Hmmm.. I've been a Brian Wilson / Beach Boys fan for years, but this new song is a bit...simple? A sort of a bossa-nova thing with four chords (really just two) which never changes all the way through. In a way, it mirrors another song we've heard from the new album, 'Guess You Had To Be There', which is the same four chords in the verse and the chorus (and in fact the verse and chorus have essentially the same melody as well). Not that I prefer complicated songs, but there doesn't seem to be much substance.

One of my least favorite songs on the new album, but even so, it's wonderful for what it is. Weak point on the release is that many of the songs have a more conventional song structure than many of Brian's greatest songs, but the melodies are top notch, the vocals and production are always pleasing, and in terms of overall listenability, this might be Brian's strongest solo album to date (discounting SMILE). Even the lesser songs have something to recommend them, and there are a whole lot of superb tunes. This CD will be spinning All Summer Long, that's for sure!
RockME AllDeus You know, it's still one of my least favorite songs on the album, but I love 11 of the songs on the album, and even the three I'm not crazy about are still enjoyable and I never skip over them. I would have loved a bridge and maybe a BW vocal tag at the end to add a little variety to the mix. Or some kind of twist that only Brian could have conceived of. Then it would be a winner all the way!

The Part in the song, where he says "Wasting our time," at around 38 seconds into the song I instinctively starting doing the "oooohhh" from Little Saint Nick which comes in at 37 seconds into that song! lol (Surprisingly close in regards to time). Try it and it fits perfectly! Not to mention the chord progressions are very similar too! Anyways, glad I'm not the only one! Cheers!
