I really appreciate how Ryan gives short pauses after explaining something. It really helps give the viewer some time to process the information. I've never seen this level of empathy and care for learners in a tutorial channel! Awesome editing too! Subscribing to this amazing boardgame channel!!
Empathy is the exact right word
I haven't noticed that until you mentioned it. I pause other videos a lot and rewind. I get new info too fast so I am still processing something when new information comes in.
@@auroreinara7322 I always find that happens, usually Americans who explain things so quickly! Having a pause and a slower speaker really helps internalize things, without having to pause as much.
@@DonRoyalX EMPATH WORLD = -1 Military strenght ;)
This is so unbelievably helpful. I had the same experience, opened the rulebook and let out a WTF at all the grey and alien hieroglyphics.
This is the best board/card game rules video I've ever seen -- clear, well-paced, well-ordered explanations.
Thanks so much, Myles!
Wow. The best rules video for Race I've seen. Saved this one to show new players I introduce to the game. Excellent job! Really liked the slick and simple animations. They really helped visualize the rules explanation.
Thanks. That means a lot.
I totally agree with this comment I just played Race for the first time today (on my lunch break) and this video let me basically jump right in with almost no down time for teaching.
+1
Really.
i learned to play Roll FTG Steam/digital edition with his other video.
very well done, the pacing is excellent.
but i'm looking to get into Race now ! : )
You, sir, are a life-saver (with mad explaining and editing skillz)! Thank you!
Best player isnt always best teacher. But this guy is a great teacher. He explains it in a way a new player would understand and captures all the important essence of the game mechanics. good job.
Thanks, Kyle. You are kind.
Excellent rules tutorial! Was confused trying to learn it on my own but you explained it so comprehensively and clearly with helpful examples too, Thank you!
Definitely one of the best intros and explanations of this fantastic game! Helped me learn and teach the game
im normally tasked with finding and explaining new boardgames for my table and finding good videos to understand the game is actually kinda hard yours is very contextualized and takes a new player perspective into consideration people always find it easier to understand all if they go for the general sense to the specifics as you do its so well done
Love the effort you have put into creating such a great explainer video. The subtle sounds and animated effects were great. Thank you! Looking forward to playing.
This is by far the best video I’ve watched to explain the game. Excellent editing & animations, great pace, & descriptions are simple but effective. This is *THE* video I will show to new players. Thank you!
Thanks so much!
Easily the best tutorial I’ve seen for this game, and - somehow - one of the shortest! Excellent job, sir!
Amazing tutorial. Animation and camera work are great. Thank you very much!
I've watched a number of RFTG rule explanations. This one is by far the best. Thank you!!!
I super agree on the tip of playing with the resources BEHIND the cards, it makes so much sense than cover your own powers! Thank you for the tip :)
Glad i could help!
Just got the digital version of this game (have never played the physical version) and found this to be very helpful. Thank you! You've earnt a subscription :)
Brilliant tutorial! Different than others, well-thought-out, really well made and edited!
What a great video! I played Roll for the Galaxy this past weekend and this game now makes far more sense to me. Great job!
Thanks, Mark! i played Roll this past weekend too! How'd you do? (i tied for second with two other players. My wife whooped us all!)
One of the best "how to plays" I have seen for any game, much less Race for the Galaxy. Subscribed. Hope to see more.
Excellent video with high production value. I hope you get more popular. You deserve it.
Excellent explaining video! Rhythym is perfect and I especially like the suggestions offered.
Fantastic! The best rules video I've ever seen. About to start my first game and this video was so easily digestible. Love all your videos!
Thanks Ruta!
Thank you for this very clear explanation. I learned the game through the rule book, but your video will certainly be bookemarked so I can come back to it later after a longer pause.
Been playing Race for over a year, but I do remember how much effort was involved in learning it, and a video like yours definitely makes it so much simpler. I've recommended to people I am going to introduce to Race - thanks!
Thanks, Joel!
After watching many tutorial videos while I am playing the app based version so I'm more prepared to play the physical game, this video had been the single best instructional video on Race for the Galaxy. Especially for the details on the produce and consume phases I am always confused by.
Thanks so much!
So nice! Thanks, Michael.
Thank you. I just started playing on the computer this weekend and your video truly helped me. I appreciate your effort and time. :)
Glad i could help, Leo!
