I recently discovered this board game and I'm loving it, it quickly became one of my favorites! As I was playing on the physical board with my friends, some questions appeared and I couldn't solve them looking at the rules or in this video, so I will ask: 1 - Suppose a territory says I gain 3 blue tokens and I spend all my resources and food in this turn. In the end of my turn, I will end up with MORE blue tokens in my bank than the spaces indicated there. This means that I keep these extra blue tokens there, in my blue bank, the same way that could happen with the yellow tokens? (we played this way) 2 - There were an event card that said something like "gain 1 culture for each type, each unit of military...". So, suppose that I have two knights, one warrior and one cannon. With this setup, I would gain 3 culture points, or 5 culture points? (the confusion was about what it means "unit" and "type" exactly, in this situation) That is it for now, thank you!
Both blue and yellow token bank has unlimited space, you can gain (or lose) any amount of extra tokens. These changes are permanent, until the end of the game. Impact of Variety - gain two culture per type of military unit, urban building, and blue (special) tech. That means that you only need one of each to score the 2 points per type. Multiple units of the same type don’t give extra points. We recommend to follow the text as much as possible. Some events can give you points per military unit, some per type of military unit. See the difference? Unit is an actual token, while type of units means any military type (eg. cavalry) with at least one token on any of these cards
Perfect! Then we played correctly that time, we interpreted the card this way. Actually, considering the complexity of the game, the language is quite clear... we are not having much trouble to understand the card effects, and that sheet with the turn sequence help quite a lot with the terms in the verse of it. When we play other games, usually the rules are not so clear... We play the portuguese version of the game, so the impact of variety card may be misleading a little bit in the translation. Anyway, thank you for the reply! But we played again and I have further questions: 1 - There is another Age III event card that says we gain points for "whatever produces the least". This means that I can choose, among the things I have, what would produce the least to gain points? Like, suppose I have Age A farms, but have Age III Labs (with tokens only in this card and not in the past ages one, as I did upgrades): in this scenario I could choose to gain points for the Labs instead of farms? I got the idea that this card means to evaluate the civilization that was kind of "less upgraded", so someone that reach the end of the game without better buildings/Labs etc would be penalized. 2 - Like the rules say about "negative culture points", I guess this is somewhat impossible to occur, but suppose a situation where someone, for some reason, ended up their turn with no blue tokens in the bank. If an event appears and say they can gain food or resources, they will not gain anything because they don't have available blue tokens?
Not gonna lie, my english knowledge kinda sucks. I have this game for a year now, and couldn’t even understand it in my mothertonque.. but now I feel I can show this game to my friends and I Feel free to play it. Thanks a lot!!!
One question about the one off bonus from the Colonization. In your example the card says "(food icon) 3". Assuming I have Irrigation and each food token I produce is worth 2. Does the bonus mean that I get 3 blue tokens and their total value must me 3 or do I get just 3 blue tokens and I can put them on Irrigation, having 6 food in total? Thank you!
It’s better that this video is an unscripted one. That way, it is more natural. First time I understood one of your videos (finaly). Else, I could get bored since I would be listening to a non thinking semi-automated voice. Thanks again. I hope to see more unscripted videos like that. More natural, more real…
This explanation is incredible!! You’re an excellent teacher!!

You will get only 3 food in total. But you can split 2 blue cubes to basic Agriculture and Irrigation and it helps you to avoid the corruption.
