Yeah.... the reason I never got asked out, or so I was told! Bc I was not into that in 8th grade, my goodness! Forgive me for not being a lil trollop! Yeah, getting same vibes!
Yeah, I agree. As someone whose entire family is filled with alcoholics, I hate it when people (even people my own age older gen z) make fun of me for not drinking more than one drink at a function.
@@Haunted_Spirit-_- it's smart that you're being extra careful about drinking because addiction has a strong genetic component. I'm not saying you will be addicted for certain but you, as someone with known addiction in the family, are at higher risk and it's wise to be cautious. Addiction can also go unnoticed for a long time by everyone, including the addict, so it's easy to fall into addiction and not notice. Stay safe out there
@@ghoulsystem Of course! It's something that both my sister and I watch out for and are careful about. I appreciate the kind words, and I hope you stay safe as well.
@@Haunted_Spirit-_- same, I grew up with an alcoholic dad and other members of my family, and it's not like they did anything weird or disgusting, they were always chill but I always hated the smell of alcohol and as someone who also decided to drink underage for a bit bc everyone else did it and it made me miserable, honestly I'll never understand why people think it's cool to destroy your health
A girl in my Spanish class brought vodka to school in her water bottle last year, she ended up getting seriously injured after falling down some very high stairs while drunk. And she had to go to Juvie for like half of the year. Underage drinking should NOT be so openly encouraged
Two years ago, my friend's friend brought weed brownies to school and shared them with her friends (who didn't know that there was weed in the brownies) and all three went to the hospital. :|
@ville__dude please get help, don’t put that out there to encourage young impressionable people to do the same, I hope you have someone who is there who cares
Your right under age drinking should never be encouraged, gen millennial here and trust me it was very very dangerous for young kids, we was like 13/14 and drinking vodka straight, I can’t do that as an adult and rarity that I drink now. Kids need to be kids there needs to be a line drawn, things to easy for kids to access. I think the damage to their developing brain from what they see on social media and so much focus on being hot and shaming those who don’t fit the beauty standards.. for young kids worry about their weight, their everything about themselves. Every mistake filmed it must be hard to be a kid growing up just now
Why do these people act like it’s a bad thing that teens are choosing to prioritize their health and safety? Like, what were all those anti drug and alcohol campaigns for then????
HONESTLY!! We had to live with the problems and repercussions of other people’s drug and alcohol use so we decided “no thanks” and now they’re like “why aren’t you doing this?” I don’t know, maybe because we’ve seen what it did to families and decided we weren’t going to do the same Were they expecting us to see the anti drug and alcohol campaigns and go “oh my gosh, I NEED to do that! Someone find me some, I want to try!🤩” or…? Because if so, that’s the opposite of what those campaigns should be doing; if they’re not discouraging drug and alcohol use, that’s BAD
Not just that, but Gen Z grew up with the dangers of spiked drinks, Uber abductions, clubs being targeted in attacks, and trafficking rings right in their faces due to the constant news reports on their phones. Sneaking out to go to the bar at night? You might go missing and you didn't tell your parents where you were going so you won't be found. Gen Z is hyperaware of the risks
@@Lycaon1765This is it low-key. Their just salty that on average we are more capable at our age range then they were. Most of us are early, mid twenties and our lives aren't already fucked over by substance abuse.
All I remember from back then was taking too many No-Doze and a couple kids taking acid....no booze. Oh, wait- a couple of Bartles and James wine coolers- LOL!
I call BS, my brother and his friends took vodka to school, he's currently 53. I'm in my 40s and followed suit. As did most of the people I went to school with.
To all y’all high schoolers with your little lattes from Starbucks: *Please* keep drinking your little lattes from Starbucks. In my experience, alcohol tends to be more trouble than it’s worth (and the younger you are, the more trouble it is.) Addiction is UGLY. Also can we please stop calling them Gen Alpha and just call them gen a since we CLEARLY can’t be normal about that word. Please.
Gen Z here my parents encourage me not to have much caffeine or sugar but it’s good to have some every now and then. I personally don’t like coffee which has lots of caffeine. I prefer tea 🫖
I told myself I wouldn't drink alcohol/alcoholic beverages after learning that my dad and grandma/his mom were alcoholics (both now sober for a long time!). The risk is there and I don't feel the need to take it haha
Gen X were wild kids who turned into helicopter parents. They knew what kids got up to and were determined to suffocate their kids so much, they wouldn't be able to get into the same trouble. Most people in my age group I know (I'm 25) were not allowed to go many places alone. Gen X brags about all the things their parents let them do, then restricts their kids to the home and cracks down hard on any misbehavior. And then they have the audacity to make fun of their kid's generation for not being troublemakers.
Thats what I dont get. My mom was like that because she probably wised up and realized "hey maybe letting your kid go and do whatever with 0 supervision MIGHT get her murdered" but there was really no need for such a short leash. Maybe the reason gen z is "full of pussies" is because y'all dont let us make our own choices
Wild. My experience has differed a lot, since I’m Gen z with boomer parents and millennial siblings, Lmao-and my friend with a Gen X parent grew up with a single mother who was pretty emotionally neglectful. So their experience was more being alone a lot and getting out of the house. (They’ve been safe and not too wild tho) But ya, this is a wild trend, glad ai avoided it.
I know right! And what's crazy is that it'll become an endless loop over generation. Gen Z, being raised by helicopter parents, is going to feel bad that they were restricted so much, and they'll let their children, probably the generation after Gen A, be very freeing, who will then turn into Gen X. It's just a constant loop of restriction and too much freedom.
