Yeah. Godzilla NES gets real unrealistic once the author's gf gets involved. Its why I much prefer the lost media creepypasta based on Godzilla vs Destoroyah.
I actually love the lavender town theme PS: Herobrine was the gamertag of a normal swedish person. Almost everyone knows it's fake, and it's become more of a running joke. And the twerking Sonic was more terrifying then most of these
I would like to note, Polybius is actually slightly plausible if you know it's based on real events. Many 80s arcade games WERE known to induce brief amnesiac episodes in players...On account of their triggering photosensitive epilepsy. Since bright flashing lights in rapidly cycling colors are not exactly commonplace outside of video games, most people with photosensitive epilepsy at the time didn’t know they had it, and there was little public awareness of the condition, creating the impression that the games themselves had some sort of mystical power. Similarly, many early video arcades really were subject to covert monitoring by law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, not because of illicit medical experiments, but because many arcades were suspected (sometimes correctly) of being fronts for underground gambling rings. And it was pretty common for weird video game cabinets to pop up in odd locations before vanishing leaving no records...Because those were bootlegs. Add those three things together, and Polybius seems oddly plausible.
23:51 I mean another iconic 3 word phrase that came from Sonic.exe is "Bull. Friggin. Horseshit" from when the author found out it got moved to the crappypasta wiki
What's the beef with Minecraft? And, as for the Godzilla Creepypasta...I'll admit, it's cheesy as hell and riddled with cliche, but, hey, that pixel art is damn good, and it's clearly a love letter to Godzilla, which, as a fan, I can't really fault.
Sure it's cheesiche city, but damn. That fucking "kill yourself" part scared baby fish so much i couldn't sleep for days, and red is a cool monster design, I would love to see him in the legendary style.
The amount of buildup for the "sound that caused the Fallout creepypasta author to kill himself" only for it to be Neco-Arc followed by a _violent_ gunshot made me burst into laughter, thank you for that
One thing I'd like to add to Herobrine was that it was actually originally posted to /v/, just as is, with no further context. While the original story certainly codified it, it was actually this vague, weird post that popularized the idea, without all the "notch's brother" baggage, which in my eyes makes it way better. That wasn't the original author's stuff, the og creator's just been lost to time because they were just some anon on a gaming board. Also worth noting that Herobrine directly inspired two separate mobs in Minecraft; The Enderman, with their "watching the player vaguely menacingly" and "stealing random blocks", and the upcoming warden, with the whole "terrifying thing that pops up out of no where" bit, easily making it the most influential gaming creepypasta of all time. Also, I'm 100% certain tails doll didn't get popular because people actually read the story, it got popular because, for some fucking reason, there's a really creepy still image of the tails doll you can unlock in the game, and people just remembered that when they saw the title and went "yea, that works as a creepypasta I guess." And on Godzilla NES... Yea, I feel like the story was more a way for the author to show off his cool pixel art, it honestly isn't even really scary. I honestly do like the story, but more because I find it interesting then remotely scary, at least when imagining this in the context of the Godzilla characters actually experiencing it in the game's story. That, and Red looks *exactly* like a stupid ass "evil monster" Kaiju that would terrify small children for Godzilla to beat up in a classic monster movie, and for that, I have to give props. The guy really does love Godzilla. Tidbits aside, I loved the transitions, they're easily your best yet and I will forever wish UA-cam was a person so I could kick it half to death for not telling me about your uploads for like a month. Also, pleasantly surprised you didn't fall for the Mario "I hate you.exe" trollpasta. Like, so many people fell for that one it got a fangame like Sonic.exe did, and after that most people assumed it to be legit. And one last point: as bad as some of these can be, they're also directly to thank for the rise in dark and/or creepy stuff in indie games (seriously, half the shit you can do in Undertale feels like it coulda been written in a creepy pasta word for word (except, ya know, good), and that's not even counting the genocide route, you can just do fucked up shit for the fun of it), and the rise of internet indie horror in general. Pioneers of a genre are never the best examples of it.
You mean the picture of the doll floating alone in a checkered-floored abyss with a single spotlight shining on it? Nowadays I see that picture for Tails Doll as more underwhelming than creepy. In the game's story- if you can call it that- the Tails Doll was made by a desperate Robotnik with dwindling resources as a last ditch attempt to stop the blue blur. That picture is basically the game saying _"Here it is. It's just a plush with a drone in its head. Dunno what you all were expecting..."_
the scariest gaming creepypasta is when the gamecube boots up to the main menu I genuinely thought my gamecube was haunted the first time i booted it up without a disk
I never thought it was ghosts, but that shit did scare me as a kid. As my discs got more scratched (because I was a dumb kid) I was terrified that it would show that screen.
That one mario creepy pasta on tumblr that reads "mario once came out of my screen and killed my mom and my parents" sums up the whole creepypasta experience. Yes it was written like that.
The reason people like the Godzilla Nes Creepypasta isn't the story; most fans haven't even read it. The thing people care about is the fact that there's a real playable game to go along with it.
i think with hauntedvideo game creepypastas, i think writers need to realize that an actual spooky glitched game THAT YOU CAN PHYSICALLY PLAY is ten times spookier than having all the scary stuff described.
As much as it pains me to say it, watching Sonic.exe gameplay on its own with no commentary managed to scare me. I had a few people in my life that had... Interesting responses to my annoying young self. Long story short, It felt like I couldn't trust anyone because anyone could become a scary monster out of nowhere. Now, of course I had seen a few 2d Sonics before, and he's this wholesome guy that cares about his planet and his friends. Seeing him out of nowhere be a phsychopath just reached somewhere in my brain that it shouldn't have, but managed to anyway. Then I learned that I was the only one genuinely spooked by it and figured I should move on.
I was really hoping the crown jewel at the end of the video would have been Blood Whistle. The Mario 64 creepypasta there covers a lot of similar bases, but Blood Whistle is a masterclass in how to do everything wrong and be boring as sin. It's earned a soft spot in my heart, kind of like The Room.
You know a story's bad when the protagonist goes on and on about how he's gonna take his own life after he beats the game, and you're just like _"Why wait, man?"_
We technically already have that. Your profile picture is really fitting because it's the creepypasta about that girl trapped inside that boys consoles. The one where she forcibly brings him into wherever she was to do the same thing to some other poor soul.
Fun Fact: Sonic.EXE was SO bad, the story got kicked off the creepypasta website it was on, reuploaded on another, kicked off again, and reuploaded on the TROLLPASTA site.
For me, the spookiest creepypasta had to have been “Snow on Mt. Silver”. Seriously, I couldn’t sleep for weeks after that one, and while now it’s not scary at all, that shit was terrifying compared to strangled red, creepy black, lost silver, etc.
honestly the only really good creepy past i remember as "good" is this old mario world one that blatantly states "hey, this game isn't haunted or anything, i just broke the game files by playing the rom through a crappy emulator to many times and found an alternate ending. here's what happened."
@@bumblesmcfumbles I respect your opinions in the video but sonic.exe has evolved, has its own universe’s (ai and nightmare), and lore of them is shockingly well done for the actual good ones, ui kostas man genius writer.
The thing with NES gozdilla is that is a "personalized copy" it was different for everyone that plays it. So Red wasn't actually a real being possessing a game and trapping Zach's dead girlfriend. It was just lines of code that focused on a tragic memory from Zac's past. Not a lot of people like the ending though as it does get tropey with the game leaking out into real life. The personalized game copy was hammered down even more in the ongoing sequel in which the new protagonist (I forget the name) has a radically different game with the new big bad being a character called Warlock. Their are also actual friendly NPCs in the game that weren't in the original story. I do wish the first story emphasized how the copy was tailored to the player and their experience with it instead of keeping it in the dark and making you think it was haunted by a tumor and a dead girl.

