True because if you look at team rocket in red/blue, and Fire Red and Leaf Green I believe that the games just made them over glorified poachers if anything else. So having Giovanni try to rule the world with Mewtwo gives more of an identity to the story.

My favorite thing about this is that he captured what so many of us saw in our imaginations as we played through these games as kids. Pokémon Red and Blue hit the US when I was 10 years old meaning I fit the target demographic to an absolute T. Sure, there's a ton of stuff in this that never happens in the games but the expansion on our childhood imagination is part of why I love this so much. I won't talk about everything or else this will become a massive wall of text but I'm happy you realized that Blue was unhappy with reaching champion because it meant he would rarely get to battle anymore - gym leader life suits him so much better. Also, Green/Leaf/Manga Blue MVP, seriously she was the most fun character through all of this.
I just realized this now, in the Sabrina fight, it was shown that Sabrina and then Red can see what the other sends out next. This might be a reference to the two battle styles that Pokemon has; switch and set mode. Switch mode lets you switch Pokemon after you K.O. your opponent's Pokemon whereas set style doesn't let you switch out. Sabrina was playing in switch mode while Red was playing in set mode before switching to switch mode. Nice subtle reference. (Or I may be wrong.) Edit: Thanks so much for the likes!

In game Sabrina says "Psychic power isn't something that only a few people have. Everyone has psychic power. People just don't realize it.". They just need a catalyst to help them realize their potential. I'm not too sure how Blue awakened his powers too, but then again I haven't watched Pedro's Blue Story either which I'm sure puts some clarification on how he awakens his psychic ability. Anyways, when Red was mind controlled by Mewtwo that awakened the ability inside of him, and the final catalyst was green being in danger from the Voltorb explosion. It's safe to presume Switch and Set Mode is the weakest power of psychic capability, since neither Red or Blue show they are capable of any other powers, and we know Sabrina is just an extremely gifted psychic. And thats the story of switch and set mode. TLDR, Switch and Set mode is a psychic power that Red awakened to after being mind controlled by Mewtwo, and seeing Green's life in danger. I'm unclear on how Blue obtained his psychic power but there is the Blue Story also made by Pedro that might shed some light.

Little Trivia about Red... In the Manga his Eevee (named Vee) is able to evolve into all three forms freely at at will, iirc. Because said Eevee was experimented on by Team Rocket, modifying its dna And at the End of the first Gen Manga, it evolves into Espeon out of pure love for its trainer. Losing the ability to transform into Jolteon, Vaporeon and Flareon at will Which, if I also remember correctly, the free at will evolution and back put a huge strain on its body. Only putting up with that because it genuinly loves Red and is gratefull towards him, wanting to help him where it can Which remembers me that the manga are actually pretty dope and sometimes quite deep and heavy with the story