YES. THIS EXACTLY.MY MOTHER ACTUALLY WEARS THE HELICOPTER BADGE *PROUDLY.* she has even straight up on multiple occasions told me that i will be raped, killed, tortured, kidnapped, etc if i so much as go somewhere without her or my father with me, let alone by myself. i was never allowed to leave the house, even to play in the neighborhood or outside, on my own as a kid. i wasn't allowed to be left home alone until i was SIXTEEN. and then she wonders why i never want to do anything fun other than play games and talk to people online on my computer. its literally the ONLY freedom ive EVER HAD.
Do they realise… none of us care..? > In case I need to specify, I am using "they" to talk about the people featured in this video. "They" isn't talking about Millenials as a whole. Please don't argue about this in the replies.
@@mikkihesson3509 I said they because it’s more than one person speaking in the video. I’m saying the people in the video always yap. Is it that hard to understand lol
I was born in 1991 and did all this sleeping in makeup bc I was trashed, drinking issues and coke at 15+, I always feel so proud of my nieces and cousins in gen z/a for doing so much better than I did. I was severely depressed untreated adhd and struggled deeply. why would I want that for anyone?? so proud of the kids growing up learning and taking good care of themselves. you get one body, love it
My mum told me she used to go clubbing at sixteen. I was like: “And your parents….they weren’t bothered?” And she replied with: “They did the same thing at that age.” However, my mum has always STRONGLY encouraged me and my brother not to do drugs, drink underage or smoke/vape. She’s GenX by the way. TEACH KIDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE
Well back then human trafficking wasn't as bad as it is now in clubs. But fr those under 18-21 shouldn't drink. (I put 18 because where I'm from which isn't the US the legal drinking age is 18)
Yep, my mother is one of the older millennials, and she doesn't even know this "battle" is even a thing. As Gen Z child of a millenial, if it wasn't for Haylo, I wouldn't have known of it either, lmao!!
It shouldn't even be a battle, it should be coming together and recognising the mistakes made by the older generations and the things they did better that we've lost and strive for our kids to live a better life than we did rather than projecting our issues onto the next generation.
My mom is gen x, and as a result I was never allowed to go out as a teen! Because my mom “knew what I was really doing” because “she did the same shit” so there’s that too
Exactly. I’m 15 and out of curiousity I drank for the first time last month. I drank a whole bottle in bursts, It tasted awful, and all I did while drunk was cry in the shower. 0/10 would not recommend
I was bullied by my own peers for following the law. It’s like my parents pestering me about doing good in school because I didn’t huff DDT or something
My dad's a boomer, born in 1964. He did pretty much every drug to have existed at the time during his high school years (and maybe a little after, admittedly). Does he shame us (his kids) or anyone else for not doing the same? No. He actively warns against the consequences and risks of doing drugs, especially at a young age. He talks openly about the toll it took on both his physical and mental health. It is the responsibility of the older generations to teach and nurture the younger generations so that they don't repeat the same mistakes and can improve through their experiences. Older generations should take pride that the younger ones are doing better and thriving, instead of being bitter and standoffish.
Gen x is unhealthily obsessed with drinking. I know a guy from that generation whose "solution" to everything is "just go for a drink at the bar". I literally had a headache the other day and he said "oh, go get drunk, you wont notice it if youre drunk." I think he needs professional help.
@@Itz_JayLynn his friends sound like alcoholics who need "justification", so they aren't "drinking alone" and don't REALLY have a problem. I know the type.
I for one rarely drank when I was a teenager and still don’t. Not all Gen X were alcoholics. Most of us were just normal teenagers worried about hair, makeup, wardrobe and what we were going to do during the weekend.
8:04 the oldest gen z in their 20s… some of them also were on myspace, had flip phones, existed before iphones, used video tapes etc… like they’re forgetting not all of us are teens??
I dunno...Myspace fizzled out around 2007 or so - the same time the first iPhone debuted. The oldest GenZ would've been about 10 at the time, so they might have remembered those things but not really used them.
As a millennial, I'm thinking millennials are the problem. They blame the boomers for everything, now they are attacking gen z. Makes us look like we're all insane.
They have nothing better to do since most of them are Bitter Betty's, Negative Nancy's, and Know it All Kevin's. Maybe they like paying their Internet bills that often because bringing people down on the internet is their favorite hobby. (Sarcasm)
I am a gen alpha. Other gen alphas around me are completely normal just like me. My mom always complains about how I am always on my phone. I always put my phone down at a restaurant to talk to my family and OH MY GOD! The millennials are the ones who look at their phones at the restaurant!! And then she complains when I open my phone to respond to my friend. My mom is a millennial and when I told her I will never start drinking when I am an adult she said "We'll see about that." Like Bro- No I'm not gonna be an alcoholic like you mama 🤨
if you hear applause - that's me. for the love of everything stay this way. i'm old gen z and my mother is an alcoholic too. i don't drink, or smoke. honestly waste of money. i better buy myself new plush or something else i like. doesn't cause health issues, pretty, cute, comforting. plushies >>>>> alcohol
Reasons why we can’t go out secretly: AirTags, Better house security, Trackers, phones. Reasons why we don’t do stuff like they did: We know better, and our parents raised us better.
Yup. I've lived in North Carolina my whole life, and it was maybe a 40:60 split between coffee or a jumbo iced tea (which had a slight advantage because places with good tea also had good biscuits)!
