I can only see 30 cameras max on hik...I’m told that’s the max... . So I have to uncheck the cameras I just viewed then check off the other cameras. We have 90 cameras in total.

if you login to the camera interface and then go to the image sub menu , in there you can change it to auto or scheduled etc , it may be stuck on night mode 😊

My camera shows offline no matter what i do, I have tried numerous network settings, the camera is working when i view through a browser. When I go to configuration/camera management/ip camera, status is online, I used the IP address from here when setting up the camera in iVMS. Preferred DNS is the same as my router, alternate is 8.8.8.8. All the troubleshooting guides only tell me to changed those settings but still no good. Also tried DHCP and auto DNS, no joy.
@@DVSLTD Hi thanks for your reply. Under IP camera under camera management in the browser it says 8000, its also set to that in iVMS-4200. I didnt have a hikconnect account which I have now registered (I think) but still showing offline. Im getting support from the reseller, will update with the problem was when i fix it.

This software is stupid, bugged and probably programmed by intern...Literally i just reboot computer and it wants configure super user again my configuration is gone, when i delete user, save it, then exit application and run it again it will login with deleted user? when i want setup permissions for users checkboxes not working sometimes, save button not working sometimes, when creating new user its saying user already exists when its not true, could be one of best dvr software if it wasnt so poorely coded...This kind of application just dont belong to production environment.
Hi johny , what version are you using? , and are you running it as admin user ?, if not please allow admin access to the installation folder or give full access to the user that’s running the PC to the whole folder and you will see no issues, happy to help if required,
you have added the device but not the channels, please go into the group tab under device area , and add a group and then pick that unit that hasn’t bought the cameras in as the device group to be created, this should then resolve this issue 😊

Can you live stream camera feeds from Hybrid SAN? As far as I understand, Hybrid SAN can record camera feeds without needs additional equipment. This is good architecture because Hybrid SAN located in the rack securly. But I'm not sure Can iVMS-4200 can stream from Hybrid SAN? Can I assume this will be same as demostrated in this video?

Hi, how do I keep the camera I'm watching in Live view? I want to monitor the cameras 24/7 , I can only watch it live for a few minutes before each camera view goes grey with a play button displayed. Im sure its operator error but just not sure how to do this
I can't seem to get the cameras to show in the main view. If I go into maintenance and management under device I can see my NVR box listed. It says its online as well. This is on a second laptop computer. On my other PC I can see all six cameras when I go to main view. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I paid $1800 to install 8 cameras Hikvision system in my restaurant 2 years ago. NVR does not show up in search. Have tried to add manually, but shows offline. I am on the same network, attached to the same router, by wire. My previous NVR would show on my network page. All I had to do was login.

Hi , HIK-Central has 2 options for the video wall , you can use the smart wall license and hardware decoder like the DS-69UDI range, or we now also do a client video wall license which is cheaper but tries to give the similar control to the client as if using a decoder, I prefer the decoder as its more powerful but its possible either way , if you choose the decoder option you can add multiple decoders to the system and manage them from the client with the smart wall license, and the PC can still run up to 4 screens as long as the spec is meet , regards the license where are you based and I will get a contact for you 😊
this is way toooooo confusing.. i'm new to the security camera and have it in my house.... under mainview i get 1 or 2 cameras out of 4 that show up... there was nothing here that actually helped except where to change the skin... I hope there are better options and maybe I can find an after market software for this device.. or maybe I'll just remove this whole system
Can you please ask Hikvision to enable copy and pasting of usernames and passwords in their software? It's so frustrating not being able to copy and paste long secure passwords from a password manager. It's against best security practices to disable this functionality.

