TECHNICAL WEBINAR by TONY SALAS - COMMON RAIL FUEL SYSTEMSEFFECTS OF FUEL AND ADDITIVES

❯❯ Common rail is extensively used in all type of diesel engines and used on various applications. For the most part, the mechanical or electro mechanical injection pump is becoming extinct in new applications. Common Rail (CR) Systems are not only allowing manufactures to meet emissions, but also provide better fuel economy and power.
❯❯ Tony Salas, instructor, will discuss his findings of the effects of fuel additives plus diesel fuel quality effects on the CR systems. He will review the operation of various CR systems and how they are tested on vehicle.
❯❯ Discussion will continue with changes in fuel such as LSD to ULSD (Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel). Sulfur content and its effects on fuel plus cetane values will be mentioned. Salas will emphasize the important of cleanliness and maintenance of the fuel supply and CR systems.
❯❯ Instruction will discuss the diagnosis of CR systems but focus on balancing rates and fuel trim to allow the technician on the commanded state of fueling. This training will show how engine issues, intake and exhaust issues will change the commanded fueling strategy.
❯❯ Longevity of a CR system will be shown by knowing the quality of fuel and use of proper additives which will aid in the life of a CR High pressure pump and CR injector will be identified. Those key components are a lubricant, cleaner and cetane improver. There will be mention of anti-gelling agents.