It’s very concerning how the Junior High in my school district had to ban water bottles because literal CHILDREN were sneaking alcohol into school, like… WTF?? I’m a Junior in High School, and I’m genuinely terrified of how many people I know who drink and smoke excessively. It’s to the point where every hallway and bathroom in my building always smells like weed and smoke. It’s disgusting.
Gen x-er here, the girls i knew that drank at school did so as a trauma response to abuse situations. Self medicating. So if teens now don't feel the need to do that, that's awesome
Silly, silly manager!! So much to do, so much to see, but drugs and alcohol is not for me!! I enjoy (insert your favorite activity/pastime) for fun!! I bet that ruffled your feathers!! 😁👏🏻🥳🎉 Manager: 😱 what? No way!
bro growing up my mom wouldn't even let me drink COFFEE let alone sodas with caffeine in it. She said that she doesn't want us (i have 5 other siblings) to get addicted to caffeine like how she was to alcohol when she was 16.
My mom was the same when I was growing up but the only exception was that sometimes she would let me have a sip of her coffee once in a while or I'll drink soda if we were at a birthday party and they had soda but I didn't quite like the fizz so I usually went for the caprisuns
I don’t think it’s the same level of risk tho. You can be addicted to both caffeine and alcohol at a similar level BUT the symptoms or level of craving for caffeine is very minor compared to the alcohol version of it. Feeling funny or headaches without caffeine is nothing compared to the spiral you will go through by alcohol addiction.
@@ClaraKay-du1hnright! also i’ve been drinking coffee since i was 10 and honestly… no severe side effects? i could quit if i wanted to (and have gone weeks without coffee no problem). meanwhile my mom smoked a single cigarette as a teen and has never managed to kick the habit no matter how hard she’s tried.
its a GOOD thing that these kids are drinking in their parents garage. that means their parents trust them, and it means theyre safe if anything does happen to go awry, because there's a capable, sober, legal adult there to handle any problems. let's be hoenst: teens LOVE to rebel. and thats a great, amazing thing!! but, drinking as rebellion is dangerous. i think, by making it permissible for them to occassionally drink, it'll make drinking as rebellion feel BORING, and theyre less likely to run off and do it in secret.
my mom never told me that something was a NO except piercings (i asked for them a lot). well guess what i did the moment i turned 18 lol. all my rebellion ever was are my piercings and dyed hair (i'm 26 now). my mom obviously NEVER wanted me to smoke or drink, but she wasn't vocal about it. and here is my sober ass with piercing and colored hair :) honestly glad my mom took this approach, since i have addictive personality due to my mom being an alcoholic (it got worse in my late teenage years) and some relatives as well, so it's in my genes
@@6nomemory6 Addiction runs in my family for several generations on both sides, so my mom has always been adamant that I never drink or do drugs like her. Probably the only really good advice she's ever given me. Somehow, me and all of my siblings are pretty well off in the sense of addiction, though I'd argue that one of my brothers is addicted to food, because that does count in my eyes. You can be addicted to literally anything, but I guess it's better than alcohol. I used to be addicted to caffeine but haven't been able to enjoy any caffeinated drinks for like half a year because everything sweet suddenly tastes really bad to me. I think the thing that has kept me and my brothers from even touching alcohol has been the examples in our lives. The bad examples specifically. I refuse to turn out like my mom. I also just don't see the appeal. I tried vaping, it was boring. I tasted beer once, and it was horrible. I tasted a drink my friend got and it was eh. I tried edibles, and I hated how it made me feel. I tried just for the sake of knowing, and once I knew, I was uninterested.
Exactly, alcohol wasn’t some big “omg so cool” it was “hey we made the pasta sauce with this wine you want a glass with dinner” or on holidays I was allowed to have a couple drinks, or if we were having a movie night sometimes I’d get a small glass of whatever my parents were drinking. I’m now 21 and it’s more “oh cool I can get what I want if I want to” or if I go to a restaurant and see a neat sounding drink I can try it. I think if more parents were less “omg never drink ever” etc. there would be less problems overall. Plus if the parent is more chill their kid is more likely to call for a ride if they have problems instead of driving home drunk. Like yeah it’ll be embarrassing potentially but the kid won’t be terrified of their parent being super upset
This is so true, when I was 13 I got curious and my mom let me try a little bit of alcohol and that was it. No big deal made about it and I was in a safe environment. I’ve never had alcohol since because it was no longer appealing/tempting after I experienced it (which is good since I have an addictive personality). If alcohol is strictly forbidden it just makes it more tempting, which leads teens to more dangerous situations. I’m glad my mom handled it the way she did.
It's the same for every generation! You can't drink at school. Everyone tries, and most of them fail or get embarrassed miserably and have to change schools. This is just peaked in high school behavior
I think millenials hate gen Z because they feel like they don't have an identity of their own while Gen Z has very strong identities that they are very secure in. They want to feel important so they try to exclude others to make themselves feel unique. It's honestly kind of sad.
As a millennial who struggled with alcohol addiction and has been sober for over 2 years now, good on Gen Z. Alcoholism is no joke, and it’s not taken seriously enough. And unlike addiction to other substances like cocaine, meth or heroin, you can just walk into a gas station and buy beer or liquor if you’re having a craving for a drink. That makes it much harder to quit.
Exactly that! Alcohol is extremely addictive, to add onto it one of the most common and easily to obtain ones. It's socially accepted and if you're not drinking people will sometimes judge you for it.
Yup. Easy to obtain, not to mention easy to hide- as long as you put in enough mixer to mask the smell. I'm two months sober and embarrassed to know that.
