It's so hard to pick just one I'd say Dracula from Stoker's 1897 novel And Sarah from My Babysitter's a vampire And the family of vampires from Disney's The Little Vampire
Sir, would you like to do a joint effort on the gods and legends of Aotearoa, New Zealand? Polynesian pantheon that reaches from New Zealand to Hawaii to Rapanui, Easter island. Most interesting stories of Maui, our demigod hero.
You do realize that until Christopher Lee, vampires didn't have fangs?! Homer, you don't even acknowledge the fact that until Hollywood, vampires didn't for the most part even TOUCH blood. They consumed LIFE FORCE, not blood. Vampires simply did NOT drink blood, period. Your research is horrid, wildly ignorant. Thumbs down. Sigh. You even got sunlight wrong. All it did until Hollywood was weaken a vampire, it didn't hurt them in any way. And you got that silly bit about holy relics/crosses wrong. That didn't happen until Hollywood, since it was very dramatic. Dammit, you even got stakes wrong. They weren't symbolic, you actually had to use specific woods depending on the region you found the vampire, and you had to ram the stake through the heart and into the ground itself. Again, silver didn't happen until Hollywood vs Vampires. Hell, silver didn't happen against werewolves until 1941's The Wolf Man (Beast of Gevaudan was an isolated incident). The novel Dracula didn't show love etc. He was a monster. READ THE BOOK YOU IDIOT! Half vampires have existed for centuries, they are great vampire hunters by nature, and have a few powers to back it up, again wrong!
My favorite vampire of all time is Dracula from Netflix's Castlevania adaptation. He wants to rid the world of humanity because they took his wife away from him. He had conflicts with his son about humans. He was a threat to his enemies. He's an amazing villain.
When I think of a vampire, I always picture it as the classic Bram Stoker vampire. My favorite vampire movie is Bram Stoker's Dracula. Oldman did a great job portraying Dracula.
He did great portraying Coppola’s Dracula. None of that love story, between Dracula and Mina, is in the Stoker story. It’s Jonathan and Mina, along with Quincy’s pure love, for Lucy, that are the romances in it. Coppola took liberties, and made a story that works in its own way, and tries to show the tragedy of Dracula, and by the end, Mina.
Women with Vampires: 'Omg, such a misunderstood bad boy, he's like Edward, so hot. He's so mysterious.' Men with Vampires: 'Death by hot goth snu snu? Hell yeah!'
I'd be very happy to see more vampire videos from different cultures. The legends are so widespread and varied. The same with werewolves, too, lots of cultures have very different werecreature legends
My thoughts as well! There's so many other vampire variations that lots of people don't know of or haven't been spoken of often enough, and many of them are very unique beyond the usual European vampire that people know of (like the Penanggalan from Malaysian culture or the Jiangshi vampire from Chinese culture). It'd be interesting to hear more about them! ^^
Personally, I will always love the Interview With The Vampire/Queen of the Damned Vampire. Eternally conflicted between their humanity and desire for blood. I think being a vampire should be lonely and full of suffering. I always surprisingly liked the BBC Dracula. I liked the take on him being the only one of his kind, and other vampires being something different. Plus, the ending had a great "look at Human ugliness" theme that I just love.
One of my favorite vampires is Jerry Dandridge from the original Fright Night movie because he was clever, sophisticated and classy with the traditional vampire powers.
VTM is a masterpiece but recently I found out that Sekhmet was actually a werewolf in the "world of darkness" universe which sounds terribly wrong in my opinion.
So glad you did this vid on vampires! It was my personal request, & you certainly delivered the goods on this topic! Extremely well done & thoroughly comprehensive, as well! Loved it! Peace & blessings to you, continuously!🌹💜🌍
I've always enjoyed Gary Oldman's performance in "Bram Stoker's Dracula", but ever since I watched the two Vampire Hunter D movies (Bloodlust in particular) and started reading the books, I fell in love with them! I was never too big into horror as a whole, and largely indifferent to vampire lore, but I really love the series' blend of fantasy horror and scifi. It's not perfect and probably not to everyone's taste, but I think it's an enjoyable franchise that's kind of flown under the radar among Western audiences.
Gary Oldman's performance is out of charts amazing. But the story as a whole felt like a betrayal to the original story even though it had lines from the original book. I don't know maybe it's just I read the 1895 book first and expected a movie named "Braham Stoker's Dracula" to be true to the original😂it was a good romanticized version tho. But I prefer the original.
