Great listen spot on boys gills best duo 👊
English retired football goalkeeper. Whilst playing for Gillingham he set a record for the lowest number of goals conceded in a 46-match season in the Football League, when he let in just 20 goals in the 1995-96 season 🔥
Jim Rightly deserved a wall poster for the rainham end

Great review. I agree with you both on the time. What was really interesting for me was that Tranmere ran out of ideas and started bickering. I thought Cameron Norman for his experience had a mare. We now have pace in our team and Wyllie was brilliant running at their CBs for the 2nd and 3rd goals. I wasn’t sure about taking Gbode off but you have to take your hat off to Bonner for the master stroke of changes.

Great show. I'm always interested in yr views on the ref of the day. As a Gills fan and a qualified referee I try and be impartial. I agree there were times when the ref was inconsistent, but Coleman was nieve for both bookings. The first booking he needs to curb his petulance. Throwing the ball away and then showing decent only ends with a card. His second card was a deliberate foul. Your point about a previous incident is irrelevant to how Coleman reacted. He made it easy for the ref to show the red. A season pro would let it go. It's a hard lesson but one he needs to learn quickly. Especially as the refs at this level are, let's not forget, generally inexperienced themselves. As a side not all fouls which look the same end with a card. If a foul is committed because of skillful play by the opposition then the ref will let it go. (Generally) if however a foul is committed and is deliberate then a card comes into play. A subtle but important difference. Final point. It's swings and rounderbouts. I'm old enough to remember Danny Westwood being sent off for decent after being assaulted by a Swindon player. If it wasn't for that we wouldn't have our great rivalry with Swindon!!! We need more youth refs so give them some credit for doing an impossible job. Thanks guys. UTG

@@alanhickm869 Ethan’s yellows were both given for fouls I think, Lapslie’s was for dissent having been blatantly shoved into the hoardings.
I’ve watched back the highlights and agree the first yellow for Coleman is warranted, but didn’t see much of an advantage for us after he was chopped down so think the ref got that wrong still.

Cheers Matt. More great content. 15 heroes yesterday, everyone an emperor. The standard of refereeing at this level is a joke. It was bad last season but, the guy against Chesterfield and yesterday take it to a whole new level. However, having watched the Spurs v Arsenal game this afternoon The Premier League has a lot to answer for. Arsenal from the start of that game were winding the clock down. An early word or if necessary an early Yellow Card would stop it. The powers that be also make a rod for their own back with the goal kick rule. Take the goal kick from the side the ball went out FFS. I think a massive amount of credit needs to go to The Hess and Kenny J in finding Wyllie. As for Joe Gbode, could he be the next Bradley Dack. I've also been impressed with Giles, Webster and Gale. There is also a lad called Skipper who is exciting a few people. It should be a good game against Notts and then at Barrow and Mr Clements. Keep up the good work Matt and Rhys

Boys, you’re completely wrong on the referee. He actually did a good job. Let’s look at some of your points.
    1. Just before Lapslie was booked, the referee publicly warned him with the scuffle with the Tranmere player near the PA area. Then, a few minutes later he throws the ball into the ground showing decent, the goodwill of the previous warning is now gone leaving the referee has no choice but to show him a YC ( regardless of if there was a potential foul in the lead up)
    2. Both YC’s were correct for Coleman. For the first one he was booked for stopping a promising attack. Even though the actually tackle didn’t deserve a YC, the fact the trip stopped the opposing players attacking phase is what the YC was shown for. And the 2nd was a poorly miss timed late tackle. Clear YC which results in a RC.

@@KrisGriffiths-Jones I get Lapslie should not chuck the ball away so in that sense yes the yellow is correct. But if the official does his job and correctly gives a foul to Gillingham for the blatant shove into the advertising boards it doesn’t get to that point.
Having watched the highlights back I think both of Coleman’s tackles (in isolation) are actually the correct decision, but our frustration was from the fact he was whistle and card happy for us yet gave warning after warning for them and no actual cards.
Plus I don’t think there was sufficient advantage for us in the phase of play which lead to the red card.