First off, congratulations on 2 years sober!🎉 Also, I'm also a millennial and I agree. I never understood why so many people think drinking is a flex, and they make it this big occasion to have a drink as soon as they turn legal (where I live, that's 19).
I'm a younger millennial in recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction. I have met so many Gen Z who don't smoke or drink at all, and it is so wonderful and refreshing to see.
I was raised by a family of drug addicts and alcoholics. I have a lifelong goal of a prohibition on any drug regardless. People get surprised by this fact and continuously try to get me to do things as if I'm just afraid too. I am not, I just don't want too.
I'm a child of alcoholics and when I was in school I was very against it and my bullies who drank thought I was scared and were always saying that they wanted to "live their lives to the fullest cause you never know what could happen" and I remember thinking that it must be really sad if they find drinking in the middle of a field and vomiting violently at the end of the night is living your life to the fullest
child of alcoholic with step dad in my childhood as an alcoholic as well. i drank under 20 cocktails in my life and i refuse to drink them ever again. i noticed i have addictive personality (makes sense) and i don't touch anything like that with a 10 feet pole anymore. nu-uh. even if i notice i start to spend too much money on one specific thing - my brain makes me SO GUILTY for it that i snap out of it really fast. all because - i don't want to end up the same. my mom in public looks like she never drinks, and when people compare us (like a lot of daughters and mothers) - it's an insult. i'm no saint but that's one thing i do not want to be even remotely close to
That’s horrible people feel the need to get you to do it! I don’t have a good view on alcohol/drugs, but if you’re gunna do it, do it YOURSELF and don’t pressure or suggest it to others. Let them be.
I saw your community post about the tech issues and at the end you said something like " haters are right , i hate listening to my self" and i relate SO MUCH to that. I was told my whole life that i talk too loud and blah blah so now i talk VERY soft and people can never hear me. I LOVE YOUR VOICE because its LOUD and refreshing. You seem like such an awesome friend and I hope your friends cherish you 💗
Even Millennials who are non-drinkers. I didn't have a drink when I turned legal because, honestly, I didn't want to. Now I'm 31 and still get the occasional jab for it.
@@ngarcia103Currently 21 and my dad keeps trying to get me to drink or at least try it and I keep telling him no. But he just won’t leave me alone about it. It’s so irritating. He’s like ‘You need to try it at least once and also loose up for once’ I don’t want to try it so leave me alone about it. I’m an adult now and have made that decision. I’m sticking by it!
It's also sad that when (as a millennial myself) I was a teen/young adult going in to the doctor for check ups that whenever I was asked if I drank the doctor or nurses doing triage always looked at me funny like I was little liar when I said No. Kept asking the same question in round about ways badgering. Like, no dude not every teenager or 18-22 year old is a raging alcoholic or cat in heat, mkay?
They make it seem as though they would jump for joy if their kids ever did the same things they did in high school. Gen X grew up to be overprotective parents for a reason.
These generational things are so weird because a millennial can be in their 20’s or their 40’s and did completely different things during their teen years lol.
Exactly like ALL the other Generations, there’s a BIG age gap! Technically I’m a “Boomer” but I’m so far on the edge of it that “WE” the “BABY” of the Baby Boomers are called “Generation Jones”✌🏻
As a teen who’s genuinely struggled/struggling with substance abuse issues, mainly alcohol, seeing these grown adults flexing this and shaming us for NOT doing this is so sad, not to mention triggering. It’s such a sad thing to see people being proud about their issues, and trying to form them on other people. Not to mention all the easily influenced children that this is harming. Alcoholism is not fun, not trendy, and definitely something that you should get help with. It flicking sucks, and if you haven’t been through this, trust me, you never want to, especially at such a young age.
I'm a millenial (born in 95) and I think it's great you stray away from underage drinking. I thought it was messed up how soon my peers started getting drunk when I was a teen (some even as soon as 12/13)and I still think so now. It also wasn't cute when some of my collegues in uni came into class still smelling of alcohol from previous night out yikes.
I am a millenial, and I agree with everything you're saying. The frequency of which I have to say "Go back to sleep grandpa. Let the kids enjoy their rock music and their fortnights" to people my age (and sometimes younger than me) is staggering.
And I was told to unalive myself and get graped on reddit 💀 That was on Ao3 subreddit community. -luckily I was unaffected, I was just surprised to ever get a hate comment because most of the time it's my narcissistic mom that is the most devastating abuse I had to go through since childhood. And yes, being narcissistic abused is telling someone I just recovered from a battlefield compared to SA. Though I wasn't safe from emotional grooming-
I'm a gen z and through out my years of high school I NEVER EVER saw anyone bring alcohol all we had was school fights, kids smoking in the bathroom and many more other incidents Man these adults are crazy for wanting us to drink HELL NO
I'd argue that smoking is just as damaging but yeah, it's absurd that older gens (who should now be wisened adults) are encouraging the younkers to partake in the same destructive habits
I witnessed three fights play out from middle school to high school, I think. The first one was stopped early. A boy simply got up from his seat and approached this other boy during class, IN FRONT OF THE TEACHER, and punched that boy in the clavicle. It was insane. The boy who got beat up didn't respond because he saw that the teacher was coming over to break the fight. I think the second fight was in high school. But I didn't care. I just thought "They're animals" and went on about my day. And then there was the third. It was between our class periods. I thought the same thing but that one stood up because that same day, I heard my classmates and teacher talk about it. And I remember my teacher said "Yeah. I saw it. I didn't really care about it. Not my business but as soon as the third guy joined in, I had to stop it. You may fight but it shall be fair" Curiously, I do remember the third guy joining in because it was hilarious. He jumped out of nowhere, literally jumped into the fight, with his fist high, ready to hit one guy on the head, and he did. At that moment I was done, so I didn't see my teacher breaking up the fight.