Hi! I'm currently testing Hikvision setup for my home. It's iVMS-4200 (v.3.1.1.11) with storage server on my private home PC server - Windows 10 on VM (no dvr) and iVMS-4200 on my laptop as a client. I have one IP camera so far (DS-2CD1043G0-I) which record constatnly and when I play recorded footage there is no information about motion detecion on timeline. The motion detection is turned on in camera, iVMS gets alerts about motion detection, but timeline is all blue. Can you help? (ps. sorry for my English, im from eastern EU).
I would personally use a 4ch NVR as this is so much more stable and you can have ~HIK-Connect for the phone for remote access , I don’t have the storage server setup as its not stable enough to be honest, so would need to go and check it all again
Question, using 4200 v.2.7.1.4. Camera field of view in remote configuration display window is much larger than in live view, which is missing about 35% of the image. Any way to correct/adjust this?
Mine still showing the device as being offline. Name, IP address, username and password are all correct. I may have to go back to ivms 320 which is slow as hell. I hate technology, all it does is wind me up! I just get a notification "Network Video Recorder Connection failed: device off-line or connection timeout. (HCNETSDK.dll(71)".

Hi , and thank you for the kind words, yes under the user management you are able to create this rule and associate only the cameras for live view and playback if required so they cannot then see them all
we recommended always the DVR / NVR for record but you can install the storage server on 4200 during install of 4200 software and point it to the local PC , but its not as reliable
Hi Dave. Does this make sense? I can see your video, and your voice audio is synched to the clicking you're doing on the software. But the insert video's got a horrid lip-sync issue. It can't be my Chrome browser, because, again, the actions of the GUI are in synch to what you're saying!
very nice video, I really appreciate. One question about this software ability. Is it possible to get the entire log alarm from DVR to iVMS-4200? Then I'd like to search different type of alarms to see the exact event. The best way should be to double click on alarm event time from list and to have the video recorded at that time. Thank you.
@@DVSLTD first of all it is not working, when I export it is just a csv file with my devices having parameters. No alarm. On the other hand I don't need export of alarms, but I need to list and filter them by criteria and to localize very easy some footage by double clicking the image. This is very useful function and I can't find it into so sophisticate and nice software.
most people who aren't using this for their businesses would probably like a basic tutorial about how to get motion detected videos sent to their emails, etc. Can you do one, or do you already have one made for this? Not everyone is tech savvy these days, and would like an easy step through for this type of usage. Or is there some other software you would recommend that isn't so robust? Oh, also, one of my cameras is a ptz and I can't seem to see that camera from the internet, even if I replace my internal 192 ip address with the actual external ip. The other camera works fine if I use the external ip. Thanks again.
do you mean of the local device on the system to add as the device or you trying to add a remote device and don’t know the IP ? if remote then we cant get it unless you where on the remote site and had the external IP and did the port forward and it was a fixed external IP of that site, maybe then using HIK-Connect is better
Hi seal , the spec will depend on the system requirements, you can use a i3 machine but the amount of cameras at a higher Res will be reduced , if you want the best performance and expect to do a lot with the software then i7 , 8/16GB Ram , dedicated Graphics card,
Technically you can do this and install the “storage server” element on install . but as its FOC software it can crash if you put a lot of load through it , if you do want to do this I would use a Windows based server for stability , but NVR is better

Hi Rrick and thanks, if you go to device management and then remote configuration option ( cog icon ) and select basic , it should take you to the web page of the device where you can set each VCA rule as needed direct to the NVR / DVR which is better in that we are more compatible this way , I hope this helps

Is there any way to display a recording status/motion status directly on the main view screen per camera on iVMS 4200? Similar to what it looks like on the local NVR 4.0 screen
Should the H264+ option be used to compress the data and minimise HD usage? I have a new NVR setup with 2 X 4mp colorvu cameras but when playing back the motion triggered footage as people move across the screen the playback will freeze for 3 seconds and then jump forward. I am unsure if this is a steam/camera config. Issue or the NVR is not keeping up with the stream. Any help much appreciated Kind regards Danny
Hi danny , I would use H.265 rather than H.264+ , to be honest I try to avoid H.265+ and H.264+ as they can have some effect on the image and also limitation of functions, H.265 performs very well ,
If I try to make a custom view, I save it and when I close the program or restart the PC the custom view is gone. What is wrong in this case? Note that user account running it does not have local admin priv.
it’s the local admin needed, if you don’t run it in admin mode it cant right the .txt file needed to save this view, can they run it with escalated admin for that user / machine locally ?
@@DVSLTD Unfortunately, there is no local admin; everything is in a domain which is very restricted. Can I manually copy that file somewhere ? If I temporary set the used account as local admin and save the config, will it then work in non-admin mode ? If I would knew the save location I could give special permissions to that location for the account.
@@BorgOvermind you can try making the folder in C:drive and 4200 as local admin so it can have admin access locally to the whole folder , this should work then
Dave i have a trouble with ivms V3, can you help me ? When one camera has disconnect from de network, all other câmeras in ivms live view appears a message : "Reconnecting...User does not exist, please input again. (Error code: HCNetSDK.dll[47].)". But if i select the custom view all cameras return to the live view. Did you see any kind of this problem ?
Hi , thanks for the feedback , actually I did see some strange things in early versions, are you using the latest 3.1.1.9 version ? I can send if needed , uninstall the last one ,backup 1st , then re-install latest and import the config if you need to input the data back in, but just as Quick to add again to be honest , let me know if this does or does not help 😊

