As a retired NHS high intensity therapist. I have a MSc in CBT ( BABCP approved) and to me, It is not black and white. Yes, there is NICE approved protocols etc. But within those are the meta competences that one develops with experience. For me CBT was never binary. By the way I have a deep sense that you are a genuine and sincere therapist, that knows her stuff.
There really needs to be more research done in a variety of psychological therapies not just CBT and mindfulness based therapies. Plus long term follow ups and outcomes not just short term studies and results.
Hi Dr Becky, found your information really useful in thinking about what training route I want to go down. I have done some training in CBT and DBT but the complex needs with people I work with as a nurse, its not enough or not the right fit. I think Integrative therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is another therapy that combines mindfulness and CBT similar to DBT and mindfulness based cognitive therapy.
