This is the sort of game I’m glad we’re seeing more of. Ambitious small studios taking lessons from extremely gameplay heavy games and making things that are literally far more enjoyable than most AAA titles. Hopefully the industry realizes that small games are viable again There’s nothing worse for an art form than the stage where only people with tons of money can even play - imagine if the only music that existed was Taylor swift and imagine dragons
Decent game, not bad at all, but it just felt like it was missing something. I think the story needed a little more buildup, which might have given it a bit more payoff
i know the game took heavy inspiration from persona social link system, but they also took the gameplay and fusion system while not expanding upon it is strange and quite disappointing
Didnt like the review. You expect too much with its scale and price point. Compared too much with an A game thats why you dont like much of its part. The battle music is repetitive, like in any turn based.
It isn’t that cheap though. Here in Australia this is a good $10 or more expensive than Beyond Galaxyland . I do like the idea of this one though but for an Indie game $36.95 is on the more expensive side compared to Beyond Galaxyland that cost me just $21.95 on Xbox. Albeit with a current 20 percent off they were running.
@@DEVILTAZ35It's pretty cheap. 30 dollars for like 30-40 hours is extremely good. Unfortunately for you, prices are based on America. So 30 dollars for us is like 10 more for you and other countries depending on conversion. The soundtrack is phenomenal.
I feel like ever since Graveyard Keeper which I consider to be a phenomenal game which was followed up by DLC content that only dramatically improved the base product, I feel like the Lazy Bear devs keep putting nails in their own coffin with every release (no pun intended). First, it was that messy half-baked game Swag and Sorcery which felt like a mobile product. Then Punch Club 2 which, while being OK, still felt underwhelming and uneventful. Afterwards there was that horrid League of Legends Yordle game with the most tedious mechanics ever seen in gaming and now this pseudo JRPG. I dunno what is going on with them. All these games have a distinctively attractive art style and yet they always feel like they needed at least a year longer in the oven. I will still give it a fair chance, but I've lost a lot of enthusiasm within my expectations for this dev team's work.
There is nothing wrong with the dialogue at all. This is set in an alternative 1960’s Americana and before social media destroyed kids ability to converse to each other on any sort of decent level of communication skill. They respected their elders and often had deep and meaningful conversations with them. Hence why they often were able to speak on what these days people think is a mature level even as young children. The issue is too many associate fake 1980’s for instance like Stranger Things phenomenon to what it was really like to grow up during that time and how they spoke. It’s great to see a game such as this that doesn’t use the terrible terminology that today’s youth use. Poor language is Something unfortunately rife in AAA gaming today especially.
There are so many things that are RIFE in AAA gaming lately ..it's tough to enjoy this hobby with the amount of absolute BS we have to deal with. Games are too easy thanks to this obsession with accessibility and greedy publishers wanting to appeal to the largest audience possible. Censorship is becoming commonplace. Wokeness has spread like a virus. Digital games and services are leading to a lack of preservation and games can have music removed at any time due to licensing crap (notice this doesn't happen with movies only games). They're pushing always online requirement for more and more games. Games can have huge swaths of content ripped out like Destiny 2 did ($150 worth of paid for content). The games media and the relationship publishers have with UA-camrs is corrupt, with practices like giving free games and consoles (for review purposes) or sending them out to events while providing free room and board. The list goes on and on too.
If it’s like persona without the crappy anime style and Japanese school kid narrative I’ll probably like it since that’s the reason I can’t stand persona.
I love the game, but yeah, it's WAY to much persona influence in there. Many times I actually facepalmed. This whole "personality trait" and "hanging out" with others got so much on my nerves.

As someone who has played 30+ hours of the game, I loved it and I wish many more people would give it I try. I 100% recommend it
I’m gonna pick it up hopefully they have big spells
Considering its price point.. you cant really expect 60 bucks quality 😅 i think they did a amazing job considering the price point

I appreciate the comprehensive review. It actually makes me more interested in this game than I was before
What is that "other game" ?please...
damn they really have an amazing premise and vibe with this game. its unfortunate it doesnt reach that potential (based from what ive watched so far).

This is such a great, thoughtful, detailed review. Thanks man!
Does the answers you pick effect the storyline?
I think your choices can effect the outcome of some quests, but not the main story.
@@xxProjectJxx Okay, thank you

EMILY... CHESTER... LINKIN PARK?
3:06 I just have to say, as someone raising an 8-year old, 8 and 9 year olds do be out there talking like teenagers.
I enjoyed the review, thanks!

Seemed pretty fair to me

What makes the game “pseudo” to you?
He learned a new word today.

The environment looks great, but I hate turn game.