you need windows to run this shit. There is no linux support. Nowhere they say you need to buy Microsoft product to manage Hkvision cameras. They are hardware and software manufacturers for Microsoft. You need to buy from Microsoft to use Hikvision product.

This version have Auxiliary Monitor mode? how many cameras we can put in screen with auxiliary mode?
Yes it does, up to 4 screens can run, and 64 camera per screen but that will make the PC to slow

It does sometimes work if you use Control C and control V function over right click , but not always

The 4200 doesn’t include a web portal but each device supports web browsing yes

yes , if you add the device by its local IP address that will be fine
@@DVSLTD thats what I did but it seems to be using the internet...i always only add my IP cameras using IP address..video footage live runs smoother on Web browser interface than IVMS......have I missed something?
Hi! I'm currently testing Hikvision setup for my home. It's iVMS-4200 (v.3.1.1.11) with storage server on my private home PC server - Windows 10 on VM (no dvr) and iVMS-4200 on my laptop as a client. I have one IP camera so far (DS-2CD1043G0-I) which record constatnly and when I play recorded footage there is no information about motion detecion on timeline. The motion detection is turned on in camera, iVMS gets alerts about motion detection, but timeline is all blue. Can you help?

I would personally use a 4ch NVR as this is so much more stable and you can have ~HIK-Connect for the phone for remote access , I don’t have the storage server setup as its not stable enough to be honest, so would need to go and check it all again

Question, using 4200 v.2.7.1.4. Camera field of view in remote configuration display window is much larger than in live view, which is missing about 35% of the image. Any way to correct/adjust this?

@@DVSLTD I actually figured out the problem. I had to adjust the monitor resolution to 150%. I have 2 other monitors that this does not happen on.

Mine still showing the device as being offline. Name, IP address, username and password are all correct. I may have to go back to ivms 320 which is slow as hell. I hate technology, all it does is wind me up! I just get a notification "Network Video Recorder Connection failed: device off-line or connection timeout. (HCNETSDK.dll(71)".

for me we use the NVIDIA 1060 or 1050 cards but something like that would be fine, I would say 4GB and above in reality

there are loads, our IVMS-4200 does allow local PC recording for IP cameras but to be honest its best to use the dedicated NVR / DVR

Hi , and thank you for the kind words, yes under the user management you are able to create this rule and associate only the cameras for live view and playback if required so they cannot then see them all
Does this version include pcnvr? Or it is just player, and other device for recording is needded?
we recommended always the DVR / NVR for record but you can install the storage server on 4200 during install of 4200 software and point it to the local PC , but its not as reliable

Hi Dave. Does this make sense? I can see your video, and your voice audio is synched to the clicking you're doing on the software. But the insert video's got a horrid lip-sync issue. It can't be my Chrome browser, because, again, the actions of the GUI are in synch to what you're saying!

