    Love this! I hated the wiring instructions they had in their video!! I'll need to do some digging to find that repair wire with the terminal haha!

      I haven't found detail on it yet, but I know that Precision Raceworks includes that terminal on their kit and now Integrated Engineering includes it on their TrueFlex harness kit. I'll see if they can provide details on the terminal.

    I appreciate all of the extra work you put into this to make it as proper / OEM- looking as possible. Is it true that Fuel-It has a fundamental flaw in that it doesn't actually "sense" ethanol in gasoline, but just the lack of pure gasoline in your fuel? In other words, if there is water or some other crap in your fuel other than gas, Fuel-It assumes it is extra ethanol in your fuel mix. If this is true, do you know of any other device out there that has a more rigorous testing scheme?

      Thanks, Chris! It isn’t a Fuel-It issue, but the ethanol sensor itself, which is made by continental and seems to be a pretty broadly used sensor across many applications. I did some digging into how ethanol sensors in general work and this seems to be the acceptable method to “measure ethanol content”. Even though like you said, it is measuring the absence of ethanol and making an assumption. Best to occasionally test the ethanol you’re buying manually with one of the vile kits that is sold by various companies. Fuel-It offers their own version of this testing kit.

    Very very clean install, beautifully done. How you liking this kit?

      Appreciate it! Ultimately the kit worked great. I still have it installed inline with my Integrated Engineering TrueFlex kit (although not recommended). I don’t use it much anymore since I can see my ethanol content through the IE app. The Fuel It app, like the wiring, left some to be desired but I haven’t been in it lately to see if they’ve made many improvements. If you’re running ethanol in any vehicle it’s an easy way to get the info without wiring in a gauge.

    Hey, so I know that you have since installed the IE trueflex harness, so I have a question.
    If I were to purchase just the fuel-it dongle, would I be able to plug it in-line with my existing IE Trueflex harness? Will it plug into the sensor and will the existing power supply for the GM sensor plug into it, as to avoid additional wiring.
    Now that the 2018 R has been delayed until late this year, I plan to run the e30 tune, but don't currently have the means to monitor ethanol content. IE will not be enabling the sensor for content analyzing without the full Trueflex tune, leaving me SOL for the time being. Had I known that 2018 would be serviced last I'd of gone a different route, but here I am.
    Thanks.

      Sorry for the super late reply. I actually have plans to test this and provide some feedback on this topic. The short answer is yes. However, IE will tell you not to so that you don't introduce a point of failure in the connection.

    On their app under settings, What should the output mode be? there are five options

    • @Vaguh
      @Vaguh  2 роки тому

      Interesting. I'm not sure V3 was a thing when I installed this. I would assume that since I bought a specific output type I wouldn't be able to switch the output mode. I recently bought a 50-150hz unit so I can see ethanol using this app alongside my IE TrueFlex. In the video linked below at 3:43 you can see in my screen record of the settings it looks different and references V2. I'm not able to connect to my car at the moment, but looking at the app it shows "Disabled" is chosen for me on the "Output Mode (v3 kits)" ua-cam.com/video/Y5f9fllBdHU/v-deo.html

    as a fellow Washingtonians golf r owner I'm kind of cruise where you will be getting you higher ethanol from? I know the bases have it but that is about it.

      I know of two stations in western Washington serving e85 from the pump. Our go to is Gateway Gas & Deli (8030 Douglas Ave SE Snoqualmie, WA 98065), which Jeremy has had readings at e76, but we have not actually measured it in a vile. The other is a Shell station in Marysville (1401 172nd St NE Marysville, WA 98271), but we don't have any experience with it. It's obviously not viable to run it all the time based on the difficulty to get it, but it's been fun experimenting with!

    Hey bro just wondering , by installing this flex fuel kit are you allowed to run ethanol in your car without having to upgrade anything else such as injectors , lpfp / hpfp?

    • @Vaguh
      @Vaguh  11 місяців тому

      No, definitely not, but good question. This is just a device to measure the ethanol content in your gas for when you do have other supporting mods to run ethanol. Or you can just confirm that “yes indeed this pump fuel has 10% ethanol” lol.

    DUDE, , old video, i know.... ever since i downloaded a new version of the fuel it app my calcluator on it has always been way wrong, or reversed. i just cant figure it out.. i must not be understanding one of the settings... cuz i have an alternate E85 calculator app that is always perfect... reverse of whatever the fuel it says. I can send you screenshots if you have a business email.

      I’ll dm you on IG. I recall you posting some pics of the calculator not too long ago and I was diving into the details after I saw they made what looked like some good improvements. But I must have gotten distracted and moved on. DM incoming!

      @@Vaguh did you guys ever figure out what's up with the app? I just installed the kit and it's garbage. Saying my fuel temp is 900° 😑 and my ethanol content remains at e10 with no varying. Fuel amount is wrong. Like wth. Did I just really waste $600 on part and install on garbage??

    • @Vaguh
      @Vaguh  Рік тому +1

      @@MrDionstarrr I haven’t played with the app on a while to see if anything has changed. I’ve never had any issues with mine having bad output values from the sensor. Sounds like it could be a bad sensor or signal? I’d reach out to Fuel It or work with your installer (if it wasn’t you) to troubleshoot what might be going on.
