I deeply appreciate the camera allowing us to thoughtfully peruse the work without trying to make the camkeraman's work seem "artistic. Its about degas and how we iexamine his art which are the reasons for this excellent film. The commentary was thoughtful and enlightening. Degas remains a hero of mine as an artist, but he leaves me wondering why we Jews are so often the focus of anger and hatred. I appreciate the narrator's frank description of this unfortunate and misinformed aspect of Degas character. This film uses time very well. Good job!
A highly unusual documentary for its silent pauses and absence of music. This was quiet approach permits contemplation and is fitting for Degas’s apparent personality.
“Draw lines both from life and from imagination and you will become a good artist “ - a quote I really like - it’s a great way to be aware of both forms and, movements and relations of all life, both nature and culture 🎵🐦⬛🎶🖤
Dear Learn from the Masters, Excellent art/doc of Edgar Degas. Are you aware that the UA-cam video has more than thirty ADS? It completely RUINS the experience. It is unconscionable that the master's life should be debased with UA-cams current orgy of ADS. Yes, I could become an ad-free member of UA-cam, but that would be committing myself to their insatiable capitalist madness. J
But genuine artists with the gift are often disturbed flawed characters. They use art to process their fears and disturbances and are often solitary figures. Today every man and his dog become artists and their main aim is to make big money. This is why we are getting a lot of empty art today. We care about the art of Degas
Just finished watching. This is added to my previous comment: Degas’s antisemitism casts a pall. It is disheartening when we learn that a person whose work we have admired turns out to have a deeply flawed character.
Y’know, I refused Togo to church when I found the Lutheran antisemitism. I don’t worry about going to heaven..just hate that he was so horrid in his dislikes.

Beautiful show… THANK YOU for pausing so your audience (ME!) can enjoy the work before it flashes off the screen. ❤ Hi 👋 from Louisiana

It is lovely isn't it to find a documentary without loud filler.

YT Premium is the best 11.99 a month I spend. Ad free bliss.
Great Film,
Judge not, that you shall be judged.
This is very well done, but its quirks are likely the result of the writing, editing and narration being the product of an AI.
knows painting
isnt this man the jack the ripper
Sometimes it’s better to just appreciate the art….too bad about the man
Manet’s wife probably thought she looked fat😂
Well the antisemitism is kind of a let down. Still a great though

Look he is so good watching this makes me want to give up painting.
More than thirty ads! That isn’t capitalism, that’s run away greed.

We are all deeply flawed when looked back on in history.

Great Artist though!
I don’t care.
It’s pronounced Duh- gah. As for Ingres… it’s a shame they didn’t consult a French speaker.
What about the pronunciation of Rokeby!
In French it’s De-ga!
Ingres in French is ongre! I think?

These long unexplained pauses are creepy.....and annoying.
The long pauses are so you can observe the art and reflect.. jeez
