Pretty huge letdown at the time considering the NF2 chipset with integrated graphics was actually pretty usable in 2003 for games.

Not really. It was highly dependent on Dual-Channel memory, tight timings, and 400 MHz for RAM speeds. It wasn't much better than the MX420 for a lot of games.

At 600x800 on a crt, which was still common at the time, it actually wasn't too bad when running less demanding games. It wasn't supposed to be a gaming gpu. It was meant to simply run daily stuff like web browsing, watch a movie in the typical resolution of the day (as in not 720p or up), etc.

yeah, single core systems with these integrated GPUs were honestly quite capable office machines up to the late 2000s. i have a few 2002-2008 era systems that i still use for playing music and for nostalgia

My friend used to play old games like Far Cry , NFSU2 , Counter Strike 1.6 , Quake 3 , etc with this igpu. At that time i had a Geforce 7025 so i played most of those games with him xD

I remember seeing a system with this chipset and accompanying GPU back in 2015.
In particular, it had an Athlon II X2 240, 4GB RAM and some mechanical HDD I'm forgetting the size of. It ran Windows 7 and surprisingly did so with compositing on. It was almost usable, but playing UA-cam videos at 1080p (the resolution of that monitor) was very choppy. I remember upgrading the GPU in that system to a Radeon R5 230, which while low end did provide enough graphical horsepower for UA-cam.

Don't they chipsets like to die from the Great Flip Chip Plague?
A lot of NVIDIA motherboards are notorious for dying.
Edit: Yep! Solder bump shenanigans galore...

It turns out a few months after the video was made, the motherboard pretty much couldn't boot anymore. nForce moment.

I would like to see a AMD/ATI IGP next. Maybe the ATI Radeon HD 4200 IGP or the ATI Radeon 4250 IGP which were both pretty interesting IGP's

Back then when I was a child, almost internet cafe PCs in my country were using ATI HD 3200 Integrated (4200 and 3200 almost identical). It was actually quite good for running almost all online games that was popular back then such as Point Blank, Lost Saga, Seal Online, Atlantica, CS Online, Ragnarok online, AyoDance Online, and much more. I also had a thinkpad edge laptop with dual core turion HD 3200 play HL2 low setting 768p and got around 40-60 FPS

I had an eMachines T6420 which came with an Athlon 3400+, 1GB DDR RAM, and an GeForce 6100. It was cheap and played World of Warcraft like a dream compared to my brother's laptop which had a GeForce Go 5200FX, a Pentium 4, and 512MB of RAM. This was late '04 early '05. Upgraded my eMachines to a GeForce 7300GT for WoW: The Burning Crusade. Played great.

My dad bought a brand new HP prebuilt in 2010 from Costco here in California, he spent $900, came with a 20inch. 1600x900 monitor that was nice for 2010, AMD Athlon II X2 240 2.8ghz cpu, 4gb DDR2 800mhz ram, 320gb Hard drive and the LEGENDARY GeForce 6150se Nforce 430. $900 in 2010 but welcome to Dell & HP ripping off consumers….lol, but yeah playing 2003 games was acceptable from my memories, in 2012 as a teenager by that time, I threw in a brand new Nvidia GT 630 and that was good enough to now let me play the latest games in 2012 but low settings but 900p lol and of course all the old games ran amazing

I had this exact chip in my hp prebuilt from 2006, and I hated it with a burning passion. It gimped my Athlon X2 so badly that I considered the 8300gs a major upgrade.

You really need to look at the Mobility Radeon 9000pro igp. The RC350 version (inside the Ati IXP300). Its performance is...something else.

I have 3 old family PCs, one of each with 6150LE, 7100 nForce 630i, and 6150SE nForce 430. the 6150SE is the only one that can playback youtube at 1080p60 without dropping any frames, meanwhile the other two struggle at anything past 720p30. Still don't understand how that works when the 7100 should technically be better. At least of them is still useful for what the vast majority of people do with their computers.

NF 680/780 were unreliable, the rest were pretty good in my experience. Try hunting a board with an MCP79/78/7A, well I guess you can't put them in the Bad iGPUs series because they actually kicked ass for an iGPU. You can even overclock the graphics and bus speed within the NV control panel. These 430s had no business existing into the late 00s nevermind the early '10s, I guess they made way too many of them

I had this iGPU in a crappy budget Compaq prebuilt (yes, Compaq) back in 2009. The PC was only like $200 from Fry's and thought it was a great deal but after about a day or two of use I realized _why_ it was so cheap. However I was pretty happy that it could _sort of_ run San Andreas and Cry of Fear. 😅😆
