  • Do you think these car mods are often overlooked? Or do you think they're overpriced and not worth it? I share my take on a few interior car mods that I believe are often overlooked, and can not only add some interior flair, but also change the driving experience of your car.
    Specially we're covering upgrading your steering wheel and your shift knob. I am huge fan of upgrading your interior to make it fit your style and driving experience. I opted for a weight shift knob from Raceseng, and currently have a Guardian Designs steering wheel on order. I cover some of these mods in my Fiat 124 Spider Abarth, and most these will also fit an ND Miata as they share a similar interior. Share your thoughts in the comments on these interior mods as they are relevant across all cars in general!

    I opted to go with replacing the OEM shift knob with the ND Ball shaped knob. So much nicer, more comfortable and matches the look seamlessly.

      Perfect 👌Before I got my Raceseng knob, that was an option as well. I prefer the rounder style compared to the one that comes with the factory Abarth. Wasn't a fan of the factory shift knob shape.

    Easy interior mod for you: Change out that always lit passenger airbag warning for a lit up abarth logo from mx5things...

      I need to do that too.

      On my list! Just gotta remember to order it...and that reminds me...I have the smoked out sequential turn signals that have been sitting around since beginning of the year lol I keep forgetting to install them.

    Raceseng makes excellent shift knobs. I have the Ashiko so I could put my custom spider design on it. They look good and they are weighted and, as Pasquale says, it really does shift easier and feel nicer.

      They do make quality items! I was shooting some photos of my friends WRX yesterday and he had the Ashiko...that thing is MASSIVE lol Probably slides into gear with the smallest touch.

    Boost gauge!!! Number one interior mod for this car!
    I really want that GuardianDesigns Corsa-D. I can’t decide on the standard thickness or the 120 mm GT version. I have small hands.

      After making this video I was like “damn, how did I forget to talk more about the boost gauge” 😂 And same boat here, I wasn’t sure which to go with as my hands are kinda on the smaller side I think lol I opted for the thicker GT version so I’ll let you know how it feels once I get it 👍

    I personally need to get the Guardians 330mm wheel, some matching shift/ebrake boots, install my Blackbird seat lowering brackets, add the 2019+ miata telescoping steering column, install the Suma side mirrors, and install the Paco Motorsports Bose upgrade speakers. I think that is it... for now. Oh, and a company called GRacing shifters has a really nice short shifter for the NC that just might fit our transmissions. The 124 transmission is just a variant of that NC transmission, after all. I wanted the CAE shifter, but it is over $1000 and that funky linkage means I would have to move or delete the sport mode button. I don't want to do that and the GRacing shifter is less than $400. It also has a much nicer and unique way of engaging reverse over the CAE.

      Just skimmed through a review on that item...looks nice! I've had normal short throw shifters on a few past cars. The CAE and that GRacing are definitely a more aggressive type of upgrade compared to a normal short throw shifter. For me I think i'll keep it stock for now as it feels pretty good. If you end up doing the GRacing shifter I definitely want to hear what you think about it!

    Did you go back down to Phase 1? I'm at 26 psi on my current tune and it seems like yours is peaking near 24

    • @DrivenDistrict
      @DrivenDistrict  3 роки тому

      No, same Phase 2 tune. Our cars seem to taper boost pretty quickly and most the pulls in this video start either above 4k rpm (which is already after peak boost), or I start lower but i'm not full throttle. Also the car will see higher boost in warmer weather. When I took the car out yesterday it was 95°F and I hit 28.x psi according to peak recall. Recently i've been seeing 27psi peak, and I need to be full throttle at 3k rpm or so for it to build and peak that. But I don’t go full throttle often at 3k rpm or lower though (unless I’m trying to datalog) because I would just downshift at that point.
      I just looked at one of my 4th gear pulls from last week (after recording this video & same tune) where I started going WOT below 3k rpm and between:
      3k-4k rpm I was 25-27psi
      4k-5k rpm 24-25psi
      and then the big fall off to 18-19psi by 6k rpm
      By redline around 6,500 or so I usually see it fall to 15-16psi.
      I've started to realize peak boost is not as important compared to how much it will hold up top on our cars, since the boost tapers off quite a bit up top. With that said, what tune do you have and what rpm do you see your peak 26psi? And what psi by 5k rpm for example?

    Have you consider doing the Apple CarPlay mod?

    • @DrivenDistrict
      @DrivenDistrict  3 роки тому

      Yes! I 100% want to do that eventually. I just need to read the guide (I think there's a good one on the forum) and familiarize myself with the process. I've heard it's a very in-depth and tedious process and there could be issues depending on what firmware you're on.
      Have you done it? If so, how long did it take and any specific parts needed?

    • @davidbattaglia2336
      @davidbattaglia2336 3 роки тому

      @@DrivenDistrict I want to, but have not done it. I don’t want to deal with the tedium. Plus, as I’ve aged, my reading eyesight has gotten weaker, so the opportunity to make errors increases.

    • @Chilicharger665

      I did the Carplay update in maybe 2 hours. It isn't tedious or hard at all. Do it.
