- Harcourt Park Disc Golf Course is located at 41°06'06.81" S 175°05'34.13" E - about 35 minutes drive north of NZ's Capital, Wellington.....(more below)
Set in a Wonderful park, this course was designed and installed by Canadian Mark Dakiv, (Thanks Mark!) using early NZ-made baskets - 9 of them, with 18 tees. It offers challenges for all abilities, except those able to drive over 120 metres, as the longest hole is 114 metres from an elevated tee.
With beautiful trees, amazing variety of native bird life, and well manicured lawns, the course is easy to access, easy to get around, but not that easy to score well on!
The Safari Holes here are NOT standard holes on the course, and are set without any players knowing ahead of time what they are.
This year, the Faultline Fury was presented by the stalwart Disc Golfers "Family Sullivan" lead by Shane, who did a great job as TD. Even though the weather was awful, with positively torrential rain on Saturday morning, I still had a great time, despite shooting at least 4 over par ever round, after shooting 4-under in practice.
True to form, we actually had a major earthquake during the tournament, with a 6.2 striking Cook Straight. I didn't feel it, as 30,000+ quakes have left their mark on me.
It was very good to play three rounds with Gemma (thanks Gemma!), and enjoy the playing skills of Des Cooper, local man Alex Britton, Jackson Sullivan, Lawton Jackson, and David Keene.
I won't miss next year's event! And neither should you!
I filmed a course Tour video with DK the day before the comp, and am having trouble recovering some corrupted footage from a portable hard drive, but I expect to have the full course tour video up with a week.