Funny thing about tagging Super Sonic as Tails Doll. I managed to do it. _twice!_ on two different playthroughs! it took me about an hour each time, but I got the bastard both times. The trick is that Tails Doll is the only racer that doesn't slow down or sink in water, since its always floating. You can get Super Sonic by taking shortcuts and detours that no other racer can even dream of taking! It also helps that Tag Mode has you in free roam and you don't have to follow the track, and you have all the time in the world to tag everyone since the mode is a time trial to see if you can beat your personal best.
18:23 Funny you mention this method, Sonic and Tails actually do this to it in the Archie comics after beating it and taking the crystal on its head off.

Here's a little bit of trivia about the Polybius thing. There actually were FBI Agents gathering data from Arcade Cabinets. But for a different reason. See, people would watch people playing games like Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter or stuff like that and actually place bets on who they thought would win. There would be cameras placed inside of the cabinets so they'd find put who was placing bets.
Godzilla nes is completely held up by the design of red and the initial mystery of what red is but as soon as you learn what red is the story becomes so lame it would have been so much better if they never explained red
I enjoyed Godzilla NES when I read it, but there is no denying that it decides the best way to present a big horror moment is to quote The Lion King. No, I'm into it. Freddy Kreuger's new catchphrase is "Can you feel the love tonight?" Play Hakuna Matata over the ending of Midsommar. It works!
Candle Cove is easily my favorite for how on the nose it is about how terrifying a lot of low budget stop motion shows can be at times, with a hint of the supernatural. Its a lot more lowkey than other creepypastas which is refreshing to see.
God, I’m so happy to have found this channel. Cool, funny videos about video games and interesting related topics by someone who’s not massively transmisogynistic at worst and silent on some creators’ shittiness at best, and to top it all off he even shares my obsessive love of all things yugioh, with the early duel links character videos and various iconic sets of cards used for transitions. Keep up the great work man, every video has been a gift so far.

