This is definitely getting lost in the comments, but a small tip for Linus from a lighting designer:
If you set one of your key lights to be brighter and warmer, and the other to be cooler and dimmer, your face will have more shadows on it. This lends a directionality to the light, giving more depth to your face, and makes it look more natural.
My first thought as well, also sometimes known as the McCandless Method!

Hey, as a lighter designer I have a question. For a person who wears glasses with anti-glare, how would you get the glare off the light from the lenses? In my videos, I feel like I am constantly fighting the glare coming off the light .

Well, most people would prefer to work from home, spending more time with their spouse, and children.
I had a mother who stayed at home and looked after us full time (4 boys) and a father who worked 9-5 (walked to school with us, and was home before sundown to spend time outside).
Personally, I decided long ago that any career I enter, has to be capable of working from home and spending time with my (future) children.

I see people commenting about how he used the Broadcaster mic with the U-Phoria UM2, and saying that theres no point in buying the expensive microphone if the interface bottlenecks it. But he did switch to the GoXLR, an around 400$ xlr interface. 9:37
The Behringer Interface is good enough for streaming. I used it to record vocals with a dirt cheap neever mic and it was quite satisfactory. Of course you can get a U87 and an AVID interface...

When you consider the money for the capture card and the DSLR... The webcam stood it's ground really well. Looked very good with decent lighting 👌

move the mic farther away, a little higher gain, set one of the key lights to a brighter/warmer setting to add depth, 1080i60 does NOT convert to 1080p30 very well because deinterlacing adds a ton of noise, but overall looks slightly better.
@@HazyJ28 I agree, I currently have had the UM2 for a few years now, pres are passable if you have something with high output like a condenser or a direct box, but compared to something like the Steinburg or the Scarlett, they are wayyy cleaner and more powerful pres.

I am getting older videos popping up on my feed now while LTT is on hiatus, so here is to revival commenting...
I recently upgraded my video studio as well. I was using two Blackmagic BMCC 2.5K cameras, but they were just too costly and cumbersome to operate. So I bought a Canon 90D to use for HD/4K video, a few Canon lenses including a 35mm f/2.0 IS USM, some nice ikan 576 LED lights ($600 each on sale $300), and a couple of video tripods to hold the Neewer X17 Teleprompters in the two studio areas. One studio is using an Audio Technica AT3035 mic and small Mackie 402VLZ4 mixer, the other is using a Sony wireless lapel. A couple of nice RGB LED lights for background coloring, and away we go.
Linus, if you get a proper carpet floor mat then it won't move, the one you have has nubbins that are too short to dig into the carpet. I have a couple like that, so annoying.

Would rather not comment on other men's beards, but as a bearded fellow, I recommend shaving the neck early on. I think the hair on the neck just isn't as good looking for 99% and it brings out more contrast to accentuate and strengthen the jawline, which is the goal of male pattern beard. Minor grooming makes it100% better and intentional, and not final exams season at a university.
Neck hair is literally the most disgusting. But none of this is directed at Linus, just giving general tips.

This is a good video for people like me trying to understand what things and stuff i need to improve my quality. Like what actual tools you use for it. The only thing i can say is it feels a little rushed like the video feels a bit short like you was in a hurry to get it over and done with, and we didn't see you use the pop filter for your mic.

If I’m not mistaken, most DSLR cameras don’t have a way to power the camera other than the battery, right? My Nikon can’t seem to run on wall power.

The funny part is that Linus could get the exact same image with the Logitech Brio of knew wanted. Adjusting the camera to look down instead cutting his entire body and adjusting the settings so he would be overexposed would pretty much get him the same results as the expensive camera he bought.

thecaffineman well that is not going to make that big of a difference to be fair. The dynamic range of the new mic is going to make up for a lot. Since you are probably not using an external DAC and YT uses like 256Kbit/s stream max, sound will be of lesser quality anyways
