Boneless spare ribs with pork fried rice and a roast pork egg roll, House Chow Ho Fun, Steamed pork dumplings, Wonton soup, Shrimp with Chinese vegetables or Shrimp with Snow Peas are some of the dishes that I randomly order from my local Chinese restaurant. My husband prefers Sweet and Sour Chicken
General Tao's Chicken, Fried rice, Crab rangoon, Chow mein, Sweet & sour chicken, Egg rolls, Pot stickers, Siu Mai, BBQ Pork Buns, Won Ton soup, Chicken in foil and Sweet sour soup.
When I have Chinese---once a month----I'm not worried about all those delicious calories, fat, carbs, cholesterol and sugars; that's the point of having Chinese. Now if I was eating it several times a week, then yeah, I would have something to worry about. It's about moderation.
My bf and I ordered out over $60 of Chinese food last weekend. It was sheer bliss, and we had four days of leftovers to enjoy. Almost everything on this list was in our order.😂
I used to run 5-10 miles a day so I could eat what I want, now I eat once a day so I can eat what I want because I don't have time for the running, either seems to work ok my weight stays the same
There's nothing wrong with quality beef in any dish and I argue beef is more nutritional than chicken. From how grossly most chickens are raised (packed in barns with little room to move) and then all the added hormones, beef actually isn't as bad for you as the world tries to tell you. Beef has a source rich of iron that the body needs for proper function. And it's more easily absorbed by the body than iron found in other foods. Chicken doesn't contain as much iron so unless you're getting pounds of chicken a week or of iron rich veggies and nuts, you'll probably end up anemic or close. So if you're not a vegetarian or have anything against eating cows, help yourself to any quality cut or prepared dish with beef! Your red blood cells will thank you!
Good grief, Mashed, if you’re gonna warn everyone to avoid Chinese dishes cooked in oil, covered in sodium or sugar, or made with noodles 🙄, then you might as well advise people to avoid American Chinese restaurants altogether. This video is kinda ridiculous. I should’ve stopped watching after you slammed fried rice, of all things. But morbid curiosity kept me watching, and now I wish I hadn’t wondered what kind of video this would be in the first place. That’ll learn me.
I love to try different oriental restaurants, but my favorite type is still the American Chinese. I don't eat out enough to care about how healthy it is, I'm there for the occasional treat. I have cooked my own versions at home, mostly fried rice with ginger root and garlic, egg and veggies. I love Egg Foo Yung, but hard to find one I like, now that so many older restaurants have closed. Occasionally I'll buy canned oriental vegetables and make my own at home. Also a good way to use up leftovers, or just add sautéed fresh bean sprouts, mushrooms, green onions and whatever I feel like, top it with a gravy or a sauce made from pan drippings, broth or water and soy sauce.
Furthermore, most of their information is outdated for significant parts of the country. Those cholesterol levels assume wok-frying or deep-frying in lard. Many cities and states have outlawed lard in restaurants and mandate low- or no-cholesterol alternatives, such as safflower oil.

The Chinese staff in a restaurant in Las Vegas took us to a place outside town after hours where many of them would eat. Cheap and yum as as you can can't believe. Don't know if its still there, or others like it, but it qualifies as a "major secret" in my books. NEVER eat at the chinese restaurants. Ask the staff where to go.
Mashed, you have been put on notice for affirming and not calling out Imitation Crab Meat. It’s extremely unhealthy, why do you refuse to do your homework on this? Arrogant.
Cheap and fast? Then it's going to be fried. Extra time to trim the fat during prep? Nope. American culture always looked at chinese cuisine as low down cheap. There are quality dishes, and yeah, they are at the proper restaurants. They have the $40-80 to $100+.look at bbq meats. Shredded pork, ribs. You think they'll take extra 20 minutes per rack to trim out the excess fat that buried in the meat? No, rough slice of what's visible, and into the smoker.
This was a waste of time. What is there to say, I guess it's plain cabbage for dinner tonight. I don't want to eat anything Chinese cause according to this, I will die a horrible , painful death after eating a plate of love mein.😢😢😢
Excuse me, I thought this channel was Mashed. Obviously, this is a video from "Eat This, Not That". I usually go to Mashed to find what's delicious. I try not to go to the channel "Eat This, Not That" because they make me feel guilty AF. I feel horrible now, so this couldn't be a Mashed video. Seriously Mashed, keep presenting this type of video, and you'll watch your views drop off a cliff. The moment I heard "Center for Science in the Public Interest", this video instantly lost all credibility.
What is your go-to order at Chinese restaurants?
wonton soup, chicken wings, BBQ ribs, beef fried rice, tofu with mixed vegetables, general tso's chicken, singapore mei fun, pork lo mein , happy family, shrimp spring rolls, and szechwan lamb
General Tso's Chicken, Lo Mein or Chow Mein noodles, Rangoon's, and Egg Rolls.
Good ol' Chicken Chow Mein.

Let's get real, when I go out to eat twice a month it's ISNT to be healthy.
That’s fair.
Go for the pepper N steak
@@otisbanananutspunkmeyer Usually it's General T'so or Sweet and sour pork with pork fried rice and egg rolls for me.
@@ClamBake7525 yes you definitely need to chill. That's about 2500 worth calories right there
@@otisbanananutspunkmeyer Not both at the same time and like I said once or twice a month.
Nobody eats Chinese food to be healthy! It’s delicious!!
The Chinese might 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Boy, Mashed REALLY KNOWS how to ruin the fun of having a Chinese dinner.

There is a place in Rochester that makes the General Tso's with the original recipe, it is a spicy vinegar sauce and it is fantastic
What state?
IM GONNA MAKE BELIEVE I DIDN'T SEE THIS !!! I love Chinese food at least once a week some times two times 🥦🥩🧅🫚🍗🌶🍅🍳

@@marywatkins9438 that's a small Chinese my order is never under $100 and usually about $130
So basically don’t order anything at Chinese restaurants
Great channel, great content. Definitely a learning channel. Thank you.
Well there goes every single thing I love to eat at a Chinese Restaurant! (and it shows when i look in the mirror)
Try the chicken noodle soup

I used to order Chop Suey because it was served over white rice. If I felt like having crispy noodles I'd order the Chow Mein.

So basically everything I like at chinese restaurant.... don't you dare include Egg Foo Yung!!!!
Oh, that's my favorite!
That “You Can’t Do That on TV” reference was amazing! I haven’t seen that show in decades.
"Duck Chow Mein? There's no such dish!"
"Eh don't be too sure Willbur. In Chow Mein, who knows what they put under all those noodles."
-Mr Ed.
1:27 seconds in, what is the name of that show?!?! I used to watch it!
....so you're saying not to eat at a Chinese restaurant at all....
So what’s left? :)
Lots of complaints but very few good recommendations. Nice hatchet job!

Wish Mashed would stop perpetuating the myth that fat is bad for you.

Give me my beef chow fun and move out the way.
Uuuhhhhh….then….so we should never order anything from any Chinese restaurant?
Most American foods are banned in other countries...🤔🤔
Im so happy the pepper n steak and Stir fry weren't on this list
Nothing I normally order when eating Chinese, but I suppose my go-to’ might overlap with some of these - Beff Mushroom Broccoli.
This is why Mexican Food is my favorite 🥳
Watch em make a “things you shouldn’t order at a Mexican restaurant” 😂
