I've been in therapy for 6 years because of my mother and her flying monkeys trying to break me. I haven't spoke to my mother since 2020 when I caught her messing over my money amongst other violations and atrocities. I don't really care if I ever again. Thats trifling. I agree with you about this issue. I had a recent convo with my mother about how she was treating me as a husband opossed to a son. She apologized but Ive dealt with the emotional burden as "man of the house". I told her its why I dont like being relied upon on in relationships today. Prayers to you as I need further therapy myself.
My mom tried but luckily my grandfather intervened and raised me himself I thank him everyday for saving me from this and loving me the right way I miss him dearly

I asked my mother when I was younger should I drive trucks, go to the military, or go to college? She told me that I shouldn't do any of the above. Her idea of success for me was to try and get disability from the government. So I would never leave home. Ijs

@@newyork6784 My dad was in the military, and I worked at the BX for most of my highschool years. So I knew a lot of active duty and have a lot of respect for military and rank. I regret not going. In a crash dummy situation of course I'll go-to jail or hail for mom's. 😃 But now that I'm a more seasoned man I totally agree that mothers sabotage their sons to keep them home. I've never gotten advice from my mother to better my career.

He owned legitimate business and instilled in me that we are entrepreneurs. He showed me that our business can produce all the fancy things that I admired about the drug dealers. By the time I was 21 we had 2 locations. I ran one and he ran the other.
I’ll never forget back when I was 20 years old, my Grandfather - God Rest His Soul - Had no respect for my biological father for leaving my Mom with 5 kids when I was 2 years old at the time. He said to me that he never wants to see my father’s face because a “A real man raises his kids”. When he was a young man back in the 40’s, A black American men wanted the opportunity to have a job to take care of their families. They didn’t want handouts. Back then, black men had pride, and it was very shameful not providing for your family. Period.

I have to admit. This hit me hard. As an ex son-husband, I agree with everything that you've said 1000%!
My husband and I have rentals and a few years ago we had an applicant with a young daughter and young son. She'd been homeless with her children and one of the programs available was going to pay 6 months of her rent. I asked how did she plan on paying rent after those 6 months. She said her son said that he would work and help as much as he could. It saddened me that this little boy was going to take on that burden. And it made me angry that as a mother she would even expect/allow that from him. I could related because I remember growing up with my single mom and always feeling so bad about her struggling. I always said that when I grew up I wanted to take care of her. Well, I snapped out of that and realized that's her problem to deal with. I'm not killing myself to take care of any adult that made poor choices their entire life.
