1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (Bible Verses) (How to be saved)
15 Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance[a]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
    Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

It's because exactly what he said, Jesus commands us to love our enemies enough to share with them the gospel. But because He is a just God and like a court of law, you and I have sinned (or broke the law) and someone must be accountable for that. The question lies whether you are willing to take on His holy and righteous judgment, or let Jesus take your place.

The Bible also says: No one can see Me and live.
God will be in Heaven. If we want to be with Him, we need to be cleansed.
God being in Heaven and sinners being in Heaven, is not an option.
People almost always only talk about why going to hell is needed or just. But they forget that there cannot even be a place where there is no pain and sickness, when even just one person enters with a sinfull and broken heart.
Before you know it, we are back to how life is on earth.
The existence of hell does not only provide for a punishment, but it is a way to protect His children.

Are the wages of sin eternal torment or death? Did Jesus suffer eternal torment for us or death? Do those that believe in God escape perishing (John 3:16) or escape eternal torment? Was the penalty for rebellion against God in the garden eternal torment or death? Does Matt 10:28 say to fear Him who can torment both body and soul in hell, or fear Him who can DESTROY both body and soul in hell? You can't eternally destroy something but never actually destroy it (like you stated in the video).
I used to believe ECT like you, but the common theme of the gospel throughout the entirety of the Bible is that sin's final penalty is destruction/perishing/death, but God awards immortality with Him for those that believe that Christ DIED for them.
Also, in regards to your use of Rev 14, please cross reference that passage with Isa 34:9-10, and ask yourself if the smoke from Edom's destruction is still literally rising eternally. Also, even if you do take it literally, Rev 14 says the smoke rises forever, not that they are tormented forever.
Finally, you can't have varying degrees of punishment if hell is eternal. A pain level of 10 x Infinity is infinite pain. A pain level of 1 x Infinity is still infinite pain. The degree of punishment can only change if there is a final limit to the torture, hence a second death. Even Jesus Himself used the analogy of a beating of many stripes vs few stripes, both of which have an end.
I understand your desire not to make atheists feel they have an escape, but to reach judgment day and see some awarded eternal life in a perfect creation while you get sentenced to torment then death is no escape. Life is the most valuable thing God can take from a human, which is why He commanded the death penalty for murderers, not life in prison. There may be those people who won't turn to a God who gives them the option of death, but there's also those people who won't turn to a God who would torment people eternally.

    what about Matthew 10:28
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
The definition of destruction is : the action or process of causing so much damage to something that it no longer exists or cannot be repaired.
also the bible often describe DEATH to be similar to being asleep.
That is why im always torn about hell, it seems to me the annihilationism is right at least according to these verses, what do you think about it ?

    • @woodkey1
      @woodkey1 5 місяців тому +2

Destroy body and soul doesnt mean to kill or annihilation but in this verse means the act of destroying the body and soul but not dead. Its like receiving torture during the roman reign. For example crucifixion is one of the worst ways to die. It crushes the body and soul so bad that you wanted your life to end but you cannot do anything else but to wait for death it feels like eternity. But it also says in the bible that the punishment is eternal. So it means you feel the pain of the process of destroying but you will still exist in hell thats the scariest part. Its says no rest day or night the punishment will continue eternally.

If you're being tormented for eternity in hell that means you have eternal life. Dead people are not tormented. But the Bible says that eternal life is conditional and that the only way we get it is to be in Christ by faith. Jesus says in Matthew 10:28 that we should fear the one who can destroy both body and soul in hell. If our soul is destroyed how will we be alive? If our soul will never be destroyed why would Jesus warn us about that? Edit: I posted this comment before the video addresses my questions but in the end I still respectfully disagree with the conclusions of the video. Thankfully our views on hell are not required to be correct for our salvation to be assured. Thanks for the great content. Especially on sharing the gospel with questions.

The original text in greek of Matthew 10:28 uses the word "ἀποκτεῖναι" for destroy, which means "to kill, to make perish". Therefore, Jesus isn't refering to hell as place where he will annihilate unbelievers's souls for once, but make them suffer while their souls perish forever.
"If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out. And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell"

Hell and Heaven in Christianity and Buddhism are quite different. The main difference is that in Buddhism, the time you spend in Hell or Heaven is not eternal. In Buddhism, people stay in these realms for a duration that corresponds to the level of good or bad deeds they committed in their past lives. They then continue in an endless cycle, experiencing the consequences of their various actions. This contrasts with Christianity, where Heaven and Hell are eternal states.

I'm scared to death sometimes that I might go to hell. It's not that I don't believe in Jesus. It's rather.. did I really repent? I'm pretty sure I'm a covert narcissist (I've got all the traits), which means I'm proud every time I do something right, but still need confirmation and approval, I can't take any kind of criticism and I lack any self-worth. I want to get off my throne, but it's like I don't want it bad enough. I've prayed at least a hundred times in the last few months, but... a miracle needs to happen. My whole identity is a mess. And it's not even like I hardened my heart. I've never had a conscience (I remember really bad sins when I was 8 or 9) and I've never had remorse over a sin. My heart is messed up. I often think: YES, the sins that I've commited were my own choices. But was it ever my choice to become a narcissist? Am I really to blame for becoming a person with this disorder, just because I may have neglected my conscience once when I was maybe 6 or 7? Or am I to blame simply because I was born with wrong genes?

