Before going to uni ,actually I couldn't even do a speech in front of a crowd.That's much I was unable to speak in English... But with the time, I personally met my english instructors and asked how to improve my spoken english ability... Then I used to go through thier advices and tried to speak alone in front of a mirror... Each and every day I didn't forget to practice eventhouth there were lots of grammatical mistakes.. But I didn't care and read lots of english news papers, watched english movies ,listened to english songs etc. Trust me! really I could be able to improve my knowledge of english. I know still I am not fluent in English....But now I am very proud of my self because I could stand up alone for fighting with english language... Now I have the capable of handling even interviews at my university... Eventually I would like to advise all don't give up your efforts whatever situation you face....Definitely you will get the final outcome successfully even if it's not perfect..... 😍😍😍

And I was proud about myself that i could make a good speech infront of a crowd fearleslly. At that time i was studying english literature. Then I stopped learning & using english in day to day life, because i changed my school for my ALs and I selected Sinhala medium. and There was no english environment around me. I didn't use English for 3 years. Then now i have no confidence to speaking in english and now i make lots of mistakes even when i m writing. 😓
I also speak alone. Trust me it really works!! Of course I know I'm not still fluent in English but I work hard to make it fluent. And also I read some books, magazines and some paragraphs from Google daily. It helps me to improve my reading ability. Cannot agree with you anymore darling. I am coming from a place where there was no English background. One more tip I got from my English teacher was to read the editorial and going through the dictionary and find the meaning of difficult words and keep using those. I remember writing down lyrics of those famous songs to get my tongue used to it. Reading out news papers loud. And spot on mentioning about mind practicing too. Coz as I think, that's where we go wrong. Coz we practice English but in reality we have to think in English too. When you think in sinhala and trying to translate into English, brain takes time to process it... I believe that's what u meant too... Great job Jay..... Very well done...

And spot on mentioning about mind practicing too. Coz as I think, that's where we go wrong. Coz we practice English but in reality we have to think in English too. When you think in sinhala and trying to translate into English, brain takes time to process it... I believe that's what u meant too... Great job Jay..... Very well done...