This is an outstanding rules explanation video. Awesome work!
very good production calue, liked all theese slick animations, ver well done, your time of investment was really worth it :)
Subscribed because this is the best tabletop game how to video I’ve ever watched! I sooo appreciate the visual aids, the use of alliteration to help remember a key part of the rules-and the fact that you didn’t start with the setup! My eyes glaze over when people start with the setup. It’s just not relevant yet, so I space out.
Thanks so much, quibily! Setup-at-the-end is a key differentiator for the channel, and i'm with you... i do it precisely because it cranks the interest level up to Super-Boring right off the jump if you do it at the beginning.
If you are searching for an explanation video about how to play RFTG this is the best one!
It is perfect also for the digital version as well ... a really fantastic work ... thanks!
Very helpful video, we played a couple of times but were always confused how the trade/consume mechanic actually works when you have a mix of different goods and consume powers. Now it's much clearer.
I've decided to "like" your videos as soon as I start them. I always feel better about learning a new game by watching them!
Thanks so much!
This is an excellent rules video. Concise in all of the ways it wants to be. Great work!
This is awesome! I usually prefer learning games from rulebook but i was really curious to see how you can condense these hard to grasp rules in 14 minutes and wow, you nailed it!
Thanks, Adelin! Worth clicking that Subscribe button?
Awesome video, Ryan thanks so much. Needed a quick simple way to learn to try the game on Board Game Arena. I appreciate the simplicity and yet detailed video. :) Cheers
Wow, this video was just amazing! I played it at 1,25 speed and the tempo was perfect for me. Great job!
This was amazingly clear and concise. Thank you so much.
BEST EXPLANATION FOR THIS FANTASTIC GAME ON THE UA-cam - WELL DONE FRIEND
Shucks - thanks!
The editing helped a ton! thank you very much sir!
Hey thanks for the clear instruction of the dishwasher manual of this game. We feel much more sure to start playing it right away. Thanks for the clear overview, symbols, funny comments but also the tips. Great vid
My pleasure! i hope you enjoy it. It’s a good time. i can also highly recommend its spiritual successor, Roll for the Galaxy.
Excellent work, once again, Ryan. I really like your review style.
Thanks so much!
What an incredibly fantastic rules video!! Can't wait to start playing this evergreen.... finally...
By far the best tutorial vid i've found for Race for the Galaxy. I've learned hundreds of games but for some reason my brain just skips off of this one despite a real desire to play it (i've owned it for years). The rule book is WORSE than a dishwasher manual because I still have dirty crockery everywhere after reading it...
Ryan, you have a gift for simplifying the complex. Many thanks.
What a lovely comment to wake up to!
@@NightsAroundaTable200+ plays later the comment still stands.
I remember buying this game on a whim because of the positive reviews but was only a beginner when it came to games. We played it once, was overwhelmed and never came back to it. This video is great and now I can't wait to play the game. Thanks!
That's good news! i think it's worth the effort to learn.
You really gotta do more how to plays - this was incredible
Great video that helped me learn this game. Subscribed!
This is a great video! Thank you for explaining it so easily.
Amazing video, I wish I'd seen it when i started playing Race. Will definitely pass it around to friends ahead of teaching them the game!
Thanks, Joel!
you, sir, are a complete natural at this game. Economy of words coupled with tight and witty descriptions of the most common troublespots (such as trade / consume and the basic idea of using the cards for ruddy everything!) make for an excellent, entertaining listen. Too many yoochoob geeks asume their audience is up to their speed and I hope you attract many subscriptions and thumbs from newbies and bgg-ers alike by looking at games from a newcomer's angle. Bravissimo!
Thanks so much! i was voted tightest and wittiest in high school!
You deserve more suscribers, like a lot more. Thanks for this tutorial.
A Mage knight or War of the ring tutorial with the same love would be a godsend.
Thanks, Eze! Tell your friends about me on social media.
Did Paul Grogan's Mage Knight vid not do the trick for you?
ua-cam.com/video/n_d0k1FZ2mI/v-deo.html
Beautifully done, thank you so much.
Nice work, mon! Thanks for putting it together! New to the game. It’s one that’s been sitting on the shelf for probably two years and it’s about time the gf and I tackled it!
