@r2l100 I am not trying to be negative, but it is super inconvenient not to have AR coating in 2022. As much as I love the flutted DJ, often I have to twist it so I can read the time. I am even thinking to sell it for this reason, I honestly don’t think it is worth the money.
@r2l100 only two watches have AR, which is laughable for a “luxury” brand which is charging so much money for a watch. As for other watches, I do own Bretlings and Omegas and they are so superior in this regard. You twist and move them in light to see the color hue, which looks fantastic.
@r2l100 The older Omegas did not have AR on top as well, so there is nothing to be scratched. The new ones have AR on both top and bottom, which in my opinion, is the best implementation I've seen so far as it cuts the reflections a lot more. Breitling only uses AR on the underside of the crystal. It is really good, perhaps the best in the industry for only one layer of AR. Now, as far as I know, Rolex only used double sided coating (as on Omegas) on the new Cellini. The new Explorer is using AR only on the underside, but it is pretty bad to be honest, at least when comparing with the AR from other brands.
The problem with Rolex is that the rip off continues well after purchase. Service for $800-$1000. Even if it is every 5-7 years. It's too much FOR ME. I trusted someone else to service for much cheaper and ending up ruining the dial with water. Get a new dial you say? I was quoted $1,000 + installation. No thanks. Sold it. Replaced with a Glycine 36 Combat Sub for $379. Don't care about prestige of the brand. Rolex makes great watches but FOR ME I can't justify the cost and the service pricing.
My watch was purchased 2 years ago from MaMaCoo and, to this day, it still looks and runs as well as it did the day it arrived. That movement has never missed a beat despite never having been serviced. I can't complain about that.

The "problem" with the 41mm isn't the size (IMO), but the proportions of the dial and bezel, I think they're a little off for a no date watch. I really don't see the OP as "basic" or "entry level" Rolex, it's just a no date watch, which Rolex only offers three variants of. The price also says otherwise 😂 I have a 2021 36mm Explorer, 2018 39mm OP White Dial and a 7.5" wrist. I love both and both look fine on my wrist. Smaller watches are where it's at.

The DJ fluted bezel is not 8600 USD, maybe 10 yrs ago. I just purchased one 2 months ago from an AD, mint dial, very nice. Like someone said in the comments, I plan to hold onto it forever. It'll make a nice heirloom. The OP is a nice watch but underwhelming. A good deal if purchased at retail price or small premium. I would certainly rock one at retail, especially that green dial. I would pay a moderate premium for the pink dial 41. That one is ridiculous. I am waiting for this market craziness to subside and be able to buy it at 2k over retail. In time, with patience, I believe it will be possible.
I mean the OP 36mm and 41mm both have the same movement as the Sub no date!. On top of that it’s finished beautifully. I think the OP is a good buy at $6k and 10k. The thing I really like about Rolex is you get the same quality whether you pay $6100 or $20000. Same level of finishing on both. Most brands don’t do this. I personally think the OP is one of the greatest values in watches today.
Op's are extremely underwhelming which is why they sat stagnant in ad display cases a few years back. It then became one of the few attainable Rolex's from an AD! While we may not see subs and gat's sitting inside display cases, I wager that lesser models will become present in display cases within a year.
I LOVED Elvis and think Austin Butler did an amazing job in the role. The watches you could see in the movie were very nice although I was hoping to see a Rolex King Midas
At retail, basically all Rolex watches are worth their price. Specs wise they are a little pricey but brand heritage and prestige makes up for that. At the inflated market prices 2-4 times retail, no they aren’t worth it. Look at Tudor or Omega.

@@chaosad4508 The 41 was Rolex’s internal code for larger OP. There were more OP41 made than OP36 and OP34 combined together, with ratio 4:1. Look at the finishing of OP41. The hour marks are squarish, the crown on the dial is small. It required much less labor to make it. During lockdowns keeping less people at the factory was crucial. I own both, OP41 and OP36 with stella dials. When I walk into the AD wearing those watches: OP41 - it’s a nice watch! OP36 - where did you get that watch? Both watches are great. I like this video and you other videos quite a bit, but isn't the title a bit misleading? You basically say that the watch is worth it at RETAIL, not at grey market price. That's a lot different than saying that the watch "isn't worth it." at all like your title implies.
