- Today, we take a look at Alton Towers, and how Nemesis Sub Terra is doomed to fail, again! Nemesis Sub Terra is a drop tower style ride that complements Nemesis, Alton Tower's most iconic coaster. It originally opened in the Forbidden Valley area of the park in 2012 and closed in 2015, but is back open in 2023 ahead of the Nemesis retrack that will reopen in 2024. But will it survive this time?
Watch the video to get our thoughts on Alton Tower Resort's latest ride and the challenges it may face going forward. Have you ridden Nemesis Sub Terra before? What are your thoughts on it? Be sure to let us know in the comments below, we'd love to hear what you have to say!

Have you been on Nemesis Sub-Terra in 2023?
no.
Just been on today, as a fan of nemesis, I liked it. I hope it stays because it adds to the lore and theme of the main ride. It was cool and had some nice unexpected elements
I love it. It makes the area feel more alive and fills a hole in the 'Alien Encounter knock off' genre now that Stitch's Great Escape and Hasler Encounter have closed.
Honestly, I want it to stick around; I'm a haunt fan and I love these sort of highly themed experiences. But if you're just looking at the thrill angle like I think a lot of AT goers do, then it probably falls flat. I feel like it could be really good, but probably needs some editing that it's unlikely to get.
I don’t hate the theme I think if this was a bigger drop ride and the top and bottom stayed the same it would be really good - however that would involve a lot of work on Merlin’s part because it’s a bit of a gimmick at the moment like alien encounter that moves - when it pitched itself a bit more like a tower of terror. It’s deffo there for promotional reasons and I can imagine the space getting used for something else, but I do think the eggs being housed somewhere as a walk over to thing in place of some arcade games would be nice in terms of theming.
I think it’s a great ride - I love it
Coming from a fan of Alton Towers, I actually really like it. I love the theme and i do find it thrilling with the anticipation of the drop even after the first time i went on it and I don’t get scared easily. So I would like it to stay, its a fun thing to do to fill time.
I cried before I even got on the nemesis sun terror and I saw many kids coming out crying and one literally fainting
Coming back in a year to say if it failed or not
there’s no point… it definitely won’t close in a year; nemesis is reopening. the attention will definitely be on that area of the park, so i cannot see nemesis sub terra closing next year at all
It's a good experience
The way the ride is running now I doubt it will last another 3-4 years! It lands hard with a “thud” whichever tower you sit in, and struggles to sync regularly with the fx on the climb back up. A shame, because the staff have really grown into their roles and it isn’t so terrible on first experience. But that landing!!!
Umm what??? When I went on the landing was actually extra soft
I don’t even think it’ll last a few years. I reckon it’ll stay for the rest of this season and next season as well and then that will be it. I feel it will be a bit like the welcoming scare maze they had in 2017 and 18 to promote SW8/Wicker Man before that left
No chance they spend all the money to reopen this just to have it close in a few years again. It stays open
I went on this bk in 2012...shocking...like pointless