this is the first time anyone's explained that i've found, that the godzilla story focuses to much on zack, brings up reds origins, and so forth, most of the versions i like just go on to have red appear, and have the main character manage to beat him in a tyrannically difficult boss fight
The best Pokémon creepypasta is mad pickachu. It is incredible. I will summarizes it for you. A kid gets his game on a Pokémon game. He plays it on a tv (somehow), and his friend is there. His friend catches six pickachu. He then leaves. Then the pickachus come out of the screen and unalive the kid. They write three letters on the TV M A D. The kid’s parents went to Nintendo and Nintendo said they never did that, but when the kid’s friend said he caught 6 pickachu. Everyone was shocked. Best story ever
Won't lie, I was taken in by the Pokemon Black story back in the day. I was willing to believe just about anything when I learned how to do the seemingly insane sequence of events to make Missingno appear.
Pretty much the only creepypasta I’m personally interested in is “Abandoned By Disney”. If you haven’t read it, I suggest you do so. It, as well as its sequels, are great.
Hell yeah your upload scedule actually just fits perfectly for me after work! Tho sadly most creepypastas for me got boring indeed i only listened to some until i realized it mostly ends with "And you/he/she died" Or "And he/she/you became the monster/being/killer" Tbh it really depends on some the writing of the person. If you understand basic writing and how to stay consistent you can come with amazing stories such as Ben drowned. Great video you make things entertaining.... when more tester? (Just meme-ing)
Actually, there's an actually good version of Sonic.exe by someone by the name of Mouse something something. It's basically a VHS horror series. I looked up Gearisko, and it is NeedleMouse.
My favorite video game creepypasta would have to be Wario Apparition. "Favorite" in the sense that he seems like an okay guy and I would have beers with him. There's stuff in the actual games scarier than it.
I respect Godzilla NES a lot because it actually set out to be a *story* , and the Pixel-Art in it was really cool. To say the way I design horror shit is influenced by the way Cosbydaf designed the stuff in the Pasta would be an understatement. I still need to keep studying and creating monster designs like that, to be honest. But, yeah, I completely agree with the writing being egregiously cheesy and outdated. There were plenty of pretty fantastic ideas being thrown around at points though, as trope-y as they were. It still remains to this day as my favorite "classic" creepypasta, at least in terms of the monsters. If we take some of the new stuff into consideration though, that's where things get complicated.
The last one I don't think the last one was a creepy pasta I think the person made it because he just liked making Godzilla art and he just made it to showcase his art

the effort is admirable, though, i think that's unanimous
I still really like the creepypasta except the ending and dead girlfriend thing and i can't wait till the fan game is fully done
Yeah.
Godzilla NES gets real unrealistic once the author's gf gets involved.
Its why I much prefer the lost media creepypasta based on Godzilla vs Destoroyah.
@@goldenhydreigon4727 they made a creepypasta on Godzilla vs Destroyah?

PS: Herobrine was the gamertag of a normal swedish person.

And the twerking Sonic was more terrifying then most of these
Cant believe there was a time when Creepypastas were actually creepy

More like we were all younger and thus more naive.
I love it when there's a mundane explanation for something supernatural.
23:51 I mean another iconic 3 word phrase that came from Sonic.exe is "Bull. Friggin. Horseshit" from when the author found out it got moved to the crappypasta wiki
can i just say that i LOVE your transitions? like it's perfection.
@@FishGaming1245 "scared baby fish" aaaawww
Wow, I can't believe the Fallout 3 Creepypasta was completely and unquestionably right if you adjust for about 8 years.
I think that Creepypasta predicted Queen Elizabeth dying like how The Simpsons predicted Donald Trump being the 45th President.
The amount of buildup for the "sound that caused the Fallout creepypasta author to kill himself" only for it to be Neco-Arc followed by a _violent_ gunshot made me burst into laughter, thank you for that
You made some good points on Godzilla NES, but you also said you believed in lavender town till like a year ago.