@@mariannaortiz2426 wow that's crazy my school we had lots of fights during my senior year but that's not even the craziest thing we had much worse we had 3 deaths one in freshman year, and two senior year
I’m so tired of the generational wars we have. So so tired of them. I’m 28 and I’ve started deleting friends when they share the weird age war shit. Sure the youth can make fun of our socks or how we part our hair or whatever. That’s just kinda what young people do. That’s what we did when we were young. But we have a choice as adults to act better than the adults we had to deal with. If we want this next generation to be better the best thing we can ever do is help them. Guide them. Treat them with the kindness and respect we did not get. Shittinf on gen alpha and gen z will not get you anything. Helping them rise up out of the hardships they went through with modern tech and the pandemic has the opportunity to change out future
i'm gen-z and imma wear whatever tf i want loud and proud lmao. gimme my skinny jeans and ankle socks. idgaf, i'm too old to care about what people gonna think when all i do is wear clothes
I’m actually proud of the younger generation being more cautious and giving more forethought to their lives, for the most part. I was like this as a kid/teen, and I was made fun of for it. I’m glad it’s become mainstream to not destroy your body (or at least try not to).
7:23 safe spaces do exist but using that against us is disgusting. They are made to help people who arent feeling well or neurodivergent people. It can help to calm down or when someone feels overstimulated/overwhelmed. Sometimes its a place someone make or an account that posts certain things to help.
Literally! Making fun of safe spaces is basically ableist. I'm autistic and they are actually very helpful. I'm not the type of person who can just "suck it up". I need breaks or else I'll have a panic attack! (And they make fun of that too)
Just in case anyone needs to see it, this millennial is proud of every gen Z who hasn't managed to develop alcoholism or some other substance abuse! Love you guys, you're doing great. Let us cling together in fear of gen alpha and their skibidi lingo
Older Gen Z here. I find Gen Alpha and their slang kinda silly although I'm greatful for my cousin who is an older Gen Alpha and doesn't use "Skibidi", "Fanum Tax", "Rizz", "Sigma", and etc in everything that he says. His parents would probably scold him for saying those, considering our Asian culture and households. Allow children to be silly and free. Teach them for the good. Hope for the best in them.
Our generation is the parents of gen Alpha. Why the f-ck are you calling for adults and late teens to band together against literal kids, kids of our generation, is beyond me. Gen Z isn't going to love you, you come across as a tryhard.
@@Killjoy_Mel What part of 'cling together in fear' equates to 'calling for adults and late teens to band together AGAINST' anyone?? Both generations can appreciate how alien and strange gen alpha lingo is - that's it. If you immediately interpreted that as a hostile call to action, that's on you bub.
Please, don't let those pathetic, pick-me-energy bullies represent us! I As an "elder millennial" I'm feeling second hand embarrassment for these people almost to the point of physical pain. Like, find better uses of time and energy than attempting to insult the younger people you should be settling a positive example for!
We don't have to be embarrassed about Gen X ! They really were feral, just like they said they were. Don't worry about if feral wild people think that anyone is cool. She didn't just peak "in high school", she "peaked" at like, 15.
It sounds like most of the people posting these are actually Gen X. Whichever generation it is, hopefully it's really only the few people sharing on TikTok. Groups of people seem to be overrepresented on social media, especially if they have accounts on multiple websites.
and plus, there is literally an old myspace clone that YOUNGER gen z is using!!! it’s called spacehey and it’s really popular in alternative fashion communities (mostly with the scene/emo kids) and with kids who are interested in old web/tech.
There isn't a person in this world that didn't tell themselves at 17 years old that they are 'so much more mature than those grownups'. I guess it's a part of being 17. The fact that you even care about identifying yourself as 'more mature than those 'grown ups' tells me that you've still got a lot of growing to do. Which is as it should be, to be honest. Acting holier than thou and grossly overestimating your own level of maturity are some of the hard lessons every well-adjusted adult should go through in their teens.
As someone who works with troubled teens who struggle with substance abuse, it makes me sick that older generations are glamorizing and encouraging this sort of behavior while making fun of kids who don't partake in this kind of stuff. It should DEFINITELY NOT be normalized!
as a gen Z, i was told my entire life to never drink or smoke (my family has a long history of addiction) and now im just like every previous generation of my bloodline, sneaking out of the house to drink, stealing alcohol from my parents, etc. dont make that mistake. it sucks, let me tell you. i cant even walk past restaurants with drink ads now without breaking into a cold sweat. so to all my fellow teenagers, do what i never did and stay sober.
As a gen Z still in high school I can say that they go to lengths to teach us (at least here in australia) that alcohol has its downsides and honestly is really helpful because I do think it has influenced me to not go crazy on alcohol once im 18. And why aren't we trying to HELP the younger generation, all these millennials are so obsessed with Gen Z instead of helping them learn from their mistakes. Anyways, love you Hayley!!!
Crabs in a bucket. Gotta drag down whoever they can because they feel left out, obsolete (or they're angry that you guys didn't pickle your livers.) I stopped everything in my early 30s because it just wasn't fun, knowing that the younger generation aren't acting the same is a huge relief and I'm glad our school system is doing more. It was pretty half arsed when I was in school, the focus was more on hard drugs.
