Honestly, crocheting took me three days to master (at a beginner level) and I don’t think I would have got there without your help. I tried watching so many video tutorial and picture tutorials and I was just not grasping it, until I watched your video. The way you articulate what needs to be done and how you show it, is just so unbelievably calming and detailed. I cannot even begin to thank you enough. Truly. You are brilliantly talented. ♥️ xox
Thank you so much! I have probably watched thirty granny square tutorials and I kept getting confused, until I watched this tutorial. Your a great explainer, and an amazing crochet artist!
This is the only video I've watched that has clicked! Have been trying for years to recreate my grandmother's granny square blanket. Have watched craftsy videos and other UA-camrs, read crochet for dummies book. Your voice is so calming and clear. Bless You and Thank You!!
Oh wow I am so glad this video has helped you! Granny square blankets are the best and I hope you have fun recreating the blanket. Thankyou for your kind comment ❤️
Thank you so much. I tried following along to at least 10 different tutorials from other people and kept getting so frustrated. They would go so slow on the easy stuff and then go so fast on the actual complicated part. But I followed along with you and now I have one cute little square. I’m so proud!
I have always wanted to recreate my great grandmothers blanket but thought it was too difficult.. after watching your helpful video ive now just ordered my first starter kit! thanks for the great video :)
Such a great tutorial! I've been crocheting for a while but this was my first granny square (shockingly!) and it was so simple to follow. I started my blanket on Thursday and I'm almost done!
I've watched this video so many times and I'm happy to say that I've done 5 rounds so far and super happy with mt progress. This is honestly one of the best videos for beginners! Honestly, so grateful, thank you!
Very well explained!!! I’m gathering yarn to make a huge gs blanket but first I’ve got to finish 3 afghans I’m working on , as well as giving my thumb a good week or 2 break..tfs
Such great instructions. I am waiting on your tutorial on how to do the join as you go border you used on your different granny squares blanket, that you shared on instagram. I just started working on a small granny square blanket and I think that border would be perfect to join my squares. Thanks for sharing. Your instructions are so easy to follow.🙏
I’m a beginner and have watched and tried so many tutorials - yours are honestly the best. Your voice is soothing and I can almost hear it while o practice on my own, like a little rhyme! Thank you x
@@lynnjansenvanvuuren2867 Thankyou so much for your feedback. This makes me so happy that my tutorials are working for you ❤️ your comment has made my day
Thank you, good explanation and nice and slow. Happy to have found you, I've visited a lot of sites. I actually feel that I will be able to make a granny square now.
Can you please tell me or does anyone know "the order" of colors for each round? You only go up to round four on the video. It's a beautiful afgan and your instructions are very well done, much appreciated, thank you so much❤ never mind, bought the pattern
So glad you found this tutorial helpful. The order is in the pattern PDF which is available on Etsy and Ravelry, or if you are unable to buy the pattern you can find the order for free in the old crochet along documents in the “Files” tab of the Meema makes crochet community Facebook group. Everything is linked here: meemamakes.com
Hello! This is a wonderful tutorial for a complete beginner such as myself. Have been knitting for 50 years but never tried to crochet and you make it all so clear. Can I just ask, what make is the best crochet hook to use - yours looks very comfortable to hold. Thank you x
Yay I’m so happy you liked the tutorial 😁 They are clover amour and I LOVE them. You are right they are comfortable to hold, I get less pain from them, and the hook glides beautifully through the yarn. Highly recommend them!
Your tutorial look amazing i can't wait to try it ! I've wanted to start crocheting since a while already but it looked all so complicated but you make it look simple. I'll try it for my boyfriend birthday. But i was wondering, how long would it take me to make one as big as yours ?
Mine took 2 weeks working for several hours per day, but I can crochet quite fast with granny stitch. If you want it to be quicker then try using chunky or super chunky yarn instead!
I’ve been trying to do granny squares for forever and this tutorial is really helpful! Question: if I wasn’t changing colors, would I still turn my work after each row and ch3 to start? I’m just not sure because I wouldn’t be exactly in a corner at the start of the row
Good question. I actually have a tutorial showing how to start in the corner of the square when you are only using one colour. Here is the link for you: ua-cam.com/video/wscK3pz33S8/v-deo.htmlsi=qxaJiPcvD_M913cM
I used 12 colours and used approx 2/3rds of each colour to make the blanket, with an extra ball for the border. My blanket was just over 1 metre square. There were some people that made the blanket bigger and were able to get an extra round in each colour if you want it larger.
Wonderful! So lovely to listen to your videos. I have one question: when you slip-stitch to join, do you go through both the loops or just the one towards the back? I seem to get a little hole in mine. Thank you❤! Liz
I find going through both loops is less holey, but it’s not vital if you like how a different place looks. The great thing about crochet is there’s no right or wrong, you pick up tips and find your own favourite way of doing things 😊
Thank you for this tutorial!! I noticed you dont start with a slipknot when changing color and also no fasten off, just finish each round with slip stich. Is it secure? Im afraid it will unravel with time and washes.
Could you please show how to this this square in just one color so you can start the next round in a corner so there is no a ridge showing ? thank you so much!
@@joshjenkins7498 it sounds like you might not be putting the corners in the correct spaces. I recommend using a stitch marker or safety pin in the four corner spaces to ensure your corners are in the right place. If this doesn’t work, send me a photo either by email or post on the Meema makes Facebook group and I’ll see if I can help identify the problem
12:47 This part is so confusing that I literally can't get through the video :( I've started over three times now. I followed you from tiktok and love your content but I am failing to find any creator who can go slowly at all for a simple granny square... I'm picking back up this hobby after years and it is so much harder than I remember...
I cannot for the life of me figure out what i'm doing wrong. i've tried 6 times with 3 different videos and each time I don't end up with a square, I end up with a circle...

Did you accidentally increase the playback speed in your settings? Because I never speed up my voice to sound like a chipmunk so I think this may be an issue on your end.
I’m only 5 minutes into this video and this is already the MOST DETAILED crochet video I’ve watched!! Thank you so much.

Granny Squares, my Achilles Heel. Some where along the way I always mess up.

Yes this is an upcoming tutorial planned for the next couple of weeks. I do have an old tutorial showing this on tiktok if you want the link?
Does it make a difference if u do a ch before the next corner?I see some videos do and some don't. What's the best ?
How many yards of each color should i buy?
Why does mine come out in a circle instead of a square?

I am so sorry for missing this comment when you posted 5 months ago. Have you managed a granny square yet?
What size hook are you using? 40:15
It’s a 4mm or G hook, the recommended hook for DK yarn
What size hook you use Please
For DK yarn, start with a 4mm hook. It will tell you the recommend hook size on your yarn label
You did not say what number your hook is. 33:01
4mm, my apologies for taking so long to get to this comment. I must have missed it!