The perfect way to start off the spooky season! This was a wonderfully comprehensive review of the vampire mythology and I loved how you touched on the different versions from around the world - including a couple I hadn't heard of before! If you haven't already done one on this, I would be very interested in a video covering Lamia, from the original Greek origins to the way the character evolved into the half-snake, half-woman creature more commonly referenced today. :)
All I can say right now, is there are so many vampires that strike at my heart. So here are some of them. Please don’t judge. Rayne (Blood Rayne) Eric Brooks (Blade) Morbius (Spider Man) Alucard/Seras Victoria (Hellsing Ultimate) Moka Akashiya (Rosario Vampire) Draculaura (Monster High) Selene (Underworld) That’s all I can think of off the top of my head for now. Next video topic: Rumplestiltskin.
Vampires might be THE most popular but, I still believe (in my personal opinion) werewolves and lycans to be THE best. Not knocking vampires out of the top seat by far, I love a good vampire as much as I do the furballs. Dracula and Van Helsing are favorites of mine, along with Balde and Underworld's Selene. Also I'd not known that using a stake for a vampire also symbolically pinned them to the earth. Always learning something new with your videos. Would love to learn more about vampires from other myth's and the like. Please continue sharing videos with us as often as you can, and thank you for your hard work!
Thanks. I enjoyed the video. One of my favorites, who seldom gets mentioned, is Barnabas Collins from the old television series, Dark Shadows. It shows him as a sympathetic character due to the fact that he despises his vampiric lifestyle. He brought a new dimension to the creature.
I would love to see a whole episode about Strigoi... They are kinda vampires in romanian folklor (the vampires well known around the world were invented by Bram Stocker and then asociated with Romania). There are many types of Strigoi and many unique rituals used by people to get rid of them so you'll have what to say in the video
Great video! I'll admit to being a sucker for the Underworld franchise (Kate Beckinsale fan!) and found the Ravenloft setting for AD&D to be a lot of fun. Strahd is of course a carbon copy of Dracula, with maybe just enough variation to avoid being sued.😂
The vampire in Salem's lot had me absolutely terrified, I think he was called Mr. Barlow. Apart from the fact that he looked scary, he didn't react to the crucifix which gave me nightmares for weeks.
Halloween story. I read a piece by a psychic who says the spirit of Bela Lugosi is still haunting his CA mansion. He was heavily into drugs and now he's stuck there. She's seen him there and he still dresses like the vampire he portrayed. Boo! 🎃🦇🧹🪄👻
I'd love to see a video about the Irish vampire. I hadn't heard of that particular vampire before, so I'd enjoy a video about less commonly known vampiric creatures like that
Here’s the story. Before she became the Derag Due she was a beautiful and kind hearted girl. She had porcelain skin, blonde hair like a sunflower and eyes as a green as a four leaf clover. She was also a princess. She fell in love with a mere stable boy. Her father of course did not allow the marriage. So he wed her off to a man older then him for a ton of money. He kept her locked in a tower and would go in. Using his dagger to cut her and see the blood drip on porcelain skin. She hoped that the stable boy would save her. But he never found out where she was. Eventually her hair turned white and her eyes turned grey. After a while she killed herself. She was buried by the village and the stable boy having found out about what happened to her asked for her to come back. In Irish tradition you must put a rock over the grave of a suicide victim otherwise they will turn into a vampire. But out of guilt no one could do so. Three nights later she rose from her grave. There she encountered her father and sucked the breath out of him. Eventually she encountered her husband having just married another woman. This time she drank him and his new wife’s blood. And from that day forward she was the Derag Due.
Please make videos on the Wendigo, the Mananangal, the Derg Du, the Chupacabra, the Drop Bear (Australian Folklore), the Nekomata (Japanese Folklore), Japanese Yokai/mythological creatures, Native American legends, El Silbon, the Banshee, La Llorona, the Gashadokoro (Japanese Folklore), the Komaitachi (Japanese Folklore), the Komainu (Japanese folklore), the Kitsune (Japanese Folklore), the Kappa (Japanese Folklore), the Werewolf, the Nuckalavee (Scottish Folklore, and the Kelpie (Irish Folklore)
This is truly a blood curling video! Made me think and wonders how the heck almost every civilization and culture in ancient times have the same graphic detail of a blood-sucking monsters even with different forms. Perhaps there some truth to it . . .