In fact it's correct because Minecraft is a terrible game for babies
@@omgman5745Well, Sadly the developers are trying to make it that and we are close too...
Terraria was always better anyway.
Also, I'm 100% certain tails doll didn't get popular because people actually read the story, it got popular because, for some fucking reason, there's a really creepy still image of the tails doll you can unlock in the game, and people just remembered that when they saw the title and went "yea, that works as a creepypasta I guess."
And on Godzilla NES...
I thought the main inspiration behind the Enderman was the Slenerman creepypasta?
You mean the picture of the doll floating alone in a checkered-floored abyss with a single spotlight shining on it?
Nowadays I see that picture for Tails Doll as more underwhelming than creepy. In the game's story- if you can call it that- the Tails Doll was made by a desperate Robotnik with dwindling resources as a last ditch attempt to stop the blue blur.
That picture is basically the game saying _"Here it is. It's just a plush with a drone in its head. Dunno what you all were expecting..."_
the scariest gaming creepypasta is when the gamecube boots up to the main menu
I genuinely thought my gamecube was haunted the first time i booted it up without a disk
As a Swedish man I can confirm that we all know every other Swedes location at all times
The reason people like the Godzilla Nes Creepypasta isn't the story; most fans haven't even read it. The thing people care about is the fact that there's a real playable game to go along with it.
And even then, Sonic.exe, a much worse creepypasta, also has a game to go with it.
As does Lost Silver
And Creepy Black
And Ben Drowned
And Slenderman

i think with hauntedvideo game creepypastas, i think writers need to realize that an actual spooky glitched game THAT YOU CAN PHYSICALLY PLAY is ten times spookier than having all the scary stuff described.
Finally, watching all those episodes of BS Creepypasta Storytime serves a purpose
Ah yes, another Fat D enjoyer
I was really hoping the crown jewel at the end of the video would have been Blood Whistle. The Mario 64 creepypasta there covers a lot of similar bases, but Blood Whistle is a masterclass in how to do everything wrong and be boring as sin. It's earned a soft spot in my heart, kind of like The Room.
You know a story's bad when the protagonist goes on and on about how he's gonna take his own life after he beats the game, and you're just like _"Why wait, man?"_
Hear its cry.
See now I want a story about a ghost trying to make their game fun for people instead of scaring them.
We technically already have that. Your profile picture is really fitting because it's the creepypasta about that girl trapped inside that boys consoles. The one where she forcibly brings him into wherever she was to do the same thing to some other poor soul.
According to the Creepypasta wiki, NES Godzilla only has about 9-11 of the most common video game creepypasta clichés out of a possible 28.
Snow on Mt. Silver?
honestly the only really good creepy past i remember as "good" is this old mario world one that blatantly states "hey, this game isn't haunted or anything, i just broke the game files by playing the rom through a crappy emulator to many times and found an alternate ending. here's what happened."
I think I remember that one, wasn’t it titled “oh God no” where you fight Luigi at the end of the game?

My favorite part of the Ben Drowned creepy pasta is the April fools video he uploaded after it was sorta over the first time. If the Internet didn’t decide to call them “creepypastas” they might’ve had a chance.
No one’s gonna want to read the collected Works of “Aesop’s spooky bean farts”
Using all the horror themed cards and destiny board was a really nice touch!
Tails doll legitimately creeped me out when I first heard about it. I almost forgot about him. Glad to know he is still failing to haunt the internet.
Truly excellent outro this time BumFum! What you said was evocative and thought provoking! I couldn't have said it better myself, bravo! Huzzah!

Update, they were a few years late but the queen is dead now
I enjoyed Godzilla NES when I read it, but there is no denying that it decides the best way to present a big horror moment is to quote The Lion King. No, I'm into it. Freddy Kreuger's new catchphrase is "Can you feel the love tonight?" Play Hakuna Matata over the ending of Midsommar. It works!
Godzilla NES is like watching that cheesy Jason vs Freddy movie bur you can tell it had alot of heart in it
...I kind of love Jason vs Freddy, so I guess I have to have a soft spot for Godzilla NES.
Candle Cove is easily my favorite for how on the nose it is about how terrifying a lot of low budget stop motion shows can be at times, with a hint of the supernatural. Its a lot more lowkey than other creepypastas which is refreshing to see.
Yoooooo starting the video off with Demon's Crest ost! Already off to a great start!

If you ever do another one of these, I’d like to see you review Snowy on Mt. Silver. I personally think it’s a better crafted G/S creepypasta than Lost Silver, and one that often gets overlooked.

HAH!
Look, even as an 06/3D sonic fanboy that was fuckin hysterical.
this is the first time anyone's explained that i've found, that the godzilla story focuses to much on zack, brings up reds origins, and so forth, most of the versions i like just go on to have red appear, and have the main character manage to beat him in a tyrannically difficult boss fight

GOD DAMN IT THE FUCKING NEKO ARC SOUND EFFECT KILLED ME
I respect Godzilla NES a lot because it actually set out to be a *story* , and the Pixel-Art in it was really cool.
Bro did not diss Lost Silver
