@@axeljonsson151 I understand that, but the work environment for the driver is important as well. Can't expect someone to sit in the cold for 8 hours a day.
Here in Gothenburg, Sweden we have a couple lines with this bus. It's a little shorter with three doors and less screns. We also have up to 100% electric in the city but the rest of the lines are either volvo buses or trams. The only scenarios where there are diesel buses are the lines that travel a long way between cities or if we run out of electric buses (Malfunctioning, many of them have problems with the doors not closing or opening). Great video!
Hi 👋 Magne & Tom Nice MAN bus .. I like you to revist these Buses one year from now & see how they are getting along.. Other transit properties Will be watching there progress 😬 to see how they fair in the day to day.. Thankyou Tom & Magne 🚎
I love the MAN Lion's City 18E! We got currently 2 arpund but they might move to another depot due to the 2 low bridges in the city so i kinda disappointed that they cant be used in this region but the new VDL LF-122 (maybe LF-181) Will take place and so will the new Iveco Electric 18m (Iveco Heuliez)
Finally someone said it is a bad idea to have 13c in the busses. Who wants to take the bus then? I also think it goes the other way in the summer when they are not running the A/C
I love these busses, but why did they enter service with all 76 at the same time, instead of staggering them, it seems like if you have unforeseen problems they would affect the whole fleet.
Nice bus! But only the articulated version of the MAN electric buses of the new generation is more cute than other versions. Because the other versions of these generation are hot.
In Stavanger electric busses from Volvo use diesel powered webasto to keep the heat up. They are supposed to use heating rods but that consumes battery, thus shorter range. But Oslo`s stupid politicians have phobia against diesel so i`m not surprised these new MAN busses have no webasto to keep the heat up.
Drivers tend to leave the retarder/regen lever in wrong position. That's why city busses don't usually have the lever. Retarding/regeneration still does happen, by using the brake pedal or lifting the accelerator
I still prefer the physical handle and that is exactly what we are talking about. I don't want it on the pedal, because most of the time you can have a longer range on an electric bus if it can roll out. The rest is about training, learning the driver to drive correctly.
Looks sharp. I still don’t trust EV’s Granted in this application it may work just fine. Snow and road salt doesn’t play well with complex electronics and electrical components. Still very interesting and informative.
Because of MAN's advanced technology, the owner of those red buses and people of Oslo feel better to be kind to Earth. Until they are launched, Norwegian vehicle users had to use petrol/diesel fuel for use.
Thanks for the great video. It made my day a little better. Man Lion's City E is a truly magnificent vehicle. If I go to Oslo one day, I would definitely like to ride it. Man Lion's City CNG EfficentHybrid model is used in Konya Turkey and everyone likes it very much. I hope one day the electric version will also be purchased. If you come to Turkey, I will wait a day. I disagree with you: 13 degrees is enough. As a passenger you have your outdoor clothing on. The big problem with electric city busses is that all heat disappears through the doors at every stop. Most electric busses maintain their heat with an extra diesel heater which has no cleaning what so ever of the exhausts. The result is an electric bus that is worse to the local environment than the diesel or biogas bus it replaced.
Det har de også gjort. Det er vel rundt 18 grader på bussene nå, tror jeg. Bærer riktignok ikke termostat, men litt kjøligere enn innetemperatur, men godt over 13 grader.
13 degrees is totally unacceptable... MAN just is to late with there electric buses. Just look at Solaris oder Ebusco, they can reach longer distances without 13 degrees... Such a shame...
Very good review again! However 13°c Inside temperature is unacceptable. I think the company will receive many complaints about that and rightly so 😂.
It’s really cold on board. Can’t wait for summer. Then it’s probably too hot 😂😂
It's one of the ways they are trying to save up enough electric range
@@axeljonsson151 I understand that, but the work environment for the driver is important as well. Can't expect someone to sit in the cold for 8 hours a day.
@@UliioThe temperature inside the cab can get really hot if the driver wants it, however the passenger section will often be cold.
Ah that's good. I thought the compartment for the driver was also colder :).@@MainCamp_Norway
Great video of a great bus!

Not a bad idea! Thanks for a great feedback
I love❤ this bus very much!!! Waiting for Lions intercity LE 14 review.
Thanks a lot! The 14LE would have been very interesting to test 😁

Really horrible with that temperature
The box Tom is complaining about contains one of the electric motors. They are not out in the wheel hubs.
Good to know!
Yes, I know that now. When we did the video I was convinced that it was the 2xZF engine in-hub axel. But got new information after. My mistake.
An excellent bus. 18 meters arti driving 2 axles must be hard on the power supply in the dark during the winter months.
It’s a really great vehicle! (When infrastructure is working and can provide power to the buses)
That is a surprise - didn't know the 18e is driven by the two rear axles.
MAN makes those vehicles! Just brilliant 😁
@@bussmagasinet1 you guys saw the right hand drive unit for #electrifyingSG on social media? It's our turn 😁
@@chuayx7572nice 😁😁😁
13 degrees is stupid. For example you could have webasto diesel heater, 0,3 liters of HVO100 per hour. Totally carbon neutral.
Yep! But, this destroys the earth! (At least, what Norwegian politicians believe 😂😂😂)
Great video, love the channel! Would love to see you review the Hess buses from Switzerland.
Would absolutely LOVE to make a Hess video!
I love these busses, but why did they enter service with all 76 at the same time, instead of staggering them, it seems like if you have unforeseen problems they would affect the whole fleet.
That’s the tender system… All buses starts at the same time. Not good for anyone. But, that’s how it is…
How about the articulation mechanism. I dislike if it makes a lot creak and squeaking. Was it silent enough?
Completely silent in the MAN I've driven elsewhere.
Very quiet

True! Why let people that know buses make the bus orders. No. Make politicians make that order… hahaha
Drivers tend to leave the retarder/regen lever in wrong position. That's why city busses don't usually have the lever. Retarding/regeneration still does happen, by using the brake pedal or lifting the accelerator
MAN has an electronic retarder lever, it goes automatically to 0 when the gas is pushed. It doesn't have physical notches like ex. Scania
I still prefer the physical handle and that is exactly what we are talking about. I don't want it on the pedal, because most of the time you can have a longer range on an electric bus if it can roll out. The rest is about training, learning the driver to drive correctly.
@@axeljonsson151Hopefully to A, not 0.
Very true! And, this is also the case for this bus. But, no retarder from the lever
@@JaakkoIsWatching If you mean "A" as in automatic retarder with the brake pedal, then yes
Does this bus really have electric ramps? Because they just look like normal ramps😅
Just normal ramps. Easy, and cheap.

This is not MAN's decision. This is Ruter, the PTA in Oslo
Electric motor, not engine.