My favorite vampire is the one from 30 days of night. Also all the John Carpenter adaptations, the one with Jon von Jovi in Dia de los muertos. The "from dusk to dawn" vampires.
Anne Rices vampires, especially Lestat, is what I envision a true vampire being. If you ever get a chance read Anne Rices The Vampire Lestat!!! I have seriously read it 9 times and it's better each time I read it!!!
I’d love to see more videos on scary monsters of both folklore and cryptids during October. And my favorite vampire is and will always be Marceline Abideer.
Yes, do follow ups. Vlad the Impaler, Van Helsing, Lestat, and Interview With a Vampire. All good reads. So many changelings. Wish you would cover them all. ✌️
My favorite Sci fi universes that include vampires are "World of Darkness" ("Vampire the Masquerade" to be more specific) and "Supernatural ". In VTM vampires are shown as being separated in different races(clans) and in SPN vampires are shown as being separated between vampires (mainly inspired from the Slavic mythology) and other vampiric creatures.
My favorite vampires are from True Blood (with Eric Northman being my favorite character on that show), and The Originals (specifically Niklaus "Klaus" Mikaelson).
Just subscribed! This is an excellent video. To answer your question, while I have many favorite vampires from novels, film, & television, my number one favorite is Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer & it's spinoff Angel.
I don’t know what my favorite vampire is, owning to the many different iterations that are prominent in this day and age. But given all of that I think my favorite would be a cross (pun intended) between the 20th century , think Bela Lugosi, and Blade.
Who is my favourite vampire? Kain from Legacy of Kain. On the outside he is your typical tyrant but he is a rather complex character. The game franchise shows that neither side is strictly good or evil, the creatures we see as perfect examples of wickedness are capable of doing good if given the chance & the worst kind of evil is that who masquerades as goodness.
My favorite vampire character from popular culture is Selene because of how awesome she is and I even felt empathy and sympathy for her because of the fact that her family were killed by Viktor and that he lied to her about the death of her family were caused by the Lycans, but thanks to Kraven, the truth has been exposed, her eyes finally opened, and even Viktor himself admitted in killing her family and lying to her about it and thereby betraying her in the process and all of which lead to a battle between Michael Corvin and Viktor all the way to Viktor's second, final, and permanent death at Selene's hands and thus her quest to avenge her family has ended.
Dracula is my base for vampire lore. Ann Rice was my next interest, to see if she developed on the Dracula legend. She alluded to it but didn't really connect like I hoped she would. In any case, her tales were fascinating in detail. Other than that, I read one tale from a fantasy collection from Forgotten Realms that was interesting in that whole created world.
Unpopular opinion here, but I loved the Dracula mythos from the film Dracula 2000. The origin portrayed in that film was well executed and makes so much sense that you slap yourself on the head and say "Why didn't I think of that?"
Although at first it might appear as just another YA craze adaptation, The Vampire Diaries show (2009-16) is maybe my favourite interpretation of the expanded lore of these creatures, as it keeps much of the classic characteristics yet puts in a logical modern image that for example isn’t in any way connected to demons or religion. It’s a good series because of the story and characters too but the portrayal of the supernatural beings is actually really well handled
Alucard from the Castlevania series. Son of Dracula, born of a human woman. Detests his dark nature and his father. Uses his powers to combat other creatures of the night. A very cool character. The runner-up would have to be Rudy Giuliani.
Great video, i wish we had one about the origins of vampires, lilith and meaby the first stories in the mytology. i like to see more about the other in the beginning of the video, shang chi and all the other, perhaps a video about vampires in asian and africa. stil great video, thanks.
My Romanian grandmother once said of Bela Lugosi's Count Dracula, "That IS Dracul'ya." In the village where my grandmother grew up, vampires could not emerge from their graves during the day. Everyone was advised to remain indoors from sunset to sunrise. A howling of a dog or wolf would cause people to utter a prayer to St. Michael. Any night-wandering animal would be viewed with suspicion. A newly covered grave would also be covered with poppy seeds, sprinkled with water blessed by a priest and have crosses/crucifixes made of iron placed over them. Bram Stoker didn't make up every aspect surrounding vampiric lore.