Im 2 years late but I don't understand the title. The entry level Rolexes are the ones that are worth more. The oyster bracelet is the same in this one than in a 50k one. Meaning the less you pay the more value the watch has because the base technology is already there on the cheapest model. With that said... they get easily scratched. Specially the bezel being polished, from my experience with an Explorer I 40mm. Oh well, they are built to be worn, but I wore a Seiko SARB for many years that doesn't have many scratches and I doubt my explorer will look as good after half the use.
I love the oyster perpetual without date, because even a submariner full gold with date have to be st each two month when the date pass from 30 to 1 of the next month, even an expensive watch will give you day 31 each month...so i prefer the oyster
Got tired of waiting for this. Changed my option for silver 36mm DateJust with the classic fluted bezel, jubilee bracelet.. now THAT'S a classy watch for life. Don't go with the hype (unless the AD does call! The green OP is very cool..... at retail prices)
Most like Rolex as a cool status symbol, like the datejust and daydate but don't get the reason people want the OP. Seems so boring so is it simply because it's a Rolex? Seems to me that you just end up with a fairly stale watch that just so happens to be "a rolex". Why not get the new omega aqua terra 38mm in color. Some would say it's a copy but it's an actual good watch that looks beautiful and that omega seems to care about.

Fingers crossed the market trend continues and the actual enthusiast get the watches they actually want 🤞🏼 Great video as always - for a second I thought I was watching a Bark&Jack video 😂

Michael, I know you love the club campus. Just wondering if it ever bothers you that it has this sports watch look with a dress watch movement? For me it gives the impression it can take a beating, with its form and 100m water resistance, but it’s really got a movement that’s quite susceptible to shock and magnetism. I believe the delicate alpha movement is really more suited to dress watch forms like the Tetra you’ve mentioned on here before, because it seems more fitting rather than being “a sheep in wolfs clothing”. Just my 2 cents, love the club’s look, I wish Nomos would develop an automatic that was robustly durable to fit it, rather than just making it entry level and sticking in the alpha. I guess going with this video, what Rolex does. Anything sports, even the entry oysters are all sufficiently durable and match its appearance. Aka it can take a knocking. 30m on the Tetra is appropriate so people don’t swim and jump off cliffs with it, it’s pretty easy to damage the Alpha caliber.
*The GS model you mention can’t go swimming very much or snorkeling or diving, and it has to be wound daily. I like that feature BUT many watch buyers do not.*
@@joeskeptical4762 I was just thinking a time only watch to compare it to. Most grand seikos at the $5000 price point have a date function so i didnt want to compare them. That is because Rolex, like other brands, uses the "measure number" more as an identification tool rather than the exact size. Also, the size of the bracelet factors in the perceived size of a watch. Case in point: I own an Explorer I 224270 (40mm). Compared to an OP 41 grey dial that I compared with looked much smaller.
@r2l100 what Omega do you have? Maybe it’s newer than I assumed
That bark and jack impersonation was spot on lol
The proportions of the OP 36mm are perfect and suit any wrist size depending on your level of confidence of course
An ironically insecure comment
Agreed 👍
My watch was purchased 2 years ago from MaMaCoo and, to this day, it still looks and runs as well as it did the day it arrived. That movement has never missed a beat despite never having been serviced. I can't complain about that.
I have a 15 year old OP. It still keeps perfect time.
At 6’ ft 185 lbs & 7” wrist for perspective- got 34mm OP Black best of the lot esp with symmetry & small roman numerical touch !! I swear, can’t wear anything bigger anymore not even 38’s - Small watches were perfect & more people are realizing it !!
Shhhh don’t tell people that small watches are dope.
