I am a vinyl dj. Today I used the Rev7 for the first time. Absolutely mind-blowing! Of course there's always room for extras. But using the Rane One and Rane Four I think they absolutely nailed it! OMG I love this controller!
I appreciate your details! I purchased the DDJ 1000 SRT based on your reviews This is definitely a must have if your a scratch DJ using a SRT 1000 . PURCHASED
Dude. Your videos are so helpful. I been in the market for a new mixer since Rane/Serato announced my Sixty Eight would stop working. After watching your meticulous comparison vid I decided to go with the S7 for the time being - while I get back on my practice + spend time learning Rekordbox. Without the effort you had put into succinctly defining the differences I would still be flailing as well as scratching my head with some of the functions - thankfully your vid is a good reference point. This said - I’m surprised there isn’t a more comprehensive set of vids from Pioneer and Serato to help really impart the muscle memory of all the different features tucked away (particularly key functions). There are a few annoyances about the S7 at this time (eg no mute for fx return which I am used to from the Rane 68) however I am finding that quite a few are just because I need to tweak some settings or explore further. Anyway, had to say thanks for the thorough vids - you and Mojaxx vids are consistently on point & invaluable.
It took 6 months to receive mine yesterday!! Bought it the 1ST day they were listed!! Just got it set-up and so far love it!! Gonna play around with it at home for a month or so to get accustomed to the difference between Serato Pro and Traktor Pro. Plus the differences between the controllers. Excited about it!
Thank you for the video, I used spin on Technic 1200’s back in the 80’s and early 90’s back in Chicago, but then I jumped off to pursue playing live music etc. I’m actually getting back in the game and have been looking at controllers and this one caught my eye due to the spinning platter. I really enjoyed the video and what the Ddj-rev7 can do. I’m going to go ahead and get it so I can be ready by May 20th 2022 which will be my first DJ performance since the 1992, mad respect to you and your channel and thank you once again for the review. Blessings and success to you, your family and channel.
Bro! This video just sold me on buying this. Ive been watching so many bad video reviews for this unit. I've been using my NS7 for ages and wanted to upgrade. THANK YOU!
Thanks for making the best videos, they are super helpful. I just got my DDJ-REV7 today, looking forward to using it at my gigs! Time to return the Rane One 😂
Man to see where you started from the first video to now getting products presale to review props! You and Mojaxx are my gotos. Hope you get to keep the unit.
Pioneer finally did the one thing that made them a non-starter for me... spinning platters. Excellent job and nice review, CT! I'm happy that there's another option in the market, but I'm sticking with my Rane One.
@@barrela80 if you are asking me, I’m the worst person to ask… I ended up getting the Rev7. Lol! I still stand by the Rane One. It’s a pretty solid little controller. I have seen a few out there complaining about issues with the Rev7, but mines has been flawless so far.
Bro! As always, great review. I have the SRT1000 and although I love the Magvel fader, I'm not a fan of the "Nexus" style mixer layout. This is the one!!!! Thank you!
I held off on getting the Rane One because there were to many mistakes that went into the build of that controller. I knew someone would make a competing product but I had no idea it would be Pioneer DJ. And they simply hit a home run with this controller. But I never thought they would get into the "motorized platter controller" game. Also the price is really good considering the SZ2 cost about 2 grand a few years ago.
strange thing to me....how can one even get their timing without them spinning...by looking at the screen? I want to get this just to see the platters spin while my music is playing.
"Controller of the Year". . . I like bold predictions! Now where can get my hands on one! Great review and I like your fortune teller reference when you were making your "phase" slipmat for the Rev 7. LOL
I ordered mine and cannot wait for it to get here. Finally a controller that married the best of both worlds digital job with true turntable vinyl feel..on one piece of equipment! thanks for the details on the REV 7!
dope video. the best review on youtube right now. you always give a little more. that felt slip mat design is genius. something I would have definitely done. thanks again.
Awesome review as usually. Very informative. The Rev-7 looks more professional than the Rane one (and I own a Rane One). The Jog Wheels remind me of a modern take on the Technics DZ1200 CD Turntables (with the spinning outer ring) Concerned about sound quality/output and build quality. Damn it...I can't keep buying new gear every time something comes out 😆😂.
Super pumped that you got hands on with this sweet controller haha wait till wifey sees this for her Birthday ❤️👊🏿 Thnx for sharing King Amazing Review 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wowzers! 😲 The Rev-7 looks beautiful and this is a wonderful review full of useful information as always! Bravo and Thank YOU Mr. Cleveland Terry 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I appreciate this review one of the best so far. However, I think you should just run with idea of creating slip mats for the unit. You already have the blueprint!

