare, the problem is Sony blocking all 3rd party headsets , if you own tv you good just change some setting on your tv like pass through and hdmi input bitstream using the optical connection and you get full 5.1ch Dolby digital surround without losing resolution oh frame oh 2.1 bandwidth, and that’s te best audio you can get from the ps5 and is joke , if you only connect your headset again whatever high end headset to the usb from the ps5 good luck that sht is going to sound like 10$ headphone from Walmart without eq settings and only 2ch and audio chat with game audio mixed
Is there a Canadian version? I’m finding it hard to buy it here, it’s not sold on the Amazon canadian site. There are other brands that look similar but I’m not sure if I can trust it.
Can I get some help buying here in Canada? 🇨🇦
Would really appreciate it.
Is the sound quality really exactly the same compared to through native optical?
Yes it is!
Hello, I bought the USB DAC and I connected DAC with PS5 via USB and DAC to Soundblaster via optical cable. Then Soundblaster is connected to PS5 via USB and to Astro A40 with 2 jacks. If I switch in PS5 the settings as you did, I can hear through the headphone but I cannot speak so I need to change microphone output again coming back to Soundblaster. So it seems I cannot split Audio from microphone. Am I missing something?
I can’t hear shit but can talk. I’m literally about to cry this sucks
Can you write down the step by step setup in description?
Or maybe an updated video showing us how to set it up step by step
Should i connect the optical out or in on the base station?
I'm confused on how to hook it up
How would this work for PC. I am out of USB inputs I think.... I had one left for the headset and that's it.
I don't think you need this at all for PC. One PC all features that do not work on console without optical (EQ Presets, voice/game balance, 120FPS/HDMI 2.1) should work?
Can u record party chat audio on Elgato with this for PS5?
Would this work for Turtlebeach 700? I'm guessing the ps5 would detect the USB dac then I can run the obtical to my usb drive to get back my surround sound?
This works and sounds great, but for some reason my PS5 is resetting my audio settings when coming out of rest mode. It's changing my Mic input device to USB audio device and my Audio Output device to HDMI Device, even with "Switch output device automatically" turned off in the settings. Curious if there's another global setting that's autodetecting and resetting the audio each time.
Just had this happen to me! Go to “audio output” and make sure you click the slider for “switch audio output device automatically” on. Should work 👍🏼
@@cobygalderise9960 I have it turned off, so you're saying leaving it on will keep your settings?

Do you still get the 3D audio with this technique and also is the sound quality better or worse or the same with a hdmi Astro adapter
Bro, Astro probably just wants to sell their product, so they don’t tell us this lol. I have an arctis pro wireless and I will try this method to get back the better quality audio and other features, while still being able to use VRR 4k 120hz.
Exactly. That's my theory too. This works just fine with none of the drawbacks. Perfect solution if you're mostly playing competitive shooters like CoD, and don't need 5.1 sound (which works terribly in these types of games).
Bro did it work on the arctic pro wireless as I have one but haven’t tried it yet
@@BoweFrankema so is it in stereo only using the USB DAC? And will it be true 4k 120hz?
@@perfectcircle0800 you can still use the Dolby Digital button on the A50s. But it will be virtual dolby digital. You can also use the PS5 spacial audio. This is the same as with other PS5 gaming headsets. If you want to use Dolby Digital 5.1 for stuff like movies, it will work but will be converted to stereo. Depending on the games you're playing you have to decide if it's worth it. For Warzone and competitive FPS games stereo is preferred anyways :-)
And yes it's 4K 120hz, since the USB Dac does not affect HDMI 2.1 at all.
So like I’m not trying to be a ass but what’s the point of this, why not just stick to the usb and just ditch the optical
Haha you're not being an ass, it's a good question :-) simply said there are lots issues with using just the USB setup. As you must have noticed the audio quality is bad, most likely because it's taking two signals (voice and game Audio) and routing it into one output. You also can't use the EQ and you lose the ability to adjust the voice/game mix via the buttons on your headset. It quite literally disables all the features that I needed and that make the Astros better than the average headset.
