I’m a 37 yr old woman no husband or kids. I’m not against marriage or children but I’m not desperate for it either. My ultimate goal in life is to be happy regardless if I had husband or kids. I’m not going to run out get married and have kids due to the pressures of society

On the matter of marriage. I need ALL married Christians to stay out of single Christian’s business. We are not all out here sleeping around, being touchy and pushing the boundaries. The only time sex cross my mind is when married people bring it up with me. Married people idolize marriage and sex. I just went to a Bible Study with Christian women who were appalled that I’m choosing singleness to focus on serving God. I just want to work, vacation, and serve God. They spent 30 minutes asking why can’t God get the glory out of me marrying someone simply because they want to marry me? I never said he won’t, I just said for me marriage is a hindrance. The attention will be on my husband and not God and that doesn’t feel right for me. I get questioned all of the time, don’t you feel lonely, you have cravings, or did you lose faith that God can send you someone? No, no, and no. I love my freedom to serve God, I love freedom to worship, and I love the flexibility to serve when and wherever. Dating and relationships has only served as a distraction from serving. I’ve seen and know married couples who serve church together but that does not appeal to me.
By the way I stopped listening to and supporting Kirk Franklin years ago. He strayed from the faith a long time ago.
Let's be real. You are an outlier. There is much more pressure on you as a single person to fall in debauchery than a married person. At least they have a outlet for their desires. So we are focusing on femininity, self-care, and traveling. I just got back from a trip with single women I met in a facebook group where talked about this topic for hours. Various community groups exist nationally and internationally because the church underserves us and spends all of their time rebuking us, so we disciple each other and encourage each other since the church throw stones based on assumptions and the one relative or friend THEY know. I’m sure divorce rates in the church would decrease if they focus on discipling us and cultivating/repairing marriage.

I agree with Kirk. The church has placed an emphasis on marriage when not everyone has been called to it. As a result of this, black women who are largely unmarried based on statistics are often looked down upon or pushed to the side due to them not fulfilling the step of being married.
Married is for the people that are called to it & for the people who cannot practice sexual self-control; however, the church has made it into ‘an extra step needed in order to be close with God’.
In 1 Corinthians 7, Paul says “it’s good for a man “not to touch a woman” (referring to celibacy by way of singleness).
BUT- he also said “nevertheless, to avoid sexual sin, let every man have his own WIFE” and vice versa.

Insert all people who are going to say its her duty to "act" like a wife first, or she could say no...of course. I talked to an Ethiopian girl for awhile and she told me that they have a shaming culture because they see how we act here in the U.S. women are shamed if they are not married by 25-27 after they are called out. And I think it should be that way because women really don’t need to be single for that long because kids happen outside of we’d lock and and baggage it’s not meant for them. For some I will ask this question first: Do most of you have a problem with what was said, or is that you have a problem with the fact that Kirk Franklin said it?
I also watched this clip along with the entire almost 3 hour interview and there a lot that is discussed in that video.
Now to this clip. I actually AGREE with Kirk Franklin in the context of marriage being weaponized. I know that some think I am lying and that does not happen in their church or that their pastor has never said such a statement, but I'm speaking from my experience, and I have PERSONALLY experienced this myself to the point that several members of a church have tried setting me up with other members. I have seen situations where a church tried to remove a pastor his divorce, and another where one minister was not elected to be pastor of a church because "his wife was not called to preach". I have also been told by members of a church that "BECASUE I SERVE IN THE MILITARY, I AM GOING TO HELL"
This clip as well as the entire interview triggered a lot of experiences that I have had (GOOD and BAD) growing up in the church

I find it curious that Anton Daniels is pro-marriage in this clip when, recently, he stated on a panel discussion that "marriage is a business deal." A business deal?!? That is the opposite of the holy union Kirk Franklin acknowledges here. Kirk Franklin recognizes that today's Black women do not have marriage options due to red-pilled thinking, as Anton Daniels typically espouses.

He said that marriage does not fix sin. As it relates to sexuality for those who honor their marriage vows, marriage does fix the sin of fornication as sex between two married couple has the blessings of God. Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled, but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. We have the gift of choice, but God has given us an godly option as it relates to fornication.

Everyone isn’t called for marriage. I’ve been celibate for 3 years now, and the only thing I’m worried about is presenting my body as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable unto God. Yes, I desire marriage, but in the mean time, I’ll wait on the Lord. We need to be teaching on salvation and stop worrying about who’s single and who’s married. Jesus said all fornicators and adulterers will have their part in the lake of fire. We need to repent for the kingdom God is at hand.
