He didnt just send his people to die cause it was the easiest option!! They are both smart and talented, one could do what the other couldn't but Erwins combat and life experience and capacity to see far ahead could have been a greater asset. The death of his soldiers tormented him so much that levi decided he need to be freed. You vote for armin cause the narrative wants us to. But who knows maybe Erwin would have been a better choice to deal with the chaos unleashed on paradise right now