Do it! i hope you'll like it!
I've been wanting to try RftG for a while as a 2 player game but was worried about the initial complexity with my wife (we're medium weight gamers). This was the first of any of the UA-cam videos that was paced well for learning, had beautiful graphics to call out details, and, frankly, made sense enough to encourage me to try it. I've subscribed to your channel. Well done and thanks!
Thanks so much! Glad i could help!
Fantastic video, simplifies the rules tenfold.
Great job. Clear and concise rules that cut through the rule book
Thank you!
This game is one of the best games ever created.
Love your channel man, keep it up
Fantastic overview and super concise! Love it
Hey - thanks so much!
Great tutorial and nicely produced video too!
Thanks, battlemode! Them's fightin' words! (But i assume, with a name like "battlemode," that all your words is fightin' words.)
I dont understand why the rest of your channel doesnt get as much views, your content is so good, you deserve much more suscribers and views, keep up the good work dude.
Thanks so much, Pablo! Tell your friends. ;)
Dear Ryan, is it possible that a card consumes it's own good?
Btw, what a great 'how to play'! Top notch, in terms of content and visually. A galactic masterpiece!
Thanks so much! You’d have to give me specifics, but i think it’s technically possible? The abilities on the cards trigger in different phases, and if a power says you get to consume “a” good, i don’t think the game cares where that good comes from. If the game was farming-themed, you’d just be harvesting a crop.
Thank you for teaching my wife and myself this game. One of the best rules video's I've seen.
Thanks, Nafmi! More to come.
Thanks!!! You're explain everything so clearly and you're a lot of fun, too!
i'm available for parties!
Dude, this is the best explanation for this game. Thank you!
Thanks! My pleasure!
Love this man! We learned Race last night and this helped a ton!
Super! Glad i could help!

Definitely the video to watch to understand this game. I was so confused but now I think I can take it on
Thanks, Joy! Do you own a copy?
Thank you so much for this video! I read maybe half of the rulebook, then started looking for videos. Your video helped clarify and explain a poorly written rulebook!
Glad i could help, Connor!
You won a suscriber. Great video, hope you have others "how to play" as good as this one.
Thanks, Enri! You can check out everything i've got on the Big Game Grid:

this explanation so good, I understood the game but I’m watching this again
Thank you so much!
HELP ME, RYAN FROM NIGHTS AROUND A TABLE
Edit: That was very helpful, thanks. And I like the "AAAND SPAAACE!" bit.
i'M HERE FOR YOU
Ryan should win an award for this tutorial!!🏆
It’s an honour just to be nominated.
Best explanation for sure. Great job explaining that damn phase IV btw!
Thanks, Eduardo! When you teach the game, it may work even better to teach phase V first, and then loop back around to phase IV.
This explanation is awesome!
Thanks a lot!
Your videos are SO good. Thank you so much!
Thanks, Mauranne!
Excellent video, I've just shared it with friends I'm trying to convince to play!
Hello.
What a very clear video!
Thank you so much, very good job.
The ability of explaining complex things this way is impressive!
( makes me think of Bill Bryson).
Regards from France.
Nico
Thank you, Nico!
Very clear explanations. Thanks
I just opened the game for the first time, looked at the first page of rules and though “oh dear, this looks too complicated to learn”. The game sounds a little bit like a mix between Puerto Rico & 7 Wonders. The video was very helpful, thanks for making it.
My pleasure! Hope it helped.
Amazing tutorial. Was desperate after going through that awful manual, but your video saved a game return!
This is a very good rules explanation video!
Wow, this is literally on of the best how-to-play videos I've even watched! Well done, sir! Subscribed!
Thanks, Lucas! i really appreciate it.
Outstanding job. Subscribed! 👍
Super helpful! Thank you!
Fantastic rules video! Just wanted you to know that.
Excellent explanation. Well done! Thank you.
Thanks so much!
Excellent tutorial! Thank you sir
Thank you so much for all your good explanations! I'll give it a shot :)
Hope you enjoy it!
What I was looking for :)!
Fantastic video! thank you so much
Please make more, this was the best.

Excellent excellent video. Thanks so much
Great video!
Wow. Many thanks. Supreme and professional.
The best RFTG rule video, thx!