Towards the end of this video, i suddenly remembered the 2009 movie Daybreakers. The plot revolves around vampires sedating humans, & collecting their blood endlessly
Vampire the masquerade lore in WoD 3rd and 4th editions are the best for me. Here, Dracula/Vlad Tepes, a Tzimisce vampire have lowered himself to a 5th gen methuselah. It even have a card game. Thanks to all the gents and ladies who contributed to the rich lore through the years. Mabuhay!
I know that Vampires are International. My favorite Vampire movies 1. Fright Night 1985 2. Fright Night 2 1988 3. Salems Lot 4. Werewolf Concerto 1992 5. Bram Stalkers Dracula 1992 6. Dracula Rising 1993 7. Subspecies 1991 8. Subspecies 3 Blood Lust 1995 9. Club Vampire 10. The Judas Challas 11. Howling VI 12. John Carpenters Vampires 13. Interview with the Vampire 1994 14. Van Hellsing 2004 15. Dracula Untold 2014
My favorite vampire 🦇 movie is Dracula with Bella Lagosi but my ultra favorite is Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein funniest movie ever... hilarious but another thing I like is Attack of the Vampire 🦇 featuring the Super Friends where Superman and the Wonder Twins get turned in vamps also Spiderman, Iceman and Firestar meet him both cartoons are great 👍
Johnathan Frid was the first to play the reluctant vampire in the TV series Dark Shadows from the late 1960's. People these days that Anne Rice came up with the idea, but that's not true. Frid played Barnabas Collins like a drug addict fighting an addiction, and in the late 60's that really gripped the audience.
A greater examination of vampiric beings from the mythology of different cultures would be fascinating - the blood drinking 'life thief' archetype is so widespread and also so influential across so many cultures that its significance from a socio-cultural anthropological standpoint is marked.
I'd like to see a video centered upon the Absalom mentioned in this take- African folklore in general is truly interesting and could do with more attention. Oh, and favorite vampire characters? Gotta say the main cast of What We Do In The Shadows tv series and film...
Not all vampires are adverse to holy objects, it all depends on the nature of the vampire. Undead vampires like the Strygoi and Jiangshi or demonic vampires like the Manananggal are affected by holy objects. But other vampires whose nature derives from mother nature are not affected even if they take a bath on a tub of holy water
In books, my favourite vampire books are Bram Stoker's Dracula, Stephen King's Salem's Lot, George RR Martin's Fevre Dream ans Simon Clarks Vamphyrric series, tv's Ultraviolet and The Stain, in film Nosferatu and BBC's 1977 Count Dracula. I would also like you to do indepth episodes of other culture's vampires, esp the Fillipino Mannangal.
One brief aspect is, I like the look of the flesh in unnatural light at night. It has a translucent glow that I haven't seen replicated in media. Yet indoors with unnatural light looks almost normal. In the sun is a different story altogether.

And Sarah from My Babysitter's a vampire And the family of vampires from Disney's The Little Vampire

Listen to them. Children of the night, what music they make.

VTM is a masterpiece but recently I found out that Sekhmet was actually a werewolf in the "world of darkness" universe which sounds terribly wrong in my opinion.
I started playing vampire the masquerade in the 90s and still do to this day. The world an the lore feels so loved in. It doesn’t get old.

great video, awesome way to start Halloween month. keep on the good content
My favorite vampires are from True Blood (with Eric Northman being my favorite character on that show), and The Originals (specifically Niklaus "Klaus" Mikaelson).
Whoa, a discussion on vampires that mentions Carmilla? That happens so rarely.
The good video to starting the haloween since this creature is basically common for male costume and witch for female costume
Loved the Anne Rice series of books including but not limited to "Interview with a Vampire". The "Mayfair Witches" was good too as well as "Lasher"
"A TRUE Leader lifts others up." - Vlad III Tepes.
Morbius from Spider-Man
Not to mention there was this old show called quantum leap where the protagonist Dr Sam Beckett leaped into the body of a vampire
@@sa1ntluke both the comic slash cartoon and the Morpheus movie
As far as quantum leap goes that's an entirely different thing entirely
Bram Stokers Dracula with Gary Oldman is my favorite 😍
I would love a video on a Jamaican mythological creature
Alucard from the Castlevania series. Son of Dracula, born of a human woman. Detests his dark nature and his father. Uses his powers to combat other creatures of the night. A very cool character. The runner-up would have to be Rudy Giuliani.