Great video Cleveland & I agree that this will be the controller of the year. One thing the Rane One can do that this can't is using the Skratch Attach to play real vinyl but this may be an attachment that few may be interested in. I noticed during your video too the DJ City TV logo on your Rev 7 which means Mojaxx probably tried it before you, hehe. Thanks again for the video mate. Cheers
Great video, I can't wait for the comparison video. I've had the ddj-1000 for 5 years and I have been thinking of getting something new. This may be the one!
First I'm glad you reviewed this cause there are some djs who will remain nameless who truly need some work on youtube period. My question is how is the build quality compared to the SX or DDJ series? Is there a lot of plastic vs metal? Also have you ever done a beat juggle video? I ask because the way you explained the visual I have never had it explained to me that way. I think it would be very helpful especially to someone like me to know what to look for as well as listen for. Just thought it was great how you just gave vision to it bro. Keep up the great vids. I'm definitely a fan. D2thaC- St. Louis
My thoughts on the Rev7; Ever since the depletion of shure needles, most DJs/turntablists that run in my circle have adopted phase dj. This has resulted in DJs reverting their turntable setup back to regular rather than battle style so the Rev7 having pitch sliders up top is old hat. The fact that you can't turn the motors off and use the platters to nudge and bend like every other motorized controller is also a deal breaker for me as I'm not a big fan of pitch bend buttons but to each their own I guess....I also don't like that DJs who prefer to use the centre spindle to pitch bend will now have to adopt a different technique than they're already accustomed to. That being said, the features on the Rev7 definitely outweigh those on the Rane One. Two totally different beasts. Awesome review CT!! Keep doing what you do...
Finally Pioneer answered to the Rane One. I so close to buying one. But I’m happy I didn’t, especially now Pioneer coming out with this. As for the price, I think is more than reasonable especially if you look at the Rane One. They’re pretty close together in Price and there’s so much more features on this REV7. Is this it Cleveland Terry or is there anything else Pioneer is coming out? Cause I didn’t know about the REV1 thanks to Mojaxx.

Great presentation on the pioneer controller, would like to see you play on it and use some of the features that would be awesome just my suggestion does the wheels have any speed control, does the controller have any setting off your drops from computer. Does the pitch control have zero.🔉🎤📻🎷🎸🔊
On the platters yes i agree Pionneer felt slipmatts please and i hope they will give us a range of colours for the vinyl doughnuts and stickers.I can see that long use may end up with those things getting broken when the spend time getting hot then cold then hot again so spares would be nice and a choice of colours would be nice.
@@ClevelandTerry True. I suspect we will see a couple more REV models over the next year. My guesses: REV 3, basically a FLX6 but with the REV layout. REV5 something around the DDJ 800. Screens but no moving platters, REV layout.
Hey Cleveland! So I've watched the other videos from the other guys as well and what I noticed is that most are using the pitch bend buttons to nudge the pitch. Can you please do a mix when you do your next video and see if nudging the actual vinyl on the platter works as well as a traditional TT or even the Rane One, as if you were just using a TT. For guys like us who do mobile gigs/clubs (and are open format) where we need to adjust pitch regularly, there's no point in moving platters if the pitch bend button has to be used to make fine adjustments IMO. Isn't the whole idea of the moving platters to emulate a TT as close as possible? I hope that makes sense and you get what I mean about not having to use pitch bend buttons. At least with the other controllers like the SRT, you still have the physical control of nudging by using the side of the platters, which to me is part of the experience. I think the REV 7 is geared towards more Scratch DJs who are used to using a TT and want to transition to a portable solution. (My opinion so far.) Thanks and keep up the excellent work on your content! Rudy.
Kudos to all your reviews. I’ve seen a few reviews regarding the build quality on the platters, do you think that will be an issue? Also hoping to see your rane one comparison soon.
Excellent review CT! Now that Pioneer has entered the “motorized jog-wheel” arena, do you think they’ll build a standalone deck that competes with the Rane 12?
Thank you for posting this I'm glad I found your channel fantastic posts! I also would like to express how badly I want one of these but I'm on a tight tight budget which I'm sure a lot of us can relate to. I'd love to know if Numark and Pioneer and Hercules are ever going to make budget friendly DJ controllers with spinning platters? Or at least with spinning lights that mimic a spinning wheel. I have high hopes that one day they will have a motorized spinning platter controller with all the bells and whistles and lights for under $300 if enough of us yell about it they will listen right? Lol thank you sir
I'm stickin with the RANE ONE. I'm not sold on those jogwheels. The on board effects is cool but I'm not a heavy effect user at all and get by all day with Serato effects perfectly. No dual XLRs on every in/output is wack to me, its 2022.
This thing looks Awesome!!..Love it!!..I have the DDJ1000SRT and I love it as well..but this right here iz DOPE!!!..Great review!!..I gotta see it in person...Guitar Center here I come!!..Peace!
This looks like it can change a lot of mind's in the booth. The pitch faders are visually throwing me off, but I like it. It's nice of Pioneer to wait until after Valentine's Day to drop it.
Great info. -- really like that mod on the platters 👏👏 they seem a little cheapy... Really, really wish it was rekordbox capable being that it's a pioneer product, C'mon pioneer 👍.... also don't have alot cash to buy new gear every year SO, gonna still stick with my ddj1000 for awhile longer. Still HAPPY with it too 😁.. TAKE CARE EVERYONE ‼
NOTE!!! The pitch goes to +50. I was referring to the pitch on instant scratch, not the deck itself.
Good to know. Thanks man.

Oh man, I wish i thought of what you did and said "DDJ-REV7 from Pioneer DJ" instead of trying to say Pioneer DJ DDJ-REV7 in my vids. Such a mouthful.
Ha. I never of even thought of that.
Amazing review man! You touched on everything I was hoping for and more!
This looks like it can change a lot of mind's in the booth. The pitch faders are visually throwing me off, but I like it. It's nice of Pioneer to wait until after Valentine's Day to drop it.
Valentine’s Day has got to be the reason for the delay. 😂
Another great review by you bro! Have you tested the sound by connecting it to a sound system yet?
I’m excited.
great review!