@@bdg5593 hahaha!! Now that you mention, I do see the point must zip it 🤐
I'm smaller than you are, but used to wear 42-44mm and bought a 114200 a few years ago (34 mm), and the larger watches are gathering dust...Black dial is the way to go 👍
Unfortunately they discontinued the 34mm Datejust.
@@tbprofile1295 yes I tried for 114200 in black or white (no Luck buying) it would be a tad better as it wears bigger to 124200 but nonetheless 34 for W 🥇
A simple, classic beauty that gives you everything you need in a watch and nothing else, perfection.
That bark and Jack was scary spot on
Ive been on the list for this model in green for just about 2 years now. Truthfully its the only Rolex I actually want. I just love this particular green color.
Two years? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
2 years for a Christmas tree-green faced watch 😭
Took me 2 years to get my op green 41 so hang in there
Im waiting close to 3 years or already 3 years..
@@Y0kiwi 3 already, but I have up and bought an Hermes H08 instead. Done with the Rolex games
The 36 mm is the right dress watch size - good for women, too - a nice unisex watch - below the radar when wearing this Rolex - like the 36 Explorer - great and humble Watch - and green is the Rolex colour
We are sitting down and drinking coffee. LoL. I love the impression.
Is the green dial flat? It doesn’t seem to have that brushed shine like the deep blue dial. Seems like they went flat on all the colors except the deep blue, and the white though it’s a little more subtle in white
Just picked it up in 41MM. The dial is perfect ... its worth a lot more $ than you would think
I just inherited an OP from like 1980. Is it worth something?
The B&J part was hilarious 🤣🤣
Waaaaay overpaid for an OP Celebration but I absolutely love it. My first OP and I so much appreciate the simplicity and clean look of it. Feels great on the wrist as well...long live the OP!
@9:30 agree, vintage clasps are way better... thin and still secure with no durability issues...
I'd go for an Omega Aqua Terra instead.
Take down the grey market? Don't buy, period.
OP 36mm is the best Rolex
If you are a child or woman yes.
The "problem" with the 41mm isn't the size (IMO), but the proportions of the dial and bezel, I think they're a little off for a no date watch.
I really don't see the OP as "basic" or "entry level" Rolex, it's just a no date watch, which Rolex only offers three variants of. The price also says otherwise 😂
I have a 2021 36mm Explorer, 2018 39mm OP White Dial and a 7.5" wrist. I love both and both look fine on my wrist. Smaller watches are where it's at.
*The OP 41 measures 39mm on the calipers.*
@@joeskeptical4762 As I said, it's not the size but the proportions of the 41mm OP that look off (IMO).
@@m.e.p.r *I agree. I looked closely at a 39mm Explorer in year 2014 and it felt off, so I held the same, off. I much prefer my 36 OP in the sunburst steel dial.*
I prefer the Air King.
The Op41 is the perfect fit for me, as a person with wrists like a blacksmith. For me, it probably looks like a 36 at the most people. I don't see any issues with this size. If sb doesn't like it, than he can take the 36 and be happy.
The yellow OP 36 haunts my dreams, I miss her sm
I agree
Agreed 100% The yellow 36mm was the king. I’m still hoping to get one someday. It’s was modern, classic, youthful, under the radar with perfect proportions
That green watch is beautiful imo
That bark and jack impersonation 🤣🤣🤣
spot on Bark and Jack impersonation
It’s a great watch. I waited 6 months from my AD and got it for $6100. It’s kind of a perfect 1 watch do it all. Love it!
Op's are extremely underwhelming which is why they sat stagnant in ad display cases a few years back. It then became one of the few attainable Rolex's from an AD! While we may not see subs and gat's sitting inside display cases, I wager that lesser models will become present in display cases within a year.