I hate this type of alcohol obsession with a passion. I work at a sports arena that also has concerts. Good grief the amount of mess that we have to deal with due to alcohol. Watching so many people basically ruin their experiences due to overdrinking is horrible. Folks not being allowed in the building due to already being drunk, getting wheeled out by medics after getting too sick in the bathrooms to move. Hell, I've had to help half carry folks out of their sections due to them getting so wasted. It's not cool. It's sad to watch.
I'm a millenial that doesn't drink. At social gatherings I ALWAYS had to explain myself and got pushed to try the taste "we want to see you drunk" I always said drinking is the only accepted norm. Glad to see that changing. PS never gave in: It's a priciple and I hated that burning alcoholly taste
I respect you but I don't believe you at the same time. I've never met a Gen X who's never been so unreasonably judgemental towards younger generations. But good for you, I guess.
“ha i brought vodka to school” weird way to call yourself an alcoholic.. it’s not a flex and i’m an alcoholic and almost 17 it’s horrible and a gross addiction and i wouldn’t wish alcoholism on anyone and these ADULTS pressuring kids to drink is horrifying
I didn't realize I was such a booze hound at only 17 until all my favorite stories started with "we were drinking when..." I wouldn't be encouraging kids to do it and my stories aren't even good. I was getting trashed to escape how ignored I felt.
Saying as a gen z who drank TOO MUCH when underage, this literally fucked up my health, physically AND mentally. Now my tolerance is super high in a DANGEROUS way, I never learned how to control my alcohol intake, cause when my little brain was developing I put stuff who mess up with the happy hormone receptors and now I have a substance problem before hitting the 30's
A safe space as it's used my actual genz in my experience is literally just a community that is nice and welcoming and not mean. Is that too much to these people???
As a millennial who doesn't drink alcohol and got the weird looks and the peer pressure to drink despite explaining my reasons why I don't drink and repeatedly disrespected, I see that it's a good thing that they won't have to experience people forcing drinking when they don't want to during parties/events
I'm one of those millennials who drank on football fields and lied to my parents about where I was but when i look at my teenage family members, I'm so proud of them for not doing that dumb stuff. We put ourselves in some sketchy situations. Who the hell was drinking booze at school though!?
As an auntie who is a millennial, I'm glad for those of y'all who can cope without drugs. I hope you can manage to keep it that way, though it's getting harder by the hour.❤
Firstly, as an older Gen Z (decently above 21), I drink OCCASIONALLY and not in professional settings. Secondly, I grew up hearing nothing but "alcohol is bad and if you drink, drink responsibly," from these same people - including my mother, who has since had no problem with my sister drinking underage... The same person who told me not to get mental health medications because I'd be "addicted to them." What are these people doing???
@@HoldingOn-kd8ib I mean in the sense she's against any of them at all and referring to them being used properly as well. Some people legitimately need them. Having to constantly guess whether or not you're hallucinating so you're not seen as "crazy" by the same person was never fun, especially when said guessing was wrong.
I (44) was just telling my son (22) the other day that they were better than we were. All because we did the vodka water bottles and put ourselves in such dangerous situations. He brought up the bullying that they experience and I told him that year some of us (me) were relentlessly bullied but we could at least get away from it. Now I was told by my high school VP that I would never amount to anything and that I should just quit at the beginning of my senior year. So I was even bullied by the Administration at my high school. After all the bullying I experienced and was dealing with undiagnosed ADHD that just sent me over the edge and I walked out that day. I am proud that my kids all made better choices than I did. They all graduated high school with my oldest (25) having a degree as a Veterinary Assistant. I did get my GED in 2004 and am pursuing my Bachelor's in behavioral Health Science and then my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Therapy. I am planning on adding on my graduation cap "Does it look like I amounted to nothing?" or something along those lines. I am proud of Gen Z for making better choices and choosing a better path than we did.
I'm a Millenial parent with a Gen Z kid and I'm SO FRIGGIN HAPPY my son isn't doing the dumb shit I was doing when I was his age. This generation is making me proud with the aversion to alcohol and drugs.
As a Millennial, I'm not mad honestly. As someone who struggled with alcohol and drugs, it makes me angry and annoyed how my generation and older generations sensationalize drinking and drugs. They are so dangerous and its really nice to see that younger generations are concerned with their health and finding other ways to socialize that doesnt involve poisoning themselves. Personally I did not start drinking until my early 20's, and it RUINED the small amount of in person collage time I had. I'm not saying my experience is the same as everyone else's, my brain was a SPONGE for anything that relaxed it, and im sure people my age had a "normal" experience with drinking and drugs, but no one is above addiction and that fact is what makes it so unhealthy. Applause to Gen Z (and anyone else) for finding the joys in life sober.
I find it weird though that some of them despite teetholaleers or those who drinks more moderately. On reddit I have seen those takes or twitter like conflating with being dishonest untrustworthy or phschopathetic. Which is strange because psychopath are born this way. I do not understand that kind of mindset. My country does not care if you drink or not, they do not care what you do in your sex life or if you drink or not. More weirdly is to attack younger generations for it like it going magically makes you special or solve whatever trial you are passing through. Explícame eso bien porque esa vaina está ramito sabes?
i’m 24 and the times i’ve looked back on how my peers and myself had acted in highschool it’s scares me. kids selling their prescribed adderall, buying and selling vapes, hitting thc carts before class, and finding random pills spilled in the stairwell to name a few. we were uneducated “rebellious”(in a non productive way) kids. some have gotten out but there’s still a handful who struggle with substance abuse. the people who are stuck in their “good ol days” are really out of touch.