It's great that you are so concerned about this that you are writing about it! To me, it looks like you are desiring the Lord, but are still working on getting to a point where you *feel* repentant. I want to share with you. I NEVER EVER, before I became a Christian was repentant or had any desire to be repentant for a sin that I was committing over and over again. I didn't even feel guilty at all.
After I a became a Christian, and still to this day (I thankfully was saved 2 years ago), Istruggle with this sin. I struggle to *FEEL* repentant for this sin. I know I WANT to be repentant, and my brain knows it's a sin, but I don't always "feel" it. Here's the good thing about that. After working very hard with people around me (Christian counselor, small group with only 4 others), and working on learning how to be emotionally intelligent by being open and vulnerable, God has been transforming my personality and heart. I still struggle with feeling repentant about this sin, but I am starting to feel it more and more. Which is not enough for me. I just want to HATE it. However, I can see that it is being transformed. I went through a major life situation that brought me to this point, but I'm so grateful for it.
So what I recommend is find a Christian counselor (because we all have stuff we don't even realize we have locked away), get a good, small group of men or women (stick with men if you're a man, women if you are a woman) and dig into God's word and prayer with others. You will not be able to overcome this alone. You can even do a small online group. God will guide you.
You are moving in the right direction!! Great job. Keep praying. He hears you, even if you don't feel like it. Satan has cut us back so much on our emotions and likes to numb us out. It will get better!!
      Get that community!!

There's two questions that I can't seem to find an answer for him to try to bring him back. First: God's laws for slaves as seen in the Old Testament in Exodus, Leviticus, and Deuteronomy. His first question is: How can God be good, yet still allow His people to own slaves? His reasoning is that if He was all good, He would have made the laws be "No slaves at all."
The second question my friend has is, which is relevant to this video: How can God justify throwing people to Hell for all eternity for seemingly small things like, say, stealing a candy bar from a store or telling a little white lie here and there? In his eyes, there'd no difference to how he'll be treated in Hell for stealing that candy bar compared to, say, H*tler.
If you could help me answer these questions, I'd be grateful. Thanks.

Getting burned for even 30 minutes isn’t “not too bad”. I don’t know that many people could throw and watch even the worst of men in fire and be burned for a day. Is there any example of God punishing anyone in The Bible for a long period of time? The worst I believe were the plagues and God took the punishment away when they agreed. When David was asked who would he want his punishment to be in the hands of, his enemies, his own nation, or God. The first time I read it, I said, of course not God. God is the most powerful and scary, and that he is, but David chose God and said “Let us fall into the hand of the Lord, for his mercy is great; but let me not fall into the hand of man.” I don’t believe man is more merciful than God, even to a sinner who deserves it. I trust in his judgement and punishment, but I disagree when people think they would be more merciful than God and administer a more merciful punishment, our wicked hearts underneath enjoy seeing others in pain and punishing them. If you don’t think you would be capable of going through with punishing your worst enemy this way, what makes you think you’re more merciful than God?

Rev 14, Probably fire and brimstone is assumed to be the lake of fire, the second death. Then the Lamb and angels must be in the lake of fire, the second death, so to be present before all who have received the mark. Verse 11: _"And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”_ In the passage, worshiping is a present active participle, as is receiving the mark. So in hell are people actively receiving the mark and worshiping the beast? An earthly setting at the conclusion of this age would seem more likely. Whether you believe the Rev 20 millennium either begins or concludes at the advent makes no difference. No one is cast into the lake of fire at this time, prior to the millennial judgement's conclusion, which is at least at the coming of the Lord and more probably 1,000 years after His coming. So where are those souls now; purgatory? Who else is in the lake of fire? The false prophet and death. Is death, a condition rather than a soul, being tormented? So also the false prophet is a system of things rather than a living soul. Is it too being tormented?
The bible never speaks of a lifeless soul? What about Rev 20:4, the souls of the martyrs who lived, or came to life? You can not come to life if you already live, if you have the eternal life Satan spoke of in the garden. _"And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."_ What does destroy mean? The end of existence!
What are the implications of this verse (Rev 14:10) with respect to eternal security? BTW I admire your work here.
    God Bless!

They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people."

@@JamesHartley-Shaw Empathy is being able to emotionally relate to someone else’s circumstance. Psychopathy is literally having no remorse or compassion for anything for anyone or anything you do(which is something that’s developed over time). No one is born with psychopathy. It’s a result of your upbringing and environmental factors.
You can be born lacking emotional responses due to the way your brain functions but that has nothing to doing with knowing right from wrong, which has to do with your conscience telling “hey this is wrong”. Everyone has this basic function, even psychopaths.
      There i did better 🙂
Anyway, I’m not trying to 1-up or argue, God made Himself known through all creation and some people ignore this when its revealed to them because its easier for them to not want to accept accountability for the wrong they do against a sovereign authority. It gives people an excuse to do what they want and get away with it.

Once saved, always saved is not a guarantee. Salvation requires living each day with Jesus, avoiding sin, and nourishing the spirit with God’s word. (Ephesians 4:22-24; Colossians 3:5-10)
Maintaining a relationship with God involves obedience to His Word and full trust in Him. (John 15:4; James 1:22)
Choosing a sinful life after accepting Christ can lead to judgment rather than salvation. (Hebrews 10:26-27; 2 Peter 2:20-22). Jesus’ sacrifice covers past, present, and future sins, but only with genuine repentance and a commitment to not return to the old life. (Acts 3:19; 1 John 1:9). Baptism symbolizes the death of the old sinful self and the birth of a new life striving to emulate Jesus. (Romans 6:4; 2 Corinthians 5:17)
