Amherst is VERY competitive. That’s why I was happy to take classes there, but then escape that and go back to Hampshire - and also getting off campus and escaping that bubble is SUPER important. And I think that was the case at all four of the colleges. UMass was a bit different, since it was the size of a small suburban area.
