Absolutely I almost had to get arrested other day at a walk in trying to get someone to write me a script for my blood pressure meds that I've been on past 15 years! My family dr. Passed away and the dr. I decided to try rite after turned out to be junkie quack who has a full time stenographer attached to his hip recording every thing that is said which struck me as odd rite off. Then as time went by I started hearing stories from other(like 6 or 8) people that there were a couple people that died under his care and families have malpractice cases open and supposedly he paid yet another off out of court couple years prior to the 2 cases pending now so I fired him. When I told them that at the walk in office they gave me all sorts of 💩finally I said what do I owe for the visit cuz I'm laid off and my coverage lapsed she said $80 I pulled the cash outta my pocket and when she went to grab it I put it back in my pocket and said shove it up your asses I'll go to jail before you get a penny of it outta me! I come here for help and you tell me that I have to get this taken care of ASAP that I can have a stroke or heart attack any second I show you my empty bottle of what I'm on to fix the problem and you tell me to go fuck myself that'll be $80.00?!!? And now it's a full blown seen the waiting room was full and they even had people out in the hallway I waited 2hrs before they saw me. Any how the other dr thatworks there must have come in the side door and heard what was happening and he came out and wrote me the script finally! That's how fucked up our healthcare system and standard procedures are!

Marc, You know you can have the docs there send your doc in Alaska all the tests and labs and ask for another opinion. You might have to send her a deductible and a copy of your insurance card. Give her office a call and see what can be done PDQ. No point in just waiting for months to go up there. Telemedicine is real. Then once you get a decision you can figure out where to get it done.

Sometimes when getting a second opinion, its a good idea to have everything done again (fresh scans and samples taken and what not). Because for all you know, the first batch of Doctors did something wrong, so sending what they gathered to a second group of Doctors wont help. Like with a used car I bought once: I could hear that there was something wrong with the bearings, but the dealership (who agreed to do repairs on the car up to a certain amount for no extra cost) said there was nothing wrong. It was faint, but I knew it was there. So, I took the car to a shop near my house, because I knew I could trust them. They went over the car themselves and found that I was right. I took their report back to the dealership and had them repair it.
Medical science is a wonderful thing, but its far from perfect. Especially given the Human element. Either because of lies or simple mistakes, an independent second opinion is always a good way to go.

I measure a Doctor by their compassion. Not where they went to school or their fancy equipment or office.
When they come into the exam room with your file open and their nose in it instead of just sitting down and asking you how you're feeling. Or if they are typing on their laptop more than looking at you physically is a red flag to me also.
A compassionate Doctor has the same information available as the next that they can research.
    Ride easy my Friend!

I know the frustration you are going through. I just had a total knee replacement. My knee literally fell apart inside. Very intents pain. Well, my orthopedic doctor would not operate because my A1C was too high. So, after a month I got that down. Then my white cell count was too high. I had to go to two different doctors for them both to say it was the inflammation from my knee causing it. 2 months have now passed. Now my orthopedic doc says my knee is now too stiff to operate so I have to go for therapy which was absolute torcher. Then I finally get the ok from the orthopedic doc tor for surgery. So, I go to the hospital for pre-surgery tests and they say my EKG is not right. Mind you I had just had one that was ok 3 months ago. So canceled the surgery again then it takes two months back and forth to the cardiologist to finally say my heart is as strong as an ox and that everyone's EKG can seem a little off at times. So finally I had the surgery a month later when they had an opening. So 7 months of BS before surgery and now I can walk again. Don't feel you are alone in this the system screws everyone equally.

    Marc,
You need a medical advocate. They are purposefully giving you the runaround so they don’t have to do the procedure. I don’t know what your insurance situation is…but I’ve seen this dozens of times. If it is Gov subsidized healthcare. They will delay, postpone, and make up reasons why they can’t do procedure. This is because the hospital and the Dr don’t want to lose money, or derive a patient for anything other than top dollar. Your situation is almost certainly this scenario. Please contact the Hospital patient advocate. Or a VA patient rep.