Thanks, Josh! Nice shots! 😁
My god I've never seen this watch in green, what a beautiful watch
I LOVED Elvis and think Austin Butler did an amazing job in the role. The watches you could see in the movie were very nice although I was hoping to see a Rolex King Midas
At retail, basically all Rolex watches are worth their price. Specs wise they are a little pricey but brand heritage and prestige makes up for that. At the inflated market prices 2-4 times retail, no they aren’t worth it. Look at Tudor or Omega.
Spot on I definitely agree with you, I was lucky enough to get two at retail but one I gave to a very close friend
The OP is so classic like a E36 M3….its timeless design thats clean and simple!
This guy gets it
I really like the OP, I like understated watches.
Agreed
Yo, what's up everyone? It's your favorite commenter here with another video feedback. Today, I'm going to be reviewing out this video by the talented creator. Let me tell you, this video is absolutely amazing. I'm not even kidding. It's so good that I'm actually starting to feel a little empowered. I mean, how can someone be so talented? Seriously, though, this video is a must-watch. It's informative, entertaining, and just plain good. So what are you waiting for? Go check it out right now!
Most new watches won’t age as they traditionally did before. Scratches and marks on cases/bracelets will be the new “patina” going forward. Nice video and topic.
Very true

OP36 with stella dials going to be way more collectible compared to OP41.
prove your point.
When I walk into the AD wearing those watches:
OP41 - it’s a nice watch!
OP36 - where did you get that watch?
Both watches are great. Both going to be extremely collectible. It’s just OP36 is slightly better proportioned, has the beveled hour marks, which makes them more sparkling, and better fitted crown.
debating with myself about getting one, green is my favorite, only thing in my position it would have to be secondery market and prices seem still unreasonable high, around £10k for 36mm is waaaay too much. Didn't know about 4:1 ratio etc.. thanks for the answer.
@@chaosad4508 very soon Rolex going to release stella Daydate. I would safe for those.Rolex plans to make all of their 36mm watches exclusive. Smaller watches are coming back in fashion. While everyone is chasing larger watches, I would add couple smaller ones into my collection. My holy grail watch is 36mm Daydate with Rainbow Baguette Diamond Dial Watch. It’s a far out of my price range. I am hoping someday I’ll get one.
Op 36 is my favorite gada watch
I think the OP is like a Golf GTI, does everything very well yet always has the classic looks and linage behind it.
Yep. If the Golf GTI cost five times what it does.
@@chrishennemeyer7276 that’s if you can get retail, even GTIs go for above retail when they are new
Yeah the long clasp is in need of refinement
I just got the new 3861 Metas Hesalite Speedmaster and I love wearing it everyday! I love that it’s taking on my memories of hanging with my kids, going skiing, a big gouge from putting an IKEA family coffee table together… although I still would like an entry-level OP 41 Blue, well, because it’s Rolex! I do also love the fluted bezel and jubilee of the Datejust, but I don’t like to be flashy so I think the OP is the perfect GADA watch to take on memories, just like my Speedy! Love you channel!
What wrist size, in inches, is the minimum size for someone to wear a size 41 watch?
7 inches I would say. The spec is actually 39.5 mm
Love the watch & the green especially! However my favorite is the explorer 36 …forever
Great review I Thoroughly enjoyed it 💯🔥
a green OP or a Yachtmaster with Platinum bezel, date, and fantastic bracelet. Both 12K
For all the headache and expenditure associated with Rolex, i would rather look for a basic design like this somewhere else.
You say the explorer has added shock resistance...are you sure? I can't find anything which supports that.
The answer is no.
for me it was a great entry watch. I got the red one and i wear it since 3 years and its double in price now on second market ^^
Only kept my 85 datejust. Keep rocking my Railmaster '17 and Seamaster 300 Trilogy, an OP would be fun, but yeah, we got Swatch too- ;)
I wanted the 41mm green one... Until I tried it.
If only they had it the size of their deep sea or made a 45mm....
I like big
what? LOL
Urgh
A 45mm OP would look absolutely ridiculous.. the dial to case ratio without complications or a date would look silly
The black or blue dial is kinda worth it though.