Yes! I’m 25 and I remember these things vividly. I don’t think Gen X or millennials realize that just because Gen Z weren’t drinking at school doesn’t mean we were straight edge either. Half the people at my high school showed up stoned, on xans, or on adderal. And almost everyone had a vape. Now that I have a sister in high school it makes me happy that she’s straight edge because the things I did in high school were the reason why I vaped, drank, and smoked pot religiously for 10 years. Only stopped because I had babies!
Regarding the beer pong thing, I’ve seen it played where there’s water in the solo cups instead and if you land it in a cup you take a drink from one you have off to the side! Prevents beer from being wasted/a mess if any of the cups get knocked over.
Yeah I’ve never seen beer pong played with actual beer. Tbh I don’t want to play the actual version bc I don’t want to drink a beer that had a dirty ball in it
I’m a millennial, born in 1989. During my middle school/ high school years the majority of the kids was obsessed with partying, getting drunk etc. to the point I was afraid of them. Their stories about what happened at the party, how drunk everyone got and who almost ended up in the hospital were cringy and scary at the same time. Even my parents didn’t believe me when I told them what my classmates are like. Call me stiff, boring, weird or whatever, I never wanted anything to do with that stuff. I’m 35 and I still don’t drink alcohol, I just never learnt to enjoy it. I’m happy the new generations are so different from what I grew up with.
You're not at fault for your surroundings and you don't need to apologize for your generation's behalf. The older generations had failed to do something that is useful and beneficial for your well being. But I will do my best to make things easier for you guys, no worries.
This kinda reminds me when people mock Americans for having legal age of drinking/having their first alcoholic drink at 21 and say "suckers, here in **insert any country** kids get drunk on vodka at 14" like, that's not a flex and it's far from being the norm, I'm from Spain and I've met like 2 or 3 people that started drinking that young, and surprise!, they're now living a shitty ass life because they spent their adolescence going to parties and getting high/drunk, it's not a flex being an alcoholic at 15 :/
I mean, it sounds like lowering the drinking age worked on the majority of spanish teenagers. If you make alcohol a mundane thing, drinking is no longer an act of rebellion so they don't abuse it.
No but it is absolutely weird for the US to have such a high drinking age. Actually, the whole thing around alcohol in America is weird. Where I live, when you’re a teenager, your parents give you a glass of wine here and there during parties. When we get to the legal drinking age, alcohol isn’t the cool, formerly forbidden thing we all want to try as fast as we can. It’s just alcohol.
@books2438 What I found weird it's that you can buy a gun or serve the military at 18, but you're not old enough to drink. But since your brain keeps developing until 25 I don't think it's something bad. But yeah, it only makes people overhype drinking in the end
@@Zoe.m.yet the ones I’ve come across don’t make that argument, they just brag that they can do it at a young age…not because it lowers rebellion appeal
@@books2438do you need to try alcohol at a young age to find it less appealing in the future? Or is there more to it that can lower appeal? Just a genuine question btw. Because I feel that some may fear that if you treat it like it’s completely nothing (or like it’s just a drink like any other) it can enable people to drink it not because they feel rebellion but because they believe it’s not a big deal and if you completely forbid it and restrict it, it can cause rebellion and risk an addiction. I guess thats where education comes in, don’t make laws too strict but don’t downplay the much harm it can have.
Maybe Gen Z has seen how drunk our parents get and the side effects of being drunk and Gen Z doesn't want that to happen when we eventually have children
I'm a mid-90's millennial and i'm proud to say i live a straight edge lifestyle and have always been this way. I do not get why somebody would want to smoke or drink, because it is more harmful to the body than soft drink ever will be. I also do not get why they think they have a non-existent right to tell people what to do with their lives, and that's pretty much as pathetic as someone can get. The fact that they are losing their minds because someone wants to live a healthier life is beyond ridiculous. I mean, we only live once. So, do the best you can to look after your body, because there are NO second chances here.
The harm to the body is part of the charm. Sad and self-destructive charm, but people cope the only way they know how. You cope by staying sober and passing judgment, and others complain by imbibing and reveling in the negative feelings it creates. You're still both the same: arseholes.

Nah, Millenials think having a hobby isn’t an “adult” thing, hence why they prefer to rage on Gen Z instead 🤓
Or life....
In my middle school in 6th grade you were only popular if you self-harmed and shiwed it off.... HOW CRAZY IS THAT

@@Haunted_Spirit-_- it's smart that you're being extra careful about drinking because addiction has a strong genetic component. Why do these people act like it’s a bad thing that teens are choosing to prioritize their health and safety? Like, what were all those anti drug and alcohol campaigns for then????
HONESTLY!! We had to live with the problems and repercussions of other people’s drug and alcohol use so we decided “no thanks” and now they’re like “why aren’t you doing this?” I don’t know, maybe because we’ve seen what it did to families and decided we weren’t going to do the same
Were they expecting us to see the anti drug and alcohol campaigns and go “oh my gosh, I NEED to do that! Someone find me some, I want to try!🤩” or…? Because if so, that’s the opposite of what those campaigns should be doing; if they’re not discouraging drug and alcohol use, that’s BAD
I think the millennials were also getting those campaigns and they're the generation of kids it didn't work on.

I know right! And what's crazy is that it'll become an endless loop over generation. It's just a constant loop of restriction and too much freedom.

bro growing up my mom wouldn't even let me drink COFFEE let alone sodas with caffeine in it.
Feeling funny or headaches without caffeine is nothing compared to the spiral you will go through by alcohol addiction.
saaaame.
My mom did allows us a bit when mixing it with condensed milk. It's very good!
