This is so much better than the one I remember watching as a child. The one I remember was washed out looking and had a permanent Hallmark sign burned into the middle of the video.
If I'm not mistaken, the Sony Pictures/Columbia Tristar DVD (shown on the left) used the same master that was used for the previous home video release and cable TV airings; Cinderella's conversation with her and Prince Charming was shortened and the bumpers were deleted altogether.
Correct. I remember as a child my mother had the Playhouse Video release, and I was later given the Hallmark release as a gift, and both versions were identical. They also replaced the closing credit music with the track from the stereo cast album. Shout Factory restored the original music.
Well, that’s the work of Shout Factory searching out the original broadcast master tape instead of using the dub with dropouts and generational loss used for all prior video releases.
I remember seeing this when it was re-ran in the 70's (or maybe early 80's). The Shout Factory remaster looks sharper except the color enhancement brings out glowing edges around the corners and left side. I guess thats artifacts from a then 61 year old video tape.
As a little girl I had such a crush on Stuart Damon. And I still do. I have two copies of the production but I don't think either is the restored version. Does anyone know when it was restored?
The CBS ID makes me wonder if this originally aired with "CBS presents this program in color!" at the start, and if reruns began with the "CBS Special Presentation" intro.
Jo Van Fleet's oh shit look rivals Lady Tremaine's owned look in the animated version but in here, animated, and 97 the stepmother literally gets totally owned
But in the song it is meant as a joke and she laughs after she says it. People say in jokes and in sarcasm things they would not really do. They just sometimes fantasize about it.
basically showcasing the reason I hate my DVD version of Cinderella vs the VHS version my family grew up with, everyone looks a million times better before the weird roseasea remastering
macers racers, actually, the newest DVD returns to the original master tape before it was dubbed to a different format and degraded. It is that master than was a generation removed from the original that was used for all prior broadcasts and video releases. The older release is the one that looks off to me. Also, you'll notice this new version has some additional footage when the prince first meets Cinderella as well as the original broadcast bumpers.
@@valenzuelasstudios1838 Any differences would be negligible. Reissuing it on Blu-ray would imply that it was in high definition, something that isn't possible as it was filmed on standard definition video. It can be upscaled, but detail and quality can't legitimately be added when it just wasn't there to begin with. Had it been shot on film, then it would be a different story.
@@valenzuelasstudios1838 To such a minor capacity as to be negligible. Never said it wasn't done; just see a greater need for proper full HD masters to be released on Blu-ray that just SD upscales.
This was pure magic for me as a little girl ♥
Marie York me too. Brought tears to my eyes.
This restoration is one of the best I've seen in a long time.
I'm glad that I have this movie on DVD! LOVE it. I was 5 years old when I saw this movie. Great Job!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MOVIE MY GRANDMA N I USED TO WATCH IT EVERY NITE RIP!!!
Leslie Warren will always be Cinderella to me.
God forbid that they allow her so say that the Prince was out fighting Dragons and rescuing women in need!

great restoration, big difference.
Hurray! Great job!!!
What a true romance

@@ChuckPenn3 tis Japanese to me. But you have done restorations that are as good as any I have seen done and I have seen quite a few.
FANTASTIC

I purchased a newer version but I am not sure it is as good as this restoration. I have to check it out. I love this Cinderella.
Jo Van Fleet's oh shit look rivals Lady Tremaine's owned look in the animated version but in here, animated, and 97 the stepmother literally gets totally owned
Also if you see the version that Drew Barrymore did called "Ever After" the stepmother gets totally owned in that one too.
I also think that oh shit look of hers is hysterical. She does that look several times in this version.
😊😊😊😊
4:13-4:15, Pull out all of her hair? That's assault. You can go to jail for that.
You DO realize the story takes place long before any of us were ever born...right?

Life Full of Cheese Our VHS from the early '90s had the full scene of Cinderella and Christopher meeting, but not the bumpers.
The original master had to have been 2" Quad, but what was it dubbed to, U-Matic? Nice job with the restoration BTW!
I think the remastered version looks wonderful!
I wish i can download the full movie for free

Beautiful but Blu Ray version when
It was filmed on standard definition videotape in the fall of 1964. It can never be in true high definition because the resolution just isn't there.
@@ChuckPenn3 but better audio and higher bitrate on the picture can still be achieved, can't it?

Not a single black person. Unlike today we’re they’re shoehorned into medieval movies set in England.
Well… why not? It’s all pretend anyway.
