I just got done doing this. "Literally the way to go", was dead on. So thank you for the idea. I couldn't bring myself to spend near intake manifold money on hard mounts. I used A 80 urethane rubber from Frosch. Urethane and polyurethane rubber are very close if not the same thing depending on who you ask. You will require a little less than 2 lbs to do both mounts. I do recommend using some brand new mounts to do this. I got a set for around $50 on ebay. Reason being if your mounts are old and have seen a mapped engine they are generally going to not be sitting perfectly and will be sagging. Not essential but something to consider. This works perfectly fine on old mounts. I didn't want leaks so I picked up a tube of $2 weather stripping adhesive for gluing your rubber molding to the chassis. It is waterproof. All I did was use a small amount of material to prefill the holes in the mount. And the parts where they don't sit entirely flush. Like the black metal bit on the trans mount. And after taping I coated all the seams with rubber cement just to make sure nothing escaped. And they cast very nice. Much better than expected. One thing to consider if your going to make them pretty with this compound is the duck tape sticks to the polyurethane. The excess was relatively easy to scrape off. And it was very cheap to do. No sense putting wear on your axles, drivetrain, intercooler, and all those expensive parts of your motor. I think most people dont consider how much a set of some old junk factory mounts flex when you come onto throttle. Also your intercooler piping and intake will all flex obscenely when your motors rocking around like a babys cradle. Even with silicone parts. But for me the best part is knowing that my axles are going to be staying in position and my suspension geometry is going to be tighter. Theres a moment where if you come onto throttle quickly you feel the power being put down but theres a momentary delay in forward momentum. This solves all that because instead of that power being transferred into a drivetrain pendulum it now gets directed straight into the road. Again thanks for the idea it was a good one.
Nice one fella, heard of this before but after seeing your warts and all vid I'm definitely going to do this on mine soon before shelling out on sky high products. Only just found your channel tonight, agu 1.8t owner so many thanks for sharing you're endeavours 👍
Nice one thanks pal. We run an 02j box off an ibiza cupra and we have the TT 5 speed short shifter fitted. It goes on exactly the same as the original so just a bolt on and off affair and reset the shifter cables. No video though I'm afraid, didnt think it was good enough for a video. We are thinking of changing the full shift tower inside the car, but were not there yet. 👍

Spot on. Great mod. Love how you left the comedy muck ups in too.

Quality job, and I will definitely do this.

Great vídeo!! You kept the old rubber, just fill the spaces with poliurethane, right? Did it last long?