As a millennial who DID NOT drink and WILL NOT drink. I apologise for the behaviour shown by my generation and I'm ashamed
Me neither I would rather die then to drink alcohol or to gamble
its a GOOD thing that these kids are drinking in their parents garage. that means their parents trust them, and it means theyre safe if anything does happen to go awry, because there's a capable, sober, legal adult there to handle any problems. let's be hoenst: teens LOVE to rebel. and thats a great, amazing thing!! but, drinking as rebellion is dangerous. i think, by making it permissible for them to occassionally drink, it'll make drinking as rebellion feel BORING, and theyre less likely to run off and do it in secret.
my mom never told me that something was a NO except piercings (i asked for them a lot). well guess what i did the moment i turned 18 lol. all my rebellion ever was are my piercings and dyed hair (i'm 26 now). my mom obviously NEVER wanted me to smoke or drink, but she wasn't vocal about it. and here is my sober ass with piercing and colored hair :) honestly glad my mom took this approach, since i have addictive personality due to my mom being an alcoholic (it got worse in my late teenage years) and some relatives as well, so it's in my genes
@@6nomemory6 thank you for sharing this, its so vulberable
I’m glad my mom handled it the way she did.
as a gen z person, people did indeed bring alcohol to school in waterbottles. and they ALWAYS GOT CAUGHT SO IT WAS RARELY EVER DONE
Wait fr?! How many people did that?!
It's the same for every generation! You can't drink at school. Everyone tries, and most of them fail or get embarrassed miserably and have to change schools. This is just peaked in high school behavior
@@alexv3372 I remember a couple of guys in my year trying to do that, got caught real quick after they drank too much of straight vodka and got tipsy.

How did they get caught? Did they drink too much or something?
I think millenials hate gen Z because they feel like they don't have an identity of their own while Gen Z has very strong identities that they are very secure in. They want to feel important so they try to exclude others to make themselves feel unique.
It's honestly kind of sad.
Yep, some of them went full circle and became even worse than the boomers. They cling to the 90s like how the boomers cling to the 60s
A millennial that has sense, thank you 🙏
Exactly that! Alcohol is extremely addictive, to add onto it one of the most common and easily to obtain ones. It's socially accepted and if you're not drinking people will sometimes judge you for it.

I was raised by a family of drug addicts and alcoholics. I have a lifelong goal of a prohibition on any drug regardless. People get surprised by this fact and continuously try to get me to do things as if I'm just afraid too. I am not, I just don't want too.
I'm a child of alcoholics and when I was in school I was very against it and my bullies who drank thought I was scared and were always saying that they wanted to "live their lives to the fullest cause you never know what could happen" and I remember thinking that it must be really sad if they find drinking in the middle of a field and vomiting violently at the end of the night is living your life to the fullest

that's adult grooming
also if you were afraid to that wouldn't be a valid reason to push substances on you either... sobriety is cool people shouldn't push against it

Millennial talked about roasting friends in Myspace as if cancel culture and cyberbullying isn't the one of the biggest issues of gen z
i’m 24 and the times i’ve looked back on how my peers and myself had acted in highschool it’s scares me. kids selling their prescribed adderall, buying and selling vapes, hitting thc carts before class, and finding random pills spilled in the stairwell to name a few. we were uneducated “rebellious”(in a non productive way) kids. some have gotten out but there’s still a handful who struggle with substance abuse. the people who are stuck in their “good ol days” are really out of touch.
Tbh I don’t want to play the actual version bc I don’t want to drink a beer that had a dirty ball in it
I've also seen people play beer pong with various kinds of sodas instead, which sounds way more fun imo!
As a millennial, this is the first sign of hope for Gen z I've seen. This is awesome
Millenials try not to cancel GEN Z challenge 🔥 (99% failed ‼️🥶)
my farts are better than Haylo’s farts 💨
Challenge impossible... It's funny how most of 'em failed.
Brother so far they tried socks , songs , and now not drinking alcohol 😭 😭 what's next , the colour of our school bags ??? 😭😭
Socks??? 💀 💀 get a hobby omg
@@elladaniels9102 ??
I love Gen x making fun of White Claws and pretending like parties they went to back in the day weren’t fueled by Boone’s Farm, St Ines and Pucker.
White claw is awful but you are absolutely right😂
And Seagrams 😂
I can smell that list.
I'm Gen X and I made fun of people for drinking Boone's Farm back in the day. Official drink of pom pom girls at a high school near you.
As a gen alpha firstly i will apologise for my generation but PLS gen Z when its your turn to be the millennials of the world PLS be nice to us
You're not at fault for your surroundings and you don't need to apologize for your generation's behalf. The older generations had failed to do something that is useful and beneficial for your well being.
But I will do my best to make things easier for you guys, no worries.
True, As a Gen alpha, i am EXTREMELY dissapointed with my Generation..
I shall protect Gen Alpha from Gen Z bullying them. This is coming from a Gen Z.
thank you to all of u who respeonded
Also... I'm gen z. I'm 18. I had classmates showing up to school high with vodka in water bottles at 14. They weren't cool, we just felt bad for them.
Imagine the silent gen saying this : look at these kids with their vodka while we carry revolvers ars assault rifles ak 47 huh rookies
Maybe Gen Z has seen how drunk our parents get and the side effects of being drunk and Gen Z doesn't want that to happen when we eventually have children
Why are people so upset we're being responsible? 😭 That's so sad tbh
You're still both the same: arseholes.
they envy their potential and try to sabotage them from narcissism
