A # of Penn State’s backups could be All-Americans if they were able to compete at Nationals. TWO backups knocked off nationally ranked guys!!!
that's why they're the best: they get all the really good guys which weakens the parity of the field.

Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about because I'm just some old wrestler who was slightly above average in a statistically weak state for wresting, but I feel like Aaron Nagao needs to realize he's not John Smith and either learn a different shot or figure out how to actually finish his sloppy low singles.
"Nagao is not known for being good on his feet . . ." Now we know why
@@JG-re2bbHaha. I feel like with his top game and decent scrambling ability he has potential to be a problem for a lot of people, but he's essentially belly out with each shot and it doesn't take much time to learn how to defend his type of shot!
Lilledahl will replace Nagao next year.
He's the only PSU guy that won't AA this year...
@@cootriley6 Davis is fringe for me as well. He's very solid but i just don't see enough attacks out of him. Tries to keep it close and that style at the tournament can really burn you.
PSU sends out two wrestlers from a lower weight class and still get victories. Rutgers wrestled tough, hats off to them.

They wont even allow you to challenge against penn state. They miraculously wont have footage lol. The coach from rutgers had every right to be heated
Yeah he did. They have it for basketball here why not wrestling??? Also that 125 bout looked almost identical to the ending of this bout for PSU vs OSU

This guy has got to be the most obnoxious referee in the NCAA. Giving constant verbal commands throughout every match is unnecessary. Just call the match… scoring, stall counts, stalemate, etc. All of the additional commands and speaking to the athletes is annoying.
That Levi Haines pin was faster than the amount of time Davis was on his back at of the 125 match.
So what you’re saying is you don’t know how to tell if somebody’s pinned when they’re on their back?

Dude talks way too much for a referee. Refs these days bossing around wrestlers think they are conducting a symphony or something then can't call a pin. Ridiculous. So distracting as a wrestler. First 10 seconds "GET OFF THE THROATS BOTH OF YOU." Bruh, that's called a collar tie. 😂
A good ref is one that you don't recognize is there but makes the right calls. This ref was chirping every chance he could. Potentially dangerous called when a knee was on a wrist?@@smooch7842
Davis is not taking any shots for TDs. He seemed to be much more aggressive early in the season. Dylan Shawver, Rutgers, has to be the slippiest wrestler on the planet. And he is quick too. I thought Nagao had him a couple of times. But then Shawver would turn it around somehow. Give him credit, he is dangerous. Bartlett won late as is his 'MO.' He was not nearly as impressive as he was at Iowa. Who knows. I liked the effort by Terrell Barraclough the best. He had to ride his guy out in the third period to win in regulation., and he did. And then sophomore Lucas Cochran moved up to 285 and did a good solid job. Maybe he is Kerkvliet's replacement for next year. Glad he got some experience.

Why are referees suddenly inserting themselves into matches so aggressively these days? It's as if they desire to be a part of the show. It's self aggrandizing and needs to stop.
Agree. Be quiet! Some refs constantly instructing to get to the center - like if it doesn’t happen in the center it’s no good. Annoying.
Davis needs to go on offense more consistently.
Bartlett and all these close matches - that can be a dangerous game to play come NCAA’s.

The ref started the count late. The three count was there and possibly four.
A back up heavy weight from Penn State who no one has ever heard of just beat number eight in the country. Wow ! That is why everyone wants to wrestle at PSU.
I love the inexplicable lack of video replay for the refs. Penn State is shady! Davis would have lost that match had there been video replay. I see Carter Starocci took another night off. Go figure. He has no heart!

Davis won for the second time due to a questionable call at the end of the period. He is not as good as his ranking suggests (if rank means anything at 125)
Like Yianni said, “The only person who has a 0% chance of winning NCAAs is the #1 seed.” Seedings mean nothing except put a target on you. Davis wrestled well until he had a flashy top 10 ranking on his name. Now he’s barely winning
Calling the other takedown vs Ohio State 'questionable' is generous.. more like a completely blown call. Refs stole that match
@@kyleballard9888 100% no doubt. This one you can question, but that Ohio state call was terrible. Definite 3, and potential 2 back points, but that may be a stretch
I know people don't want PSU to not have an elite 125 pounder but they do. Deal with it.
@@JadedOptimist He hasn't looked all that elite. He's wrestled his first serious competition over the past 3 weeks and he for sure lost 2 of those matches and you can argue that he lost this one too.
