    Is the Entrepreneurship club of the college really active? And do you think the college appreciates and supports people involved in entrepreneurship and stuff?

    • @AlexiLee
      @AlexiLee  3 роки тому

      I honestly haven’t heard anything about the Entrepreneurship. I do think that the school is pretty supportive in terms of providing access to a vast alumni network and giving flexibility for students to attend to independent projects!

    What resources are available for first generation, low income students on campus?

    • @AlexiLee
      @AlexiLee  5 років тому +1

      We are a Questbridge school, so all the scholars have access to those resources, but in addition, we have a lot of different groups that do outreach to students who come from various economic backgrounds. I would say Amherst's most recent large initiative is to be more open to a diverse class, so there have definitely been efforts made to ensure that first gen/low income students have equal opportunity to succeed here.

    what was the process to become a tour guide & orientation leader like?

    • @AlexiLee
      @AlexiLee  5 років тому +1

      I applied and interviewed for both positions, which were highly competitive! I've wanted to be a tour guide since the first tour I went on my freshman year in high school, so I was super excited to get it; I also had a great Orientation Leader, and I wanted to be involved with Orientation in some way, so I decided to apply for OL and so I was excited to get it too!

    Is there a good African American population there?

    • @860hurdles2
      @860hurdles2 5 років тому

      And too add to that, is there any culture of racism or discrimination there?

    • @AlexiLee
      @AlexiLee  5 років тому +4

      African American students make up about 10% of the student body. One of Amherst's most recent big initiatives has been to increase diversity (in many aspects), and while there is definitely room for improvement, I think that Amherst has been making strides in the right direction.

    • @AlexiLee
      @AlexiLee  5 років тому +3

      About racism and discrimination- I would say that there is not really a culture of racism. Some definitely exists on campus (as on all college campuses), but I feel like most of the campus has very little tolerance for ignorance and hate. Like I said, there's definitely room for improvement, but a majority of students are really working hard (even against the administration at times if needed) to make sure that everyone feels safe, included, and comfortable.