By using this setup you'll restore all these features since you are separating your Audio streams again. USB is used for voice chat, optical (via the USB Dac) is used for game Audio. This gives you much better audio, your EQ presets back and voice/game balance. Most importantly it also works with gaming monitors and HDMI 2.1.
Hope this explains things :-)
Im getting absolutely no sound with the DAC 90% of the time and the other 10% i get the lowest volume sound ever where I might as well have no sound at all
Hey! Did you check out my 2nd video with some more instructions? Maybe there is a setting you misconfigured?
Yes I checked the settings and still nothing man :(
I have to put it to USB headset Astro A50 to hear anything
@@jonz2563 sheesh that's frustrating! But if you have to select the Astro USB then obviously is not working, because it needs to go through your DAC. Can you tell me which DAC you bought? Because a lot of newer DACs do not work. Could you maybe try testing the DAC on your computer? Connect it via USB and see if you can use it there? Maybe you simply have a broken one, and you're doing everything correctly?
Also just to confirm you watched my 2nd video with more detailed instructions?
Held!
I was excited when I saw this video. Then i read deeper, unfortunatly it does not solve my issue. Connecting a PS5 + Asus 4k 120hz Monitor + Logitech 5.1 speakers. USB does not support 5.1. It is only supported by HDMI and Optical. I think I have tried HDMI audio splitters in the past but they didn't seem to work. So frustrating. Currently monitor is connected to the speakers directly through AUX. I don't think AUX supports 5.1 so the speakers are not being used to the fullest.
Correct.. this only works when you're fine playing in stereo which is fine for competitive gamer via headphones. In your case. What you can do is getting a HDMI 2.1 splitter. Did you see this one, it's not too expensive: www.amazon.de/-/nl/gp/product/B0B55TXCLW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1. That does support 5.1
Game music and voice can't be separated. Is it supposed to be like that?
I've been seeing comments that it disables the game/chat mix dial on the A40 mixamp
Can I play 120 FPS and use this
It work the the astros mix amp?????
My question is will the mix amp game and voice chat audio be okay? I have astros A50.
Yes it'll be better than via USB and the same as optical. With the A50s the only limitation is Dolby Digital 5.1 output in movies or very few selected games will be mixed down to virtual Dolby stereo.
So can you play games on the ps5 at 120hz 4k because at the moment I’m only limited to play 1080 120hz with a spitter an goes it work with astros A40
Yep exactly! No need for a splitter anymore with this setup. Read the video description to see how to set it up!
It should work the exact same for A40 :-)
Does this also solve the headphones not charging when the PS5 is in rest mode ?
No sadly not.
That's awesome! Does this work for Astro A40 too?
Yes it'll work the same way!
No it dont
Will this work with Astro a40
Do i put all audio or only chat audio for my a40s
will this allow me to get 1440p resolution with the new ps5 update?
as the astro converter doesnt allow this, only 60hz
Absolutely!
So I have a question I have the same set up as you now if I put custom eq’s on the control center with I have to put the base station on pc mode or ps mode
Sorry I missed your message. But keep the base station in PS mode :-)
Will this work for the new ps5 1440p update? When using the astro HDMI adapter, I wasn't able to run games at 1440p 120hz so I was wondering if I could use this and play Cold War at 1440p 120hz.
with this setup you can connect the HDMI directly from console to monitor. so yes, you can play 1440p 120hz. you don't split the HDMI with this setup. you split the usb to get optical.
@@daviddi7702 it’s not working. There no audio but I can talk wtf man

"When I press the Dolby button I do get the obvious sound change so it tries to apply it, but I believe it applies that effect even when "real" Dolby Digital is not coming in. So it just does some weird ass virtual Dolby stuff.
