❯❯ One of the major tools to diagnose and repair is the service information. In this presentation, Tony Salas, instructor, will discuss the importance of the use of service information. Key elements to know in the repair are the following:
A. Description and Operation- How is the powertrain assembled? Subsystems such as aftertreatment, are their drive cycles to perform? What components are used? Sensors and actuators.
B. Symptom Charts- Crank no start, no communication, charging system diagnostic charts, availability of basic and certain advanced diagnostic charts.
C. Repair of mechanical systems, replace a fuel pump, what are the procedures to follow.
D. Removal and installation- Are there certain components to remove for a replacement of a part? Are there procedures to follow when assembly of an engine part? Torque sequences to follow.
E. Technical Service Bulletins- Trying to repair and have not repaired? Cannot get rid of a derate condition? Numerous issues a diesel powertrain will have can be addressed with a possible update or a certain part to be replaced with new updated version.
