Thank you for the video, extremely useful.
I've found that MP4 files require the Hikvision VSPlayer to view (otherwise video is frozen), whilst AVI files will play in VLC (and presumably most other) players just fine. This assumes your DVR has the option to change export type to AVI.
The VSPlayer software included on my Hikvision box is 32-bit so didn't work on a 64-bit OS. I downloaded the latest VSPlayer from Hikvision site and it now works (v. 7.4.1 at time of writing). The VSPlayer has the advantage of a very simple real-time zoom facility, whereas VLC player takes some setting up for zoom.

This is excellent - and what the CCTV installation co should have instructed me to do when the system was installed. Instead I've been flailing around with NO idea how to operate the system Thank God for UA-cam and for GPK Group Pty Ltd.

I install cameras and keep telling people how to do it. No one remembers what I said. Always " too busy " to learn. Then when they need it they get upset cause they cant remember

For some reason when I choose the time parameters, for example 30 minutes of footage for 1 single camera, I get about 20 smaller clips of the footage instead of 1 30-minute clip. Can I change this in the settings to fix this? I'd appreciate your help.

Dear Josh, Can you advise me please? I have audio on one camera for evidential purposes. Though it's audible when on Live view, I can't get audio on Playback (the entire purpose of the audio/visual set up!) Can you tell me if this Hikvision system supports playback, record, export audio, please? TIA

Any idea on how to export "more than 2000" clips? Because I wish to create a dump of everything and I seem to be only be able to do it 2000 at a time which is extremely time consuming. Any help would be much appreciated. :-)

Dollar Creations did you find the answer to this? I have the same problem. I wanted to export 1 large video instead of a bunch of 30 second clips.

Client wants me to backup a full 1Tb dive and it's only letting me export 4000 files at a time. Sounds like a lot but with 4 cameras constantly recording 4000 is only about 2.5 days. There must be hundreds of thousands of clips altogether to make up the 1Tb, plus the dates are wrong so I don't know where to start the next 4000.
Not expecting a response, especially not from the uploader. Just having a rant about how shit hkvision is.

I am having an issue with a Hikvision DVR that has more than 16 Analog channels (32 total) and the camera I am trying to export seems to be A18, but the export screen only goes up to 16. And when I go into Playback and view the camera, I click on the clipping icon to manually select a time frame on the timeline, but then it pops up with a message saying "No permission". But when I try the clipping function on A16, it works perfectly fine. Is there any solution to this?

When I am connecting a 1TB Seagate Backup plus to hikvision DVR and trying to format it the massage showing is "current external storage device does not exist or damage. Please check and refresh the list". The external hard drive is not detected by the DVR. But I can able to transfer data to a pen drive. So kindly help me to fix the problem why external hard drive is not detected by DVR to export data.

Why, even in your example when you chose 17:00-18:00 did the DVR export 16:35-18:17 ..mine does the same thing..if I only want a 5 min clip...I keep getting 45 min instead??

What you can try is downloading something called Any Video Converter software to convert the file to be playable. I have found that when I try to play the download with Windows Media it does not read the file something with the format but if you download an Any Video Converter it can convert the file so it can play with Windows Media OR download the VLC player which plays the file perfectly. I am not so familiar with apple but you should be able to use Safari and search for these things as I said either you can download the VLC player which will be easier or do the longer process and download Any Video Converter so it can play with almost any other file. But also question did you download the player that comes with DVR when you downloaded the footage?

Try downloading the latest VSPlayer from Hikvision (if you're on 64-bit OS, or your video freezes), or exporting as AVI rather than MP4 if you have that setting.

Sorry, this is old video. I see nothing that resembles my Hikvision Version 4.0. My interface is white while yours is black and entirely different set up, different windows, fields, etc. I am learning nothing here. Hikvision is total shit anyway.