"
If you order the DAC and test Dolby Digital, let me know if it works :-)
It’s the USA link that u posted. It Says its only ch 2.0, not 5.1. And the UK version says u have to install drivers for 5.1 to work. Idk but I’ll test it. Probably not a huge deal tho cuz most of the time 5.1 sounds bad anyways lol.
@@deagle7776 did you test this?
Does the EQ setting work on Astro A50 for ps4 I’m having problems I can it to work
@@warzone7571 I got an arctis pro wireless so I am not sure.
So when using this DAC on PS5, are the A50s quiet, loud, somewhere in between? Cause I’m hoping this wouldn’t mess with the volume.
Volume is the same as via USB but noticably cleaner, especially when you EQ them via presets the different is huge
@@BoweFrankema I’ve never used these on just USB, but I’m thinking on ordering a USB DAC. Also does it matter which DAC? And THANK you for the reply and this vid!
@@InternetRezhappy to help dude! yeah it definitely matters which DAC, because the PS5 has a super old USB audio standard it uses, which means a lot of DACs don't work at all. Don't ask me why, Sony made some very poor design decisions with the PS5. Use the USB Dac I linked in the description, I gave a US and Europe Amazon Link and they are both confirmed to work perfectly!
@@BoweFrankema Thanks! I will.
thank you
You're welcome!
I have everything plugged in like you said and I can’t get any game audio on my headset now, plz help!!!
Hey! Check out this topic on Reddit, there is a lot more information.. www.reddit.com/r/AstroGaming/comments/uixp8j/astro_a50_ps5_monitor_fix_get_eq_and_hq_audio/. Can you tell me which USB DAC you bought? The exact model?
Have you set set the Audio Output in PS5 properly? If you get no audio at all something is definitely wrong. Even if the optical does not work you should get USB audio to work. So if you get no sound at all you definitely did not connect things correctly.
I bought the US one you linked in the description. Is there any other social I would be able to contact you on?
The steps in link are the same steps I followed in your description. Maybe it’s because I’m plugging everything in first, then turning console on, then going into audio settings on ps5 and changing. Thank you for responding.
@@clooten9279 sure! Search for my name on Facebook (messenger) and send me a message there, then I can help you get this sorted :-)
Just DMd
Can someone link me the device? Or could you show it? I see so many different ones
See the video description :-) There are two recommended ones that work for sure. One for EU and one for US.
Thankyou brother
Just ordered it
is this dac a better solution than the astro hdmi adapter?
In my opinion it is, because this solution does not mess with your video/graphics at all. You can still play your games in 4k 120fps which you can't use the splitter, for a fraction of the price. So yeah I think this is a better solution!
I’m not getting my PlayStation to read the usb dac
Which one did you get? Can you give me a link to the product you bought?
And what port does the optical cable go in in the Astros im assuming the opt-in right
I got the monster digital to analog / analog to digital combo audio converter it didn’t let me put the link
@@kingjj3488 this is not a USB Dac, it's a regular dac. So it won't do anything with the PS5. I see it does have a mini USB but that is purely for power. You should return this one and purchase the one I linked in the video description. That one is guaranteed to work :-)
Does this work on Astro a40 with mix amp? Seen some conflicting messages on here and the Reddit post. I would want all functionality including game/chat balance.
I believe that the problem with the A40s is that indeed the voice/game chat balance does not work at all. Unlike with the A50s. I can't confirm that myself but spoke to one person who tried everything and could not get it to work. Sadly
I’ve just tried with Astro a40 tr +mix amp and can confirm this doesn’t work for game/chat mix. The only way to get it on that particular model is with an HDMI audio splitter. A50s must be unique that the usb dac some how works for everything + the game/chat mix.
What was your solution.... just bought the dac for my A40. Is it a waste?
So does it run 120fps 1440p with the Astro a50s? Like I mean sound and mic use?