very nice video, I really appreciate. One question about this software ability. Is it possible to get the entire log alarm from DVR to iVMS-4200? Then I'd like to search different type of alarms to see the exact event. The best way should be to double click on alarm event time from list and to have the video recorded at that time. Thank you.
thanks and yes its possible , if you go into the device management, highlight the device and select export device logs
@@DVSLTD first of all it is not working, when I export it is just a csv file with my devices having parameters. No alarm. On the other hand I don't need export of alarms, but I need to list and filter them by criteria and to localize very easy some footage by double clicking the image. This is very useful function and I can't find it into so sophisticate and nice software.
most people who aren't using this for their businesses would probably like a basic tutorial about how to get motion detected videos sent to their emails, etc. Can you do one, or do you already have one made for this? Not everyone is tech savvy these days, and would like an easy step through for this type of usage. Or is there some other software you would recommend that isn't so robust? Oh, also, one of my cameras is a ptz and I can't seem to see that camera from the internet, even if I replace my internal 192 ip address with the actual external ip. The other camera works fine if I use the external ip. Thanks again.

Yes it supports ONVIF but its best to add the non HIK camera to the NVR / DVR and do it that way but it will support ONVIF

How do you find the IP address to be able to add the device? I've tried using my Internet IP address but no luck...
do you mean of the local device on the system to add as the device or you trying to add a remote device and don’t know the IP ? if remote then we cant get it unless you where on the remote site and had the external IP and did the port forward and it was a fixed external IP of that site, maybe then using HIK-Connect is better

not just the live view but you can set up the login privilege of the software to not allow any other function

Hi seal , the spec will depend on the system requirements, you can use a i3 machine but the amount of cameras at a higher Res will be reduced , if you want the best performance and expect to do a lot with the software then i7 , 8/16GB Ram , dedicated Graphics card,

Technically you can do this and install the “storage server” element on install . but as its FOC software it can crash if you put a lot of load through it , if you do want to do this I would use a Windows based server for stability , but NVR is better

Hi Rrick and thanks, if you go to device management and then remote configuration option ( cog icon ) and select basic , it should take you to the web page of the device where you can set each VCA rule as needed direct to the NVR / DVR which is better in that we are more compatible this way , I hope this helps

You can use it to pull the plates from the NVR but not to use live as a system , for this please use the new HIK-Central v1.6 parking 😊

Hi , and thanks for this , we can use HIK-Central to achieve this , we can view more than 64 on the latest 4200 , but it will really impact the PC performance have you tried the latest 4200 ? it can support 64 cams on 1 screen , so you would need 2 screens

Hi , not through IVMS-4200 but via the web interface on I series you can do it , I did a separate video on it , see if this achieves it , technically if you add the device to 4200 and in device management and remote configuration it loads the web page also

and then jump forward.

Hi danny , I would use H.265 rather than H.264+ , to be honest I try to avoid H.265+ and H.264+ as they can have some effect on the image and also limitation of functions, H.265 performs very well ,

If I try to make a custom view, I save it and when I close the program or restart the PC the custom view is gone. What is wrong in this case? Note that user account running it does not have local admin priv.
it’s the local admin needed, if you don’t run it in admin mode it cant right the .txt file needed to save this view, can they run it with escalated admin for that user / machine locally ?
@@DVSLTD Unfortunately, there is no local admin; everything is in a domain which is very restricted. Can I manually copy that file somewhere ? If I temporary set the used account as local admin and save the config, will it then work in non-admin mode ? If I would knew the save location I could give special permissions to that location for the account.
@@BorgOvermind you can try making the folder in C:drive and 4200 as local admin so it can have admin access locally to the whole folder , this should work then
Dave i have a trouble with ivms V3, can you help me ? When one camera has disconnect from de network, all other câmeras in ivms live view appears a message : "Reconnecting...User does not exist, please input again. (Error code: HCNetSDK.dll[47].)". But if i select the custom view all cameras return to the live view. Did you see any kind of this problem ?
Hi , thanks for the feedback , actually I did see some strange things in early versions, are you using the latest 3.1.1.9 version ? I can send if needed , uninstall the last one ,backup 1st , then re-install latest and import the config if you need to input the data back in, but just as Quick to add again to be honest , let me know if this does or does not help 😊

you need windows to run this shit. There is no linux support. Nowhere they say you need to buy Microsoft product to manage Hkvision cameras. They are hardware and software manufacturers for Microsoft. You need to buy from Microsoft to use Hikvision product.