I have read 904 steel actually scratches more easily.
14:00 wait, does the Explorer (1) have added shock resistance?
I thought, like the Submariner, it also had the standard 3230 movement.
Agree the clasps on the new rolexes need to be more seamless and integrated
I love the oyster perpetual without date, because even a submariner full gold with date have to be st each two month when the date pass from 30 to 1 of the next month, even an expensive watch will give you day 31 each month...so i prefer the oyster
Got tired of waiting for this. Changed my option for silver 36mm DateJust with the classic fluted bezel, jubilee bracelet.. now THAT'S a classy watch for life. Don't go with the hype (unless the AD does call! The green OP is very cool..... at retail prices)
Datejust > OP always. It’s a more iconic design and easier to find a fair price white tons of options and variations.
How much time you've been told? Im on a waiting list for a DJ jubilee combo.
@@OscarRPalma A 36 will usually take a couple of months if you can get an AD to order it for you.
You could have saved space by simply posting "Rolex isn't Worth It".
That green dial though....cool....
You're insane, OP and sub no date are the real and most beautiful watches.
Best Rolex EVER. I’ll take two
Why are they not worth it .please explain .i always dreamed of owning one tbh
It’s a SS 3 hand watch.
You are right. So I got both 😁
12K? No way thats like SBGA413 + Pelagos/SM300 + 1926. There are like unlimited options to get sports watch, dive watch and dress watch for that kind of money.
Got a 36mm pink OP two weeks after they were released for my wife from an AD - no purchase history with this particular AD! She wore it everyday for over a year, never cleaned it or polished it. Used it as a Rolex should be used, it was fairly scratched up and was still able to sell it to a dealer straight away for €13k who in turn sold it for €16k within a week!Absolute madness! Fingers crossed the market trend continues and the actual enthusiast get the watches they actually want 🤞🏼 Great video as always - for a second I thought I was watching a Bark&Jack video 😂
lol talking about you hope real enthusiasts get the watches yet you flipped your wife’s pink op for a profit 😂. I hope no dealer ever gets you a good Rolex. You are the reason the market is messed up. Somebody else would have kept it and enjoyed it.
Please can I ask I bought my grandson in 2020 I asked for a 2019, oyster, perpetual date just 36 mm is that a good choice for a man because he won’t get it till he’s 18 And is only three years of age now
I got the green at retail and I am super happy with it. I think I’ll hold onto it for life
Dam bro your lucky that watch is 🔥
Looking forward to the GS Kodo review
41mm is actually 39mm. Not sure why it’s marketed as 41.
Green not possible to get at an AD without a long waiting list and significant recent purchase history
What's the added component for the Explorer to have added shock resistance than the OP??
Nothing, he apparently doesn't know what he's talking about
Worth recommended retail price, not worth the inflated secondary market prices. Time for that particular bubble to burst.
Would I want this or an SBGW series Grand Seiko for $1000 less. Hmmm
But the SBGW289 is 100m water resistant. All sbgw indicate the movement inside is their 9s64 caliber which is hand wound.
For $5600 you could get an SBGM247 which is an automatic winder, with a date function, GMT hand and 200m water resistance. Or an SBGR would be the closest but a little boring and also $1000 less than the rolex.
@@toegunn4905 *: Feature for feature, GS watches are better than a Rolex but for a buyer’s subjective style preferences AND the 904L steel. That’s a really nice aspect for durable longevity, say over a few decades.*
Mike, I have really enjoyed your solo videos and I especially enjoy the lack of bleeping out!! Thank you!!! 😁👍🏽
Not OP but I do own a 41mm DJ 126334 and it looks smaller than my 40mm watches and far smaller than my 42mm watch . I can't see why anyone with normal sized wrists could ever say the DJ 41 is too big.
All in all, the new 40mm Explorer is basically the same size as the old 39mm.
OP36 in Bright Blue is the best OP….really don’t like the turquoise…..and any of the 41mm ones look like dinner plates, too much dial space