Yes it does :-)
@@BoweFrankema it’s not working it just came in. Ain’t no way
@@Unknown_Meliodasseriously what is wrong with you? Why are you leaving so many comments? Once again check out my other video and relax. You are obviously doing something wrong. Tell me the exact settings you've put in and I'm happy to help you. No need to start spamming the comments.
@@Unknown_Meliodas did you get it to work now?
Does this fix the issue of the headset not charging in rest mode? Or is that an issue relating to the base station and PS5 itself?
Yeah that is another unrelated issue that drives me nuts. This product man .. 🤣
@@BoweFrankema There's a solution for that Bowe, there's a USB port in the back of the charging dock, that allows you charge the headset while the PS5 is in rest mode.
Just get an USB cable male both sides and plug it to a usb charger, I hope this helps you as well.
@@digitalcamo_TV I finally got this done now. Perfect solution, thank you!
so u get 120 hrtz with it cuz i have a40s mixamp
Yes you do, but beware with the A40s the game/voice balance does not seem to work.
@@BoweFrankema what about the a50s will game/voice balance work ?
@@every1lovesbret228 reports are mixed on that. It works completely fine for me, but others have had issues. Where it somewhat worked or not at all. I have not been able to figure out why this is. Couple be Firmware etc
Will this work with any 2.1 monitor??
Yes it will!
@@BoweFrankema thanks for the feedback bro! Also just another question but this one may be harder to answer….as I’m starting up content creation/streaming again, I’ll be using an Elgato HD60x which allows for 1440p 120fps pass through, will this be okay connected to the audio dac?
@@SmithySLAYS I personally am trying to run 1440p/120hz via PS5,Astro A40 w/mixamp pro, and using Elgato 4K60 pro. However, I am not getting the audio from these devices to my stream. Not sure how to get this to work right.
Hi... I bought the usb dac from the link you posted...followed your setup but i cant adjust the voice/game chat volume it either removes all audio completely or it just removes voice...could you help me?
Hey Terry! It sounds like you connected everything correctly but you probably need to check your audio output and microphone settings. Just to confirm check the following
- turn the Switch Output Device Automatic off.
- make sure the Audio output is set to USB Audio Device (not the A50)
- Set the microphone input to A50
- Finally check the Voice Chat settings and see if you have the correct settings there. I can't check now but I believe you have the option to have voice chat go only go to the Astro A50 or also through your selected audio output. Experiment with that a bit!
Please let me know if this worked :-)
Hey Terry, I just made a new video going over everything once again. Hope you got it working in the mean time! ua-cam.com/video/ioGH1Nv-5ZU/v-deo.html
@@BoweFrankema Hey Bowe... Im still having the same issue... could you possibly guide me to the voice chat settings?
My Microphone Input device is: USB Headset (Astro A50)
Audio Ouput device is: USB Headphones (USB Audio DAC
Number of Channels is set to 2 (It wont allow me to change that..
Output to headphones : All Audio
Audio Format: Linear (Im not sure what that should be set to)
@@BoweFrankema Upon watching this vid again... i dont see USB Audio DAC as an option under the microphone settings... Could that be the issue?
@@terryallen2500 for the microphone input you will only see the Astro A50 as an option. Since the USB Dac is not an output device. So to be clear.
- Mic = Astro A50 USB
- Sound Output = USB Dac
If you have issues check my 2nd video for some tips and going over the settings again:-)
Do you put output to headphones all audio or voice chat only?
All audio is what I recommend!
@@BoweFrankema I bought a dac but I guess it doesn’t work with ps5 it’s not showing under output. The one in your video isn’t available anywhere.

Not perfect can’t do Dolby audio that’s L
I told that in the description :-) I've never use the Dolby feature ever, so it's not an issue for me. But if you do use it, then this is the not the solution for you.
I don’t think there are any options that will provide Dolby. Only one I found was $130 which is an hdmi splitter