I like reading Anne Rice vampire books. Interview with the vampire was good as well as Lestat.
Great video, i wish we had one about the origins of vampires, lilith and meaby the first stories in the mytology. i like to see more about the other in the beginning of the video, shang chi and all the other, perhaps a video about vampires in asian and africa. stil great video, thanks.
Would like to see an episode on the chupacabra in the future.
I absolutely love vampires and am a goth girl I love this video 🧛🏻♀️
Yes, I would enjoy an Episode dedicated to one of these creatures.
Thank you for your work.
Towards the end of this video, i suddenly remembered the 2009 movie Daybreakers. The plot revolves around vampires sedating humans, & collecting their blood endlessly
The Lost Boys and Legacy of Kain are my favourites
My favorite vampire stories are from the Foresight Chronicles. Vampire children fighting Dracula with history as a backdrop.
This is perfect information on vampires. I wonder if Mona the Vampire might want to watch this to brush up on her Monster History?
Vampire the masquerade lore in WoD 3rd and 4th editions are the best for me. Here, Dracula/Vlad Tepes, a Tzimisce vampire have lowered himself to a 5th gen methuselah. It even have a card game. Thanks to all the gents and ladies who contributed to the rich lore through the years. Mabuhay!
My favorite vampires? Counts Strahd von Zarovich (D&D) and Sam Dracula (Munsters).
💛 all your video's bro👍especially this one because it's about #Vampires🧛♂️.
Being of a strong Irish heritage I'd be interested in learning more about the Irish Female Vampire called the Dearg-Due. 💋
I love anything about Vampires.
Yes I would love to see a full episode of vampiric creatures

My favorite vampire 🦇 movie is Dracula with Bella Lagosi but my ultra favorite is Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein funniest movie ever... hilarious but another thing I like is Attack of the Vampire 🦇 featuring the Super Friends where Superman and the Wonder Twins get turned in vamps also Spiderman, Iceman and Firestar meet him both cartoons are great 👍
I would absolutely love a full-length episode on any of these creatures. I'm Slavic and Native maybe one of their vampires?....
I always thought that if vampires were real, they would be like they are depicted in 30 Days of Night. That movie was truly terrifying to me.
Merci pour votre vidéo super sympa j'aime beaucoup
Anne Rice created some of the best Vampire brood of all time. Who can hold a candle to Lestat du Lincourt?
I agree on that one.
That was killer movie. No pun intended
4:11 That's the vampire from my grandpa's country of Poland
Johnathan Frid was the first to play the reluctant vampire in the TV series Dark Shadows from the late 1960's. People these days that Anne Rice came up with the idea, but that's not true. Frid played Barnabas Collins like a drug addict fighting an addiction, and in the late 60's that really gripped the audience.
I would like to see an in-depth narration of vampires and the cultural stories that brought about them.
A greater examination of vampiric beings from the mythology of different cultures would be fascinating - the blood drinking 'life thief' archetype is so widespread and also so influential across so many cultures that its significance from a socio-cultural anthropological standpoint is marked.
Gary Oldman made a perfect vampire. Bram Stoker made the story perfect, and the movie was my favorite
I'd like to see a video centered upon the Absalom mentioned in this take- African folklore in general is truly interesting and could do with more attention.
Oh, and favorite vampire characters? Gotta say the main cast of What We Do In The Shadows tv series and film...
Mine is Alucard from Hellsing
30 days of night lost boys and vampire in Brooklyn are my favorite vampire movies
Since I was a boy, the vampires were always the only classic monsters I was afraid of
Not all vampires are adverse to holy objects, it all depends on the nature of the vampire. Undead vampires like the Strygoi and Jiangshi or demonic vampires like the Manananggal are affected by holy objects. But other vampires whose nature derives from mother nature are not affected even if they take a bath on a tub of holy water
I would like to see a video about the dhampir half Human half vampire who hunts the vampires
Very interesting, good job.
Props for sneaking Strahd von Zarovich in there. 😄
The concept of draining the lifeforce from humans is what gave us the IRS.
As you wish!

One brief aspect is, I like the look of the flesh in unnatural light at night. It has a translucent glow that I haven't seen replicated in media. Yet indoors with unnatural light looks almost normal. In the sun is a different story altogether.
